We've released the 3.000.882 version update of EffectsLab for Mac OS X users. This fixes several issues and also introduces the brand new visual appearance.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Old project files will not open in this version. Please make sure you finish and render old projects BEFORE installing release 3.000.882.

Click here to go to the EffectsLab download page.

Click here to get full details on the update.

For more info, see yesterday's news post about the Windows update, which can be read by clicking here.

Great new look! However, I've found a bug! sad

On this mac version, the spread slider for the Neon Glow does some strange things. It hardly has effect on the glow. It seems to do the same thing as the size slider. Could you please fix it?!

Yup sorry about that, well spotted! I've been optimising all our imaging functions, I usually do it on the PC, then port the code to the Mac making changes as necessary, guess that was the one function that got away. I've fixed it, so an updated version should be up very soon. Sorry for the inconvenience smile

I just downloaded it, went in to fiddle with it. I was fiddling with a muzzle flash and the program suddenly quit. I've never had a problem before, but i was also running iTunes and iChat, i usually dont run anything with EL. Anyone else have troubles?

It gave me no error or warning.

I've just download 3.000.883 and and when I try to import media it doesn't appear in the texture browser. I was getting error messages at first but now they don't appear. I'm using OS X 10.4.2. Any ideas?

I'm trying to import .png files from the Texture folder. Would you like me to send you the .xml error messages?

Before downloading the update, do we have to uninstall the current EffectsLab version? If so, what all needs to be uninstalled?

Thanks

I downloaded the update, but when I click on the .dmg it says that 'The following disk images failed to mount' and that the reason is because there's "no mountable file systems".

This is without uninstalling anything, so is this problem only because I have to first uninstall the old EffectsLab?

I saw that for the windows version that files needed uninstalled, so for the Mac do I need to do the same? Sorry if this seems obvious, but as I said before I'm still rather new at all this.

Thanks

Sounds like the discimage is corrupt. Maybe downloading again might solve it.

I don't know if this is a known bug or not, but in version 3.000.883 for Mac...

...if you right click on an effect length in the Timeline (I've only tried "Neon Light") and select "Set Length 'Neon Light'," up pops an internal error message in which you can only click OK, but then another message that says "Director Player Error / Symbol Expected / <Void>" pops up, in which you can click either Cancel or OK, but either one brings up the previous error message, causing you to force quit.

Hope this bug report is omewhat useful (and posted in the right place).
