Don't worry, the Xbox is old junk anyway... in a few months it'll be just like that old N64. And PC gaming is better anyway.

Besides, now you have something creative to do.

Hell yes, I grew up playing N64 at my cousins house, and now, even when they're like 5 dollars on Ebay, my mom wont let me buy one. But anyway, i just downloaded Project 64 and the goldeneye rom, and i was set biggrin

Goldeneye and perfect dark are still better than halo 1 or 2. The only problem with them is the framerate.

Zelda, Star Fox, Mario 64, Mario Kart, Banjo Kazooie. Holy crap, old games rocked. N64 is by far my favorite gaming machine. But, I didn't grow up playing SNES, I have played N64 since I was 6. That usually defines console players favorite system, what they grew up playing.

Remember your roots guys. NES was the best of all. Tecmo Bowl was the best.

Actually, I believe the Philips CD-I was the first console to use the CD format.

That's not really saying much, though, is it?

I never had the opportunity to play Goldeneye, unfortunately. Well, other than in 4-player, which was utterly, utterly rubbish. If it had had the option of playing with a decent control system I might have given it more of a chance.

The game just plays nice, you've tons of weapons. Oh yeah ! And the multiplayer rocks biggrin I still play it with friends.

GoldenEye is a great example how a shooter should be.

Hoa Yeah ; NightBreed, Speedball, Flashback, Another World, Monkey Island 1 and 2, Lotus Espirit Turbo, Alien Breed. The Amiga had some real classics.

I honestly don't think goldeneye was as fantastic as people make it out to be, before I explain why make sure you understand that I love Goldeneye.
Goldeneye is essentially a Halo of it's era, as in it took something that was widely available/done on the PC gaming platform and brought it across to the console system. Goldeneye was pretty much the first successful console fps deathmatch game, maybe it was even the first. And because of this, we all lapped it up.

In the grand scheme of all things, goldeneye wasn't massively special. Half Life was out on the market and deathmatch had been done well on the PC already. But still, we all loved it.
Halo did a similiar thing, in the bigger picture it's a mediocre game but it's the first to transplant some of the PC's gaming tech and ideas such as vehicles and an interactive storyline/storytelling onto a console. So it's understandable why people enjoy it so much.

Anyway, I loved Perfect Dark and Goldeneye. I think even though they didn't stand up to the PC's gaming standards they were still in their own way very unique and provided a type of gameplay unavailable anywhere else and for that reason I think that in a way, they did more than Halo did/has. But that's just my old skool gamer opinion wink

Anyway, Wasn't this a chromanator topic? biggrin

Haha. Right on Tarn. Goldeneye is pretty bad considering today's standards, but at the time, it was amazing, and I must say I played it an uncountable number of hours. I just recently pulled out the old N64 and played that, and I thought it was stupid and boring and had terrible controls.

I think Goldeneye is easy to control once you get used to it. With four friends it is great, but only if turbo mode is on.
