LAJF is a tribute to any episode of Dawsons Creek, Orange County or other American Teen sitcom.
With it un-original story and lack of depth charachters it still tries to be serious. wink

LAJF is one step forward all through production for my movies.
It was shot 4-5 times over a year due to weather, actors and lack of times.
I got almost 10 minutes deleted scenes, and I have to blame myself for that. The script was written in one night and had some serious troubles when we started shooting, so reshoots was needed and it's atleast much better.
It was shot on a XL1s, using 3x 500w worklamps to ligthen the scenes. A ATR55 shotgun mic was used in almost all scenes (sadly boom-dudes are hard to find)This is the first release, a second version will be made for Pixel Film-Festival with some new audio and music.

Read about the making of it since day one here:
http://www.ajpictures.se/Lajf-posts.htm
Enjoy.

EDIT

And now let me present to you, possibly and hopefully the last version of LAJF. ever made. Almost a total recut from the original LAJF. this contains both deleted scenes and new scenes + 6 glorious new audio tracks containing the original chosen music.
Still suffers from mostly audio problems due to the original recordings, nevertheless this one is better!

Really good. I have been watching this movie transforming over a year. A fun thing is that almost none of the clips in the trailer are in the movie. Very good!

5 out of 5
9th place in top 10 list.

Man, I really liked this film. Its really cute ! And damn, SWEDISH (thanks hawk smile ) chicks are so hot ! We dont get that kinda breed here in Austria.

Pros:
Nice Introduction
Nice Editing
Good Filming
Good Dialogues
The fact that its a "OC" kinda flik, really cool !
Hot Girls ! Always brings the rating up higher wink

Cons:
Only thing that bothered me, is that you should have deinterlaced your footage...

ELSE everything really cool ! WELL DONE !

And this is PROOF, that movies dont have to have really cool FX to be really good !

5 / 5

Cheers,

So you've finally finished it huh? And it's great too. I remember when you told me about this a year ago, and I thought: Nah, that can't be good. But you prooved me wrong, and made a great movie.

Although I have to say that the sound was very low at some points so you couldn't hear what they said, so it's good that you put subtitles on it (even if you speak swedish)

And btw, I hope you'll win the filmfestival you're entering it to.

Dutch chicks are hot! Swedes are alright too!
I'm trying to work it out, it's actully deinterlaced. I'm having some trouble with DIVX.
Thanks for the nice words.

yeah, the sound did came out a bit low. I'll try fixing that in the next version (but please everyone don't wait for the next version, it's not that low!)
Thanks! If im not mistaken, redhawk (and you?) is entering the same festival wink

You probably need this:

Good work Andreas, thought the look (grading and photography) was excellent. The sound was good, but not all of the time, it changed a lot if you did a cut to another person speaking, in some scenes. A bit of constant background noise would have been good. Was still very good sound though, you could hear dialogue crystal clear. Music edits were great.

Story itself seemed a bit weak in some places. I thought the beginning was very strong with the dialogue and introduction of characters but later in the night scenes it seemed a bit weak dialogue-wise (apart from the final line, haha). Maybe a bit was lost in translation (ahhh, see what I did there?!).

Enjoyed it though, I liked stuff like the moon closeup, the American Pie reference and the changing clothes scene, the pool scene, and technically it was great, just would have liked a bit meatier story razz

Thanks a bunch Mel for your kind words. It means alot hearing from someone who's almost in the same genre.

...it changed a lot if you did a cut to another person speaking, in some scenes.
Yeah, the first scene especially had that problem. Doing gorilla-filmmaking have it week points, such as everything isn't planned. The begining was parly shot at noon, nothing was set I just needed the scenes and after a while got them convinced after just hanging around. I didn't have a boom-guy avaiable so just grabbed my bags and got going. And sadly sound is one of those things that often suffers.

Story itself seemed a bit weak in some places.
Yes. I'm not really proud of the story and is something I will spend much more time with after this project. This story won me back a few actors I lost through time and I'm now back on track mostly becouse everything except the story is better then it used to.

Once again. thanks for taking time watching it smile

I have a strange feeling about this film.
On one hand I say its a very good movie, because (after I read what the movie was ment to be) you certainly reached your goal and made some awesome footage.

On the other hand I say, it's a bit too much of it all. The beginning is all preparation for 'this one date' There is also a bit too much attention to the pizza-girl at the start (I know this is ment to be, for it must be a sort of parody) and then the date is very tragic... He goes home with an awry feeling and then suddenly Pizza-girl--> Love. It happends very quickly.

You say you have 10 minutes of cut-out footage. I suggest you certainly put it in when you're submitting to the festival. Cuz although I haven't yet seen this footage. I think it will definatly make the movie more intresting and funny.

Again on the other side you can say: ' this movie is ment to be rather funny with a wink to american Sitcom', but do you, I wonder, want to hide behind this excuse ( If I may call it so).
Think about it.

Anyway, I do think it is a very good movie now, but I feel there is a lot more potential in the project. All you guys have to do is dig it out.

Greetz.

This film was from the begining to the end made with American Sitcom and Dawsons Creek especially in mind. Although, I don't see this as an excuse for my movie. Since every episode of Dawsons Creek is better then LAJF.

You say you have 10 minutes of cut-out footage. I suggest you certainly put it in when you're submitting to the festival. Cuz although I haven't yet seen this footage. I think it will definatly make the movie more intresting and funny
1) I do have. Originally, the Pizza-Girl wasn't a Pizza girl. So I got 2 scenes with her, not beeing a Pizza-Girl.
2)I got the original interduction with Danne and Alex. This was the first scene I shot and I'm emberresed about it. Moving from Action to Drama was a problem at first. I shot the movie as I used to shot my effects flick. Which bassicly means MTV-cuts and no master scene. Bringing this scene back to the movie would improve the story and the charachters. But it would bring down the quality of the movie over all.
3) The movie started out with a light-sex scene, there is nothing wrong with this scene. Although cutting it togheter, the scene didn't fit at all. The diffrent between the cheesy love and horny sex was to big, and the sex was too bad. razz
4) I also got a day-for-night scene. Lightning and color dosen't match with the other night scenes.

That's a bunch of scenes/mistakes, and reasons why they don't make the movie better.

Thanks for the comments, it made me think and I'll probably go through all the footage again before cutting togheter the final version of it.
I hope you got some pleasure out of it. smile

This was.............interesting. I guess it was the anticipation from all the trailers and talk of LAJF. the killed it for me. I saw something with a more in-depth story before I watched it. I'm sure if the 10 minuted were in it, and the pacing was changed, I'd love it. Cinematography and visual look were top notch as usual, and editing was good, although it could've been a bit tighter near the end. The music choices were good, but the sound levels went haywire at points, a well as the fact that I'm not swedih, and spent most of my time looking at the subtitles than the film.

It's not things you could change, but they kinda spoiled this for me. Still, you have put time and dedication into this, and it's fairly solid.

Yeah, that's abit sad that things like anticipation and hype can ruin stuff. I bet it would've been more interesting if it just showed up from nowhere. Still I thought stuff like trailers would get more people to watch it so. 50/50 good and bad.

Sadly I can't do anything more then agree with you. The 10 minutes would make a better movie if it was reshoot to fit the rest of the visuals and characthers. I'm going to do a second cut then I'm gonna leave LAJF behind me cause im so sick of this movie sleep

Thanks for the comment and watching the movie!

Hey Guys.
Just wanted to inform you that the "directors cut" of LAJF. is now available for download.

Also keep visiting www.ajpictures.se for news on the next flick.
