Enter the world of Ultimate Utopia XXIII where real life and video game collide!

This movie is a mock on RPGS particularly Final Fantasy. I came up with this idea a year ago and decided to finally do it. It was a lot of working coordinating the menus and numbers and such. About one week of editing using Premiere, AE, and AlamDV. One day of shooting.

I hope you have as much fun watching it as I had making it! =)

This, in my opinion, was perfect. Almost too perfect.

As an avid fan of the final fantasy series, there was little to nothing about this movie I couldn't enjoy. You got every little quirk of the game down to the teeth. The freezing as the camera angle changed, walking into a wall, every thing in the battle. perfect.

I thought the effects were impressive, though looked odd in areas where it the camera was moving but the effect did not. Also, I felt the battle was a little long, but it was timed perfectly after I thought about what an FF battle is really like. Also, all the sound effects and timing of action in the battle were perfect. Where if most people were to attempt this movie, they would show the menue choose an action, and then the character would do it right after, but you knew what you were doing with the time.

overall, one of the best movies I have ever seen on fxhome, and am giving it a 5, and a place on my top ten. Is it just me, or are the movies on fxhome suddenly getting.....fantastic? (IE B.R.U.K, The Last Days, and Ninja, Interrupted)
I like where fxhome is going right now. I like it allot.

I agree with Waser big time. I used to play final fantasy VII for like 24 hour pieriods without stoping, ahaha. This film completely has all of the details of the Final fantasy series down...I even heard some music from VII...Which made me happy. Haha.

I would also agree with Waser about the fight going on to long...I thought it was well done, good use of all of the nice particle effects, etc... But the fact that the entire thing really went nowhere, makes me take my rating from a 5 to a 4. Very nice work though.

heh, that's something I said back in December about one of your first movies. How right I was.

I liked this a lot. It's origional, funny, and portrays RPGs exactly how they are in my mind (kind of cool, but pretty much anoying).
Thanks for a good laugh. 5/5

Yeah, but that's how some RPG fights are.....way too long. I thought it matched it perfectly.

Brilliant concept and superb humour. One of my fav games biggrin
Yep battle scene was a bit on the long side but still shorter than the actual game...LOL.
An original and great idea.....very well done.

4stars I would have made it 5 if battle scene was a bit shorter but i still laughed out loud on a lot of your stuff which you handled very cleverly.

Maybe i should have made it 5stars...oh dear. redface

Well done everyone.

Top film mate. This is the first short I’ve seen where I thought, **ck I wish I had thought of that.

My only criticism would be that I thought the main fight was a bit long. But saying that I enjoyed every minute of it. I hope I’m not contradicting myself to much and you get what I mean.

Brilliant just brilliant.

LordJR-
That's great to hear. I believe movies aren't limited to what we see normally. They are pieces of art and can be made into whatever you want.

Icken9-
Hehe. Yea, I'm surprised I haven't seen this idea done before, unless I'm wrong. Now that I look at the movie, it is a bit long, and I probably could have cut it here and there. Problem is, when I was writing it, I had to put down every detail like damage, hp, mp values so it was hard to take out one thing without affecting the rest of the movie. Ha. I understand what you're saying. Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it very much.

It's your choice to watch the movie or not. I did not force you. Furthermore, the movie is targeted to people who have played RPGS such as Final Fantasy. The humor would most likely not appeal to you.

This is my second post for this film.....I cannot understand why some members need to be so offensive.Yes I know we're all entitled to our opinions
but that is not an excuse for insults.
This little movie is a great example of attention to detail and real humour and it does justify a 5star even though I only gave 4 last time around, must have bin having a bad fantasy hair day...LOL.
Keep up the good work and don't be put off by unnecessary hard remarks by
peeps who don't understand the humour and style of your great little movie.

I can't help but feel you're over-reacting Davlin, 95% of feedback left so far has been overwhelmingly positive...
As for the other 5%, you can't please everyone and if they have nothing to say in regard to constructive criticism then it's safe to say they either don't have the capacity to or they were just being foolish and haven't actually given your movie any thought... In which case, forget about them.

