This is just a simple tale of bloke meets robot, bloke runs away from robot, bloke is vapourised by robot.

Wahey I got a comment, I did this film ages ago when I was first learning C4D.

Do you mean the textures aren't detailed enough?

I've just watched this and its one of the best quality 3D movies on the cinema.
The use of the cam.shake plugin(I assume) was perfect as was the synched sound but best of all was the "bot" he looked and seemed a real
heavy weight (as in Robo Cop type bots).
There does'nt seem to be much comment on this little classic which is rather surprising.......it needs to be brought forward somehow....there are
skills in this that others should learn.
I was really impressed with this and the ending was perfect for such an ugly bugger..... lol lol lol
Your too modest "ottey".
Lets se some more of your stuff.........test renders perhaps "Dog fight"
I also watched "THE DOGFIGHT" as u recommended.....OUTSTANDING!
The Phantom Force woke up for this one!

A copy of my tests for dogfight ripoff are on there way to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/alamdv/ right now... I will search the puter and see what else I can find...

I can't put up my latest film because A. it has no ALAM effects in it and B. I sent it off for a competition...

Unfortunately I lost the highly entertaining clips of me running round corners at speed at battering my head into the fence, teach me to run on wet grass.

and the ending was perfect for such an ugly bugger.....
Cheeky, cheeky cheeky monkey. I was actually wearing a complicated remote controlled prosthetic mask.

I should probably think about remaking the whole film, but I am not going to get a free spot in my schedule until about May next year tard crazy tard

Anyhow thanks for the nice comments, I can strut around with a nicely inflated ego for a few days now.... lol

Is there anyway that your latest film could be seen by me and I'm sure many others.Understanding the lack of alam f/x is a prob. for the cinema
is it poss. to put up a link on a post.

I do apoligise for insulting you but I had'nt realised that you had used your
self shots AFTER u had smashed your face on the fence.

I'll be downloading your renders in a short while.

Hi "Cypher" if u get time could u explain what u mean about "textures
were too solid".......I thought the "bot" was one of the best models I'd
seen on the cinema.....so I've got something to learn here and others to.

Cheers.

The Phantom Force awaits..... lol lol

Cheers for the comments, it seems like blimmin years since I put that up.

I'm actually amazed the website I put it on is still out there. I should have another film to put up soon, it was for a competition entry but we didn't win, no Alamdv in it though.

BTW Nice little flyby, terragen I assume. Have you seen a little program called forrester? It is used in conjunction with Pov-Ray and Terragen and it creates really nice looking landscapes which you can easily populate with trees rocks grass or whatever. http://www.dartnall.f9.co.uk/ is the web address.

I should think I can put it up somewhere.

I reckon the judges had fishbowls on their heads, and small elephants blocking their ears. And I bet they have no friends either.

Not that I am bitter. biggrin

Do your best I'd love to see it as I'm sure everyone else as well even if it does'nt use AlamDV F/X........

Ol'dav

EDIT......while your at it see if u can get your "Dogfight" on as well..I still have'nt seen the full clip.
"b4" said the original "Dogfight" was excellent and I told him about your version....so there will be lots of interest in it as word spreads.

Right, film should be up. I had to reduce the quality a lot to get it to a sensible size.

There are no alam effects, and nothing explodes, but don't let that put you off.

You must have had some really superb movies to go against in the comp. cos yours is a REAL piece of film making in its TRUE form.....shot excellent...sound excellent.....original (sigh)......young lady is natural and definitely enhances the story line......I would love to add something else but can't in case I ruin the ending for folks.........I just hope it was trick cam work.. lol

If it was on Alam I'd give it 5star without any hesitation......great little film Paul.

Wahay, thanks for the praise, my ego always needs a boost on a Monday. Most of the sound was recorded live, a few footsteps and the obvious bangs and smashes were added later.

I will probably post it to the cinema, with no ALAM effects we will have to wait and see if it is accepted.

:edit: Scrub that, I have just read the submission section and they only accept stuff with ALAM effects... cry :edit:

The other films should be going up on a website by the competition organisers soon, I will post the link when I find it.

I just hope it was trick cam work
hehe.. yeah it just didn't look right when we did it for real, and after the third take the star looked a little ragged anyway wink

I'll try and put the dogfight test up later aswell. that one does have an ALAM effect in but it's a blink and you miss it.

We used an XL-1 to film on, they have a lot of control over the recorded sound, there are two channels, onboard mic or external mic, and a level meter on top of the cam body. The onboard mic is really a removable one though as it is not built into the camera.

The mic also had a wind sock fitted. And we were lucky as the locations were fairly quiet, no crowds of people or heavy background noise.

The first thing is to make sure the recorded signal is not being clipped (going past 100% on the meter). Then it is just down to careful mixing and level control in the editing stage.

I took sounds from parts of the footage that never appeared in the final film and just moved them to where I wanted.

I spent as much time adjusting individual sounds as I spent doing the effects. The music was taken from www.freeplay.com in mp3 format. I would have downloaded the .WAVS if I had the time

To be honest I had to reduce the sound quality to get the file size down biggrin

I am trying to decide which sounds were added in post...

tyre screech
thud
evil laugh
creak on bench

I only use downloaded sounds that are at least 44kHz 16 bit stereo.

Our next film is a vampire flick so the sound design should be fairly epic on that.....

In other words you put a lot of effort into the sound track and it really does show......great stuff.......BTW the visuals also of the same calibre.

You have hit the nail on the head, filmmakers should never be satisfied with the work they do, they should always be struggling to improve.

I am also to love Mondays, I have had heaps of praise (which, by the way, anyone is welcome to do wink biggrin ) and our lecturers told us to increase the level of sexual suggestiveness in our script. eek Wahay.

All I need now is for a big bag of money to crash through my window and I will have had the perfect day.

Right, in a shameless ploy to get the film up on the site I have added some ALAMDV magic.

A bit of flame on the titles... biggrin

So I am about to fill out the submission form and leave myself open for the tirade of abuse crazy
