We recently heard about a competition being run by The Guardian which may be of interest to UK FXhomers.

A celebration of digital filmmaking, the competition is open to anybody that has made a movie on a consumer editing system (despite the constant iMovie refs in the article, any home editing system seems eligible). The movies need to be a minimum of 10 minutes long, but submissions can be from anytime in the last two years, so if you've had a project hanging around waiting to be seen this could be its big chance.

Full details can be read here:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/arts/features/story/0,,1542181,00.html

Even if you're not interested in the competition, the article makes for interesting reading, including Mike Figgis' thoughts on where digital filmmaking is headed.

Good luck to anybody that enters!

Cool. I can't enter it, but I can tell all Swedes on this forum about a swedish filmfestival called "Pixel" which is due soon.

Find out more here:

From what I know both me and Andreas will be showing movies at this festival.

Are you sure it's just limited to UK filmmakers? Tell me I'm blind, but I couldn't find anywhere that mentioned UK residence/citizenship as a must.

very cool.....I agree, we need more opertunaties like this. Breaking in to the industry can be hard, the only way forward is festivals and comps like this one.