Hi hybrid
I think there is a slight misunderstanding...this is not my movie...the maker of this little classic is "jetaimaster".
Yes you are correct in your points but I still feel it is'nt helpful to be insulting.

Very, very funny. Great concept and well executed. The visual effects were, for the most part, well handled, too. My only criticism is that I think it could have been a little shorter

And I agree with Davlin, insults shouldn't have a place on these boards.

great idea, i give it 5/5. although my only complaint was that the fight scene was a little long, it's interesting to note that fight scenes of the real game which this film parodies were long in the same manner so i guess this is just being honest in that effect.

in anycase, i cant see what else jetaimaster has to offer

That was good fun. I like how the battle music changes and there are special themes for summons. Very nice on that. I liked the ending, although I sorta guessed what was gonna happen before it did.

Nice on the "Star Wars" spoofs too. EP III --- deserves to be spoofed, it was a crummy movie compared to the book version.

Question --- what's the name of the piece playing during the closing credits? I *know* I've heard it before, but I can't place it and it's driving me nuts.

The song is "Fruits of Acasia" by Faye Wong. It was the alternate chinese/japanese version of "Eyes on Me".

I reaaaally love this video. A friend of mine sent me the link and I found myself laughing harder than I have in ages. Besides being very well-done, it's hilarious! And brilliant. Thanks for brightening my bleak, rainy day.

-----

By the way...

"Fruits of Acasia"? Are you kidding me?

It's "Hong Dou" or in English, "Red Bean". And it's not any version of "Eyes On Me" at all - it's just the b-side to the "Eyes On Me" single.

Crazy people.

Thanks for your feedback. The name of the song varies depending on translation. I've heard it called Red Bean and Fruit of Acasia. The reason why I called it the Chinese version of "Eyes on Me" is because it was the song used in the Asian versions of FF8. In no way do they sound alike.

I don't know where you're getting your information, unless it's from a file-sharing program. I've seen it labeled as the Chinese version of Eyes on Me, but it is incorrect. Totally incorrect.

"Hong Dou" literally means "red bean" and the Japanese transation of the title is "Acacia Bean" - which are apparently the same thing.

"Hong Dou" wasn't used in the Asian versions of the game at all. "Eyes on Me" - The English version, and the only version - was used in ALL versions of the game. Please believe me, as I own the Japanese FF8 soundtrack _and_ I've been a Faye Wong fan for years. ^^; (For example - in FF9, there was a Japanese and English version of "Melodies of Life" and both versions of the song were included in the OST. However, "Hong Dou" was not included in the FF8 OST.)

It's just a b-side for Faye's commercially released single, and has no relation to the game whatsoever. Besides, people actually involved in the game wrote "Eyes On Me" while the people who wrote the lyrics and music to "Hong Dou" are involved in the Chinese music industry and who have regularly contributed to Faye's repertoire.

Another point is that "Eyes On Me" has a relevance to the actual story - it's Julia's song about and for Laguna. "Hong Dou" really is more of a romantic song in general and wouldn't have more meaning to the story than if they used Tina Turner's "What's Love Got To Do With It".

I know I'm being pedantic and annoying about this, but I assure you - I know what I'm talking about. The song is not related to Final Fantasy in any way except that it was a track included in the same single featuring a Final Fantasy song.

Hey, the reason you don't remember is because it isn't from Final Fantasy. Those two pieces are from Chrono Cross (Psx). I suggest to check out the album as it is probably one of the best video game soundtracks ever.

I agree, very good job accomplishing what you set out to do. However, not being a fan of RPG's (quite the opposite, in fact) I found it somewhat lengthy and drawn out. I think you could have accomplished the same great final product with less run time.

Haha, I thought is was very funny because I played these types of games once and there just like the game. Effects were decent, but they look like the ones in the game. Made me have a good laugh.
