Hi, i joined FX a few months ago, well, im not exactly sure when but before Effects Lab came out. Or at least i remeber having a user before effects lab came out... Anywho, when i first came to FX i asked everyone about getting AlamDV2, but they just said, wait for effectslab, which i did, which was a good choice. Now, when effectslab came out, i heard in a few forums that now the FX Staff is working on, like, Chromanator 2. So, i would like to know if this is true, will it being comeing out anytime soon, and should i just wait for this new Chromanator, if it exist. Thanks.

Yes, it is true that Chromanator 2 is a goal for the future, and there has been plenty of talk about it. Although Chromanator 2 is a goal, the development depends on the success of their current products. So if you really want that version, you can help support them a little more by buying some of their merchandise, found here.

It also depends on whether or not more members are looking for "DigiGrade", and if they feel that that will be more worth it at the moment, but if you need a program for compositing and green screening, then you should get Chromanator now, because there is no set date for the release, and I believe it would be hard for them to tell you when to expect it at this time anyway.

Here is some of what you can expect though.

Hope this answer will do.

There's quite a big difference between the previous AlamDV2/EffectsLab advice you received and deciding whether to wait for Chromy2 or not. AlamDV2 was a very old and inferior product - it can't really be compared to EffectsLab on any level.

Chromanator, however, is already a very powerful and useful product and excellent value for money. Chromanator2 will be a big advance with new features and an interface that is more like EffectsLab's, but that doesn't stop Chromy1 still being a good program.

So basically it comes down to how quickly you need a compositing program, or whether you mind paying an upgrade fee when Chromy2 is released (bear in mind we don't have any kind of release date for Chromy2 yet).
