Hey, me and a friend are recreating an old Radio Station, and perhaps you guys could tell us some bands you like, so we can put them on the playlist. Also include your favorite song or songs by them.

I'll post on here when the radio is up, so you guys can tune in. We'll try to include some of your music if we already have it on cds. Or maybe go out and buy them on online mp3 stores. Rap, Techno, Rock, Hip/Hop are the catagories. If yours isnt listed just add the name anyway and we'll work something out.

Rock:
Bloc Party- Banquet
Pink Floyd
David Bowie
ARCADE FIRE- Rebellion (Lies)
Talking Heads
Modest Mouse
THE CLASH(i.e. London Calling- best rock album of all time)
Eric Clapton
THE LIBERTINES- Don't Look Back Into The Sun
THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS- Birdhouse In Your Soul
The Hives
Kings Of Leon
Dead Kennedys (Be careful if you play the DKs)
Franz Ferdinand (I've got songs of theirs most fans have never heard of if you want some- including their new single out in september)

Rap/Hip Hop:
Jay-Z- 99 Problems
Ying-Yang Twins (they keep it CRUNK)
Cassidy- I'm A Hustla
The Streets- Dry Your Eyes
OUTKAST- Hey Ya, Bombs Over Baghdad
Ludacris

Techno:
FISHERSPOONER- Emerge
Depeche Mode (?)
Fatboy Slim
Moby
TV on the Radio- Staring at the Sun

And a personal suggestion of mine:
The Old 97's- some call them Cow Punk, but they're more general rock with a country taste.

I've got a copy of Eminem's Infinite LP, with ripped MP3 tracks.

It's basically unreleased stuff he did before he was famous, and it's brilliant. If you're interested, PM me. (Just thinking it might make some origional, exclusive stuff for your station biggrin)

Thanks every one for all of your suggestions and please keep em' coming. In case you don't know me, and I bet you don't, I'm Zea's partner in crime. We are in the process of acquiring as much music as we can for Web X Radio, if you have any music from bands in your area or maybe some obscure bands that you would like to share please do.

We are currently making a list of singers/bands who we think would be willing to give us exclusive tracks, and/or premiers if you can think of any please list them too. We really wanna go all out with this so if you have any suggestions pertaining to WebX radio or wish to help please PM either Zea or Me. We want this to be your radio station. We just opened the google group today so please sign up for updated and "X-Clusive News".

I love how everyone who is posting song names is posting songs that are popular and already in radio circulation. For the most part. Not EVERYONE, just some. Funny!

If you can find it, play something by The Fiery Furnaces, and something by Dredg.

You probably have more than enough, but to add a few unique ones:

Ska:
The Aquabats
Catch 22
Streetlight Manifesto

Electronic/Other
Kraftwerk
M83

I have over 300 electronica/dance songs, all pretty much with a different artist -- it's too hard to pick out the best though. One of my favorites is Omnibus by Laut Sprecher though.

And here's some relatively not-as-popular-as-your-average-rock/pop-group groups:

Metric
The Polyphonic Spree (well, that's not really rock or pop... I don't know what it is... It's... happy! biggrin Heh heh.)

Yeah, Ben Folds is awesome. I'm guessing the stool thing originates from when he was on Letterman a few years ago. His plan (then) was to flip the piano after his performance. Unfortunately, he was told not to because it would crack the floor.

About him half standing up: It's probably just the way he plays. He gets real into his music. Also, if you thought he acted sort of weird or something, it's probably because he doesn't like being on camera.

Ben Folds was on Leno tonight. He stood off the stool again! I guess that's just how he plays. No stool throwing, but Weird Al was playing the tambourine for him for some reason! That's cool too!

I absolutely love the Bravery. If you havent seen them live, you have to. Sam has the best stage presence I have seen in a long time. With his hips, he reminds me of a new version of Elvis. But unfortunately, here in the states, they are being overplayed so a lot of people are being turned off by them. But I will always love those boys! They have IT.

It's funny, Miker has the EXACT same taste in music I had when I was in 8th grade (6 years ago), minus the bands that didn't exist back then.

I dont know, they could have easily replaced the accordian with background vocals by William Shatner and Ashlee Simpson.

Dragon force lol......in my opinnion its the cheesiest band ever, the name alone sounds too HARDCORE to be taken seriously, and the solos just get boring and the guitar looses the sweet sound and just becomes like a wierd sounding synth....i dunno.. just not my style.
Sure their realy good musicians but too much of anything is never a good thing

It's metal, metal is always fast. And not very complicated. I have to admit, the keyboardist can do some nice things. But he's nothing compared to Jordan Rudess.

Instrumedly (a whole bunch of songs of Dream Theater together)

Danish people are cool.
Though, all the danish teenagers I've met were awfully rude...
And I can hardly understand what they say.
While I find it sexy when a girls speeks swedish, it's not really the same when a danish girl says something I can't understand razz

No offence... Do you feel the same way about norwegian language?
norway used to speek danish, but after a few hundred years we developed our own language... which is very alike.
For those wo didn't know that.

You are saying that all metal is not complicated music that requires no skill?

Depending on the band, power metal can be the best music ever. DragonForce is uplifting, I think it's the best rock for a long time. Ok, let's just say they're unskilled (which I highly disagree with), their music sounds amazing and their singer is amazing. You have to have skill to sound good, but if it sounds good and the music is powerful, who cares? I understand if you dislike them, but I don't think your reasons justify it. A better reason would be "they just don't do it for me." But comparing the skills on their instruments, as in the ability to play them, to other people really doesn't say much about them as a band or say much about their music unless it is utter crap, and they certainly aren't.

I don't like Dragonforces singer at all. The music is entertaining, but really it feels like more of a one trick pony to me. If I'm going to listen to cheesy power rock, I'll listen to "The Darkness"

I'm not going to argue with you. But I really love very technical music. And I have to agree, DragonForce is also very technical (shame on me, I didn't watch the DragonForce video completely before I post that reply, so sorry)
But I only wanted to let you guys meet Dream Theater which is an amazing band.

So I retreat my opininion I said before about DragonForce.

Yeah, some are pretty rude for no reason.

Norwegian is not hard to understand.... Swedish, on the other hand, is pretty hard to understand. At least I think so.

DragonForce are a strange beast. With almost no demand for it, they suddenly made it big, playing Ludicrous Rock, which sounds more at home in a vertical-scrolling mindless japanese shoot-em-up, than it does on anyone's hi-fi.

Technically, they're extremely talented, but the music is very much un-original.

Dream Theatre, however, are a totally different bag of sparrows. They're not even really a band as such...they're an ideal, maaan. They're the band every guitarist wants to be in, and which every major guitarist has ever been in. Their music isn't really DragonForce-like either. Its way more innovative, experimental and good razz

Having been going 20 years, they've influenced every rock/metal band in existance this day. Some bands more than most. I would heartily recommend anyone with an interest in metal, rock, fusion, progressive, metalcore, math rock and any other technical subgenres, to listen to Dream Theatre, if you haven't already.

Xcession, I know you're a music buff but how are they unoriginal? I am not arguing, just curious becase this is the first power metal band I've ever really listened to. To me it's surreal, as if rock from Narnia or something. smile

I browsed quickly but I didn’t see any Reel Big Fish

Best bands (in my opinion)

REEL BIG FISH
Goldfinger
Flogging Molly
Less than Jake (a few of there songs)
Bouncing Souls (has some sweet songs)

And a lot more already mentioned
