|This is the Old titles I was using for my short film. AlamDv helped out a lot for time consuming lasers and light effects, and additional effects to my own ones! Anyway, this is up till the new one is filmed:) Also, I'm really trying to get to grips with making Mpeg and MOV files for the Mac people, As soon as I have that done, I'll post the Mov versions.|Posted: Thu, 11th Apr 2002, 5:29pm

Hmm, again I question the star votes on this one. IT has many "0" stars and I really was impressed with this. It seems the people who made godsend and the person who made this short are from tha same place. It also looks like some sort of vote rigging is in action! Does this go on a lot on this site? Just to add, I'm not voting for any films until mine is up, but I hope people will be fair about it.

If you don't know if you have it or don't know how to use it if you know you do, u can email me to download a tutorial video. Watch the whole this or watch 2:26-3:32. Between that times slot you should learn about this feature. Here is my email. PLEASE HELP ME!!! firstname.lastname@example.org

I have really loved this preview for quite a while now. If anyone gives it a zero, it is because they are
and therefor do not know what they are doing...or they just do not know what a good preview is. I have given this a 5 because it deserves it. Kingpiin...YOU RULE!

Hey, I thought that this was worth every bit of time. You did very well on the effects. It is something that you don't see everyday. It is far beyond, the expectations I had in mind. The explosions were great. And I usually don't comment on the plot, but it is good. But I always rate on effects.

I'm giving this movie a 5 on the following acount:
(and I AM a tough critic)
the clip has an excelent PACE (which for all you fellow film students, is one of the 5 basic elements of story telling)
The action is great (althought it irked me to see a phycic warrior in levis)
The 3d shots (I'm presuming they were done in MAX from the style of lensflare) were very well done, and the partical effects worked great (the combustion explosion on the 'mother-ship' was a little quirky, but the angle worked out perfect) I especialy enjoyed the titling sequence at the beginning. EXCELENT work.
Once again, the key to this moive's 'coolness' is not just the effects, it's the pace. The intensity you get from watching it can be attributed to that.
VERY nice work. I hope to see more like it.

Very nice CG, particularly the credits. Good AlamDV effects too, of course. However...the scenes intercut with the credits are too chaotic to tell a coherent story and too similar to work as an opening-titles montage. I'd suggest either clarifying the story or shooting some more diverse footage to make the montage broader. How about facial close-ups of each actor to go with their credit?
Good work, anyway. It DID make me want to watch the rest of the film :)

I think this clip was a little torn between wanting to be a teaser AND an opening credits sequence. Perhaps this confused it a little. It was a bit hectic for opening credits but has a bit too much text for a pure teaser. I was tapping my fingers at the start: I didn't want to be told, I wanted to be shown.
These are minor and very personal niggles of course, 'cos I really loved it! I liked the transition between the intro text and the titles proper a lot; the way the beat comes in with the prod' co' titles - VERY cool!

Well, there is no Ascendance full version. It was a test for me to see what I could do with 4 months of learning CG and Video editing. The full version has been re-written and called "Host", and will soon be on Saiko-Exciting (Sci-fi Channel) with interviews with me, behind the scenes, how I did the effects, basicall a behind the scenes interview till I'm the full version is finished. This is one of the projects I'm working on, so I have to split time between them all, which leaves little time. Special thanks to the bloody I-worm virus and the Yahaa virus for screwing up all my files and hard drives (330 GB worth of 3d files, scripts etc). That slowed things down a bit!lol

Thanks for all your replies. I'm glad the Ascendance thing helped some of you out in some way.
Anyway, until I can access my server again, I stuck up a very short update to the Stargate thing. This actually took 2 minutes planning from Whitesurfer (big guy in the clip) and was there to test the new Transport rings. I didn#t really take too much time to get the lighting exact, or the acting, or the choreography, or camera matching, or brush my teeth that morning, or clean my stench ridden....(too much?), but you know how these things go. Also, the toilet roll tubes were to have a kind of "Witchblade" Effect until I ran out of time and had to wipe all projects to free up room for the new one. I'll update it all later and re shoot with the new Stargate and event horizon. U can see the small clip here...http://www.getoutthere.bt.com/index2.cfm or under gavin innes in the search tab in the films section. Alamdv for the fire effect at the end.

HI all. Thanks for the messages. This was done ages ago. The lasers from the space ships were Alamdv, and so was some addition effects like some lightning around the 3dSmax effects to pump up the action a little. The light effects you're talkig about were again, 3DSMAX. 3 different spline animations with 3 different glow settings. The fire etc was real fire, and also max particle effects. The Titles were low res flame clips textured onto the titles. All the titles were 3DSMAX with flame clips edited in Premier and ALAMDV 1. NO particle illusion was used in any of these clips.
Now doing a lot better stuff in Softimage cause I took the leap and am doing a degree in 3danimation and filming with an extra year in drinking, scratching and womanizing. All going good! hehe

I believe it was puff daddy or p diddy or whatever he calls himself these days. It was part of the Godzilla soundtrack and called Come With Me if I remember correctly.
Just re-watched this movie and that is a truly great title sequence. It actually inspired an intro movie to AlamDV2, which would play when you started the program. Check it outhttp://malone.fxhome.com/alamdv2start.mov
