Three days! I'm a big fan of Romero, and I'm sure this will be a great film. What about you guys?

I'm also a Romero fan and infact, a fan of zombie movies in general. I'm looking forwards to this one. Apparantly both Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright were invited to star as guest zombies. smile

Me and my friend are like, in love with Romero. So we're going all out when this movie comes out.

We're going to go to the theaters dressed as zombies, with skin falling off and everything.

Yeah, we're nerds like that.

The more I see, the worse it looks.

The Dawn of The Dead remake is PERFECTION.. I don't think this movie will top it.

Romero made all of the"..of the dead movies," except the Dawn of the Dead remake, which I actually found pretty entertaining sidewinder.

That's how I looked for the LOTD opening yesterday. My friend had a big nasty bite on his neck.

The movie was AMAZING.

Pretty utterly stupid? Mindless and undead creatures can't talk and shouldn't be able to use a gun without the blowback destroying their arm.

Lame. I'll be watching this one with squinted eyes.

I like Night Of The Living Dead a lot. I don't like the original Dawn Of The Dead, never seen Day Of The Dead because of that, I loved the remake of Dawn, and Shaun Of The Dead, in my eyes, is the best zombie movie ever, and I love it greatly.

Land of the Dead is better than the original Dawn, but for me, that's not saying much.

Here is my short review:

The gore and zombies are great when they're not ridiculous CGI, the characters are two dimensional when they're not John Leguizamo (sometimes) and Charlie, the disabled sharpshooter. The only good line in the whole movie is Dennis Hopper's "Zombies, man... they creep me out."
The plot is weak and boring and so is the script. About 50 or so minutes in, I started thinking "ok, this is getting good" but that was only for about 5 minutes, and then it got bad again, and then it ended.

After reading rave reviews for this movie, I was very excited, and I wanted to like it so bad, but George A. Romero has only ever not disappointed me with Night Of The Living Dead. Land of the Dead is his best movie, but like I said, that's not saying much.

Eh I thought it was pretty good. A little cheesey. The gore was great as Aculag said, except where it was completely fake. I didnt like the feel of it though. For me, zombie movies need to be a bunch of lifeless creatures unable to think, or use guns. I did kind of like the idea that they could communicate, adding one more level to them. I also think that the humans should just be normal people that have to fight for their lives with chainsaws and axes and what not, none of this loads of automatic rifles and cars with rocket launchers and computers and stuff. This is just all my opinion.

Overall though I thought it was a pretty entertaining flick but it didnt have the Romero feel I was hoping for.

Yeah I loved Land of the Dead. There were many political points, and it wasnt just a zombie movie, it made a lot of good points and it was made really well.

I was thinking the EXACT SAME THING!!!! Who's read Max Brook's Ultimate Zombie Survival Guide? I love that book! It talks about Zombies as if they were real, offers an explanation, has tips, supposed research, cases of "outbreaks..." Actually pretty realistic. You can find it under comedy... It doesn't do justice to it. It's not really a funny book... It's just really interesting. It kinda makes you wonder.... especially the "Living in an Undead World" section.

what happened to the good ol' days when men were ripped in half and their final words as the zombies ate their guts were: "CHOKE ON ITTTTTTTT!!!"

only good parts of the movie:

zombie pulling someone's tongue out

a midget pimp gets shot

a guy about to throw a grenade gets his arm chopped off and lands on his own grenade, and is the proceeded to blow into two peices. awesome.

too bad the rest of the movie (lines, characters, smart zombies, pillsbury, and "politcal points") sucked balls.

Man, I totally wished that I wasn't on vacation last week. Not only did I miss Bruce Campbell screening Man with the Screaming Brain, but a friend of mine was working at the Land of the Dead world premiere and probably could have gotten me tickets. On Saturday they had a story about it on the radio and it turns out that both Robert Rodriguez (who's one of my idols along with Grant Morrison and Ted Leo) and Quentin Tarantino were in attendance.
I'm thinking life might hate me, but whatever.

I really enjoyed this movie, with Star wars still rigning in my head this dialogue was brilliant. the scene where Dennis Hopper puts the phone down and looks upset and a business friend asks him

"Trouble ?"
Hopper repl, ies "In a world where the dead are coming to life the word trouble loses all meaning !"

There were some other great quotes too and Asia's Intro scene was great. I think i was fearing the worst with the gun totting zombie but it played out OK.
It seemed weird this film looking slick but still it had all the feel of a Romero film through and through. This one pleasantly surprised me.
