My grandpa's brother's wife's relative is Steven Spielberg's wife.

Since this is a forum about making movies, I thought it'd be something interesting to share. ^-^ razz

So she's your great aunt... what's her relation to Spielberg?

On a slightly-but-not-really related note, has anyone seen the movie Imaginary Heroes? One of my friends is in it.

My great uncle went to the Poles with Captain Scott, but had a good enough sense of prescience to not go with him on the last voyage.

Er...and I've kissed Ursula Andress, the first Bond girl.

And, um...Richard Wilson bought me lunch once.

Of course, none of them had a forum of adoring fans, so I reckon I'm the most famous out of all of them.

My mates mate occassionaly cooks for the Queen. Another is an Iranian prince ( who as far as I know doesn't cook at all )

They say we are connected to everyone else in the world by six degrees of seperation, i.e. from you to anyone else in the world there is a link of four people who have met / know the target person. In my above example that would mean : Me -> my mate -> his mate -> Palace staff -> The Queen -> most of the worlds rulers.... odd world innit.

At home, I have an amazing piece of memorabilia...it is no less a photo of football pundit Trevor Brooking which has been defaced and scrawled horns on by no less a personality than...Dominic Diamond. All bow down...

Sorry Mell, I was on a TV prog called Scottish Women, a christmas special, where half the audience was blokes. Dominic Diamond was part of the celeb folk in the audience. He was making some random point about something, I couldn't resist the chance to argue with him on TV... it won me many pints in the pub later.

In my last job I met Steve Martin a couple of times and talked to him on the phone once or twice (far taller than I expected).

I've also been cheek-to-cheek with Anna Friel - and I didn't even notice until it was all over.

I met Timothy Dalton but he wasn't in a good mood at all.

I gave Vic Reeves directions in London, he then drove past me later in his drop-top Jag and beeped at me - I looked very cool (honest I did).

Also met Joan Collins a couple of times - which was rather freaky - eeeek.

Oh, and both the Lloyd Webbers at different times.

There were a few more but I can't really remember them now - I think Joan Collins should win!

ohhh....I can beat you all...

My great great great great great grandad, was napoleon's doctor on St. Helen Island. Napoleon even gave him a watch as a gift, which I got from my grandad....nothing beats THAT !!!

And ,y grandad from south africa was in WW2 in the ROYAL AIR FORCE and was bombing austria. The very country I live in today biggrin
He later became mayor of a part of johannesburg...ofcourse playing cards against the government, who opressed africans(coloureds, if you want to say it that way)
He even worked in the very law firm, that managed to free Nelson Mandela in 1994.
He even shaked hands with Will Smith..when old Willi donated money to the Lions Club, as my grandad is the honory president of that Club.

My great grandma is the maker of "oma rusks", the biggest and most popular backery product in whole south africa. Nelson Mandela even use to come into her shop, when he was younger and studying at Fort Hare. My great grandma died at 100 years of age, and was supposed to receive an award fom Nelson Mandela, but died before given the prize of achieving such an amazing age.

My family "Greyvenstein" was a former ruler in Austria "greifenstein" but because of the World Wars, my former family members had to change the family name, in order to escape imprisonment because the name sounded too german, when they lived in Africa.

My dad was the 2nd Director of the most famous hotel/restaurant in the whole world...SACHER HOTEL...and he was the 2nd director of the then biggest "fast food chain" in the world ... "WIENERWALD"

Thats basically it! I guess I beat all of you...muhahaha...
Cheers,

I am related to the Queen of England. Shes in my family tree book. My best friend's dad directs One Tree Hill and formerly Dawson's Creek if those count for anything. I have met John Travolta at a wrap party here when he got done shooting Domestic Disturbance and my drunk aunt tried to dance with him.

My dad was best friends with Dennis Rodman all through highschool and middle school. In fact, in the TV biopic "Bad as I Wanna Be", some teenager played my dad.

And my great uncle is J.B. Hunt, the billionaire trucking tycoon. (In fact, at this year's family reunion, he pulled up in a Bentley with two Caddillac DeVilles following him. Although he was only there, in the hillybilly Arkansas, for like half a day.)

And I see Angie Harmon and Hilary Duff and Jessica Simpson occasionally in the big Dallas restaraunts.

When I was in high school the local NBC station filmed me skiing and they showed the clip as part of their lead in to the sports cast every night for about 6 months.

I’ve been on MTV twice, at spring break… that’s about all I’ll say about that. wink

My Grandpa is good friends with Lindsey Lohans father.

I met Jeff Corwin at a book signing.

I met John McCaine and talked to him for quite a bit.

I saw Arnol Schwarzeneger (sp?) and he was actualy shorter than I thought he would be.

My Dad had lunch and is friends with Alex Trebek. (sp?)

My Grandpa knows a few more famous people, he is a TV producer.

My Dad met a bunch of other people in Bosnia, he was there for a war-like thing and celebreties visited.

I am friends with an animator from Sony Pictures. He worked on Shrek, SpiderMan, and is the VFX Superviser for Open Season.

And my great great uncle invented bubble wrap.

BOO YAH!

Ha...i didn't realize you all knew so many people who know so many celebritys..

The best i've got is my mom was at a party in Bigsky and talked with Bill gates for a while. My dad's boss is close personal friends with robert redford(who said he's "Got to meet me"), and my sisters met pretty much every kickass band and had dinner with the drummer from No doubt.

Now me, all i've done is met dennis quaid a few times, and talked to sean astin once. aside from that, i've known The author of the "Eragon" books for awhile. i don't see him much anymore, but one of my friends is always hanging out with him.

Im friends with the grandson of Micheal Hausman, the executive producer of Gangs of New York, All the Kings Men, and some other older films.

I personally have met Steven Tyler

My nieghbor is the former owner of the convience store Genovese (now sold to Eckerds if you havent noticed)

My grandfather was a MOH soldier and becuase of it he met many presidents

My friend is cousins with a member of Lux Courageous, a rising band here in New York

And slightly off topic but my other friends band was just signed to a record deal, they are going on tour next year, and I may possibly get to direct their first music video. Which is a really good way to get my work out there in public, and help myself build a portfolio for film school

A good family friend of mine is John Bayley, the guy who did the theme song for the PBS show "Arthur". Beat that! What's that? Oh, right, you can't!

Was at least the first part the truth? My sister loved that show. Disney channel is the worst thing that ever existed in my opinion.

I saw Tom Hanks looking at storyboards for the Terminal. WOO!

I don't really understand the big deal about seeing/meeting celebrities. If you had never seen them in any movies before, they'd just be some person.

Indeed. But I'd say most people in this thread would agree with you, considering the tone of the posts. smile

There's three years between the release of the two. So probably six years in total production. It is not hard to gain 50 pounds in six years.

My ex-wife's mother is a famous rugby player's close friend and now housekeeper.

I didn't shake hands with John Travolta at the World Premiere of Battlefield Earth (I think you know why).

My friend's wife made Mel Gibson's legs in Chicken Run.

I shook hands with the Amazing Arthur Brown at a Hawkwind concert.

I once made Toyah Wilcox gaze wistfully at me.

No, I've pretty much met no-one biggrin
