|This is Alpha stage effects that will be changing for Scene 6 of my film "Host" Alamdv was used to enhance certain effects, but this scene will be enhanced towards the end of Post production to include a whole range of new and more advanced effects. Alpha stage test only, but enjoy anyway:)|
This scene Story:- Daniel (goodie) has become a Host to an Alien Technology. In this scene, he begins to feel very ill in the club which results in him seeing other dead Hosts, and then finally, the Alien Technology is actived in him. This is only the last 20 seconds of the scene.

Yes, I am really impressed with this one too!
As I said before, one of very few clips were you don't just see some pasted-in effects, but real creative sfxwork and also good camera, cut, light and the rest that makes a good clip.
Absolutely ingenious. Can't wait to see more! :)

Because I'm very serious about making some kind of decent film this year, I decided to hire an actual Pyrotechnics guy to do the small explosions. Although CG can be a good thing, it really is no substitute for the real thing. With the real thing, u actually get crowd reaction to it, lighting from the pyro's and better write ups in the papers!
This whole 20 minute film will be costing me a small fortune, but I think it will be worth it in the end:)

nice, nice, nice! If this is what your short film will be like, please make it very soon!!! It looks very pro, and you seem to have planned and executed your effects well. Have you , or any of the other guys here, though about actually starting up a kind of Pixar/I.L.M thing? U could charge people to add effects to their films etc.

Just so I can understand, what made you give this 1 star Oondah?

I just got a very nice message from oondah that said he was new to the site and did not realize that he was voting 0's and 1s. "He gave mine a 0 so I asked what I could improve" It was very genuine appology. By the way, your clips rock.

ok, I can understand a lower rating for clips people dont like, but 3 1star votes for this? Was there a reason for 1 star votes here?

Generaly, I don't give 'test' footage anything higher then a 3. However, the author has obviously shown his talent for blending CG elements with real footage, which for those of use who have done is EXTREMELY difficult. I rated this film 4/5 ALMOST a 5 but not quite, due to the fact that it would of been nice to see more of a sequence. (beginning, middle, end, ect...) However, that's really petty of me to say. I enjoyed this clip a lot, becuase of the fact that when analyzing it, one can easily see the precision it takes to make this sort of work. All of the extras, all the pyrotechnics. It's very well done. Way to go! Please post link to websight of the film if that's possible.

Thanks for all the comments about Host. The whole film is taking longer than expected, but for good reason. Since the clip and others I have done, I have started a CG company in a similar mould to I.L.M for Scotland under 8th Day Productions, and with work rolling in, Host has been put back slightly, but will hopefully still be finished in time for the festivals. I've also taken on new staff, and so things should go quicker!
There are a few beta test scenes completed, and I'll upload them soon to my website. Again, thanks for the mails and comments, and feel free to email any questions u may have.

The sfx was really nice. Man, I wish I could do stuff like that.
The crowd reaction was a little fake, though. I'm not sure why, it just didn't look right. Anybody else get the same feeling, or is it just me?

The clip was cool the sounds seemed a little over the top but what really stuck out to me was the picture quality why does this clip look so much better than everything else on this site(that I have seen anyway)?
