For those of you who don't know, I went and joined the United States Marine Corp to fight Bush's war. Well I just graduated from boot camp and I thought I'd like to post a thread for old time's sake! You're probably thinking "I hope the Drill Instructors beat the stupid out of that child." No luck sorry. This is just another worthless thread that'll stir up trouble and most likely will be deleted before anyone save Aculag can respond. OH WELL!! On to some pictures!

Yours truly in the best military uniform there is, the famous Dress Blues. Motivating isn't it?

Yours Truly's platoon giving the ol' one handed salute to a bunch of officers and a few gentlemen. Guess which one is me!

473 new Marines fresh out of a 3.5 mile run. You know the ladies be flockin'.

Thats all for now! Lucky for you guys you only have to deal with me until the 4th o' October, thats when I go back to Camp Pendleton to learn how to kill bodies in a very efficient manner. Two in the head and they are dead is what they say. Anyways.... I hope you enjoy my pictures and I hope they motivate you enough to enlist in the finest military branch there is. SEMPER FI DO OR DIE KILL KILL KILL.

I was seriously just an hour ago wondering where McMurphy went. Same with effstops, and you both turned up today. You look snazzy in the uniform (if it truly is you, you tend to do random things...) Glad to see you back though, I think. In pic number 2., I have no idea which one you are, but surely you aren't black, Asian, or where massive glasses. I would never imagine you being in the marine corp.

While I don't support Bush in any sense of the word, or any branch of the military for that matter, it is purely my own opinion. In the end, if it is something you enjoy, then by all means stick with it, and I give my congratulations.

Anyone that joins the army is crazy period, since the army sucks. But we're talking about THE MARINES here. Now that I think about it anyone who joins the Marines is crazy too, but crazy AWESOME.

I don't know if I'll go to Iraq or not, but I most likely will. Do I care? No. The chances of actually dying are so small I'm not afraid, plus it'll give me experiences very few people in the world will ever have.

After Iraq is North Korea, now THERES a war.

In my brief period spent fiddeling with MBT's in the British Army, I had occassion to be teamed up with various US troops, for a number of reasons. While there is a certain stereotyping that comes across in movies and such of the US forces, they a truely dedicated and focused force, and up there at the top of the US Armed Forces are the US Marines. If you can keep that dedication and focus without losing yourself then Godspeed, keep safe and always remember to do what is right.

Peace,

P.S.

It is true what they say about the US giving medals for things the British take for granted... Completing training, ranges, tying shoe laces... razz

While I really don't support Bush or his war, if there has to be this war, then someone has to fight in it. I have one cousin in the "elite" group of paratroopers and hes over in Iraq now. He doesn't kill, just saves, and he loves it. Then I have another cousin who is int he Marines stationed in Korea. He hates it to death and says all he does is sit around and fear for his life. Anyways, best of luck to ya man.

I did a quick google image search -American Soldiers In Iraq- some interesting pictures of the 'experiences' you can look forward to.

Don't get me wrong,I have the utmost respect for people who join up to Kill Kill Kill...

I just think that after seeing the images of burned and broken bodies that it should be taken a little more seriously, rather than using it as a good way to attract ladies.

PS

I have never met a woman who is attracted to a sweaty man with his sports socks pulled up tight.......

You will find that "American Marines In Iraq" yields slightly different results.

Again, Semper Fi.

The Marine Corp tries to stay away from that kind of stuff. Currently I have one medal for joining during a time of war, and a badge showing my skill at the M16A2 (Expert, the highest you can get sleep ). If you are a Drill Instructor, Recruiter or Security Forces Marine then you get a certain ribbon. Other than that most are for wars and such. Google gives me this: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/navy/l/blnavawards.htm Thats just some of what you can get.

Oh and I'm not a soldier, I'm a MARINE. Huge difference.

He was being sarcastic, and poking fun at people who call it "Bush's War".

I don't understand where some of you people get off making idiotic cracks about the war, just because McMurphy joined the Marines. You do realize that there were people in the armed forces BEFORE Bush was in office, right? So what's wrong with someone joining now?

In keeping with the tradition of this thread, now that I have made a snide comment towards someone, I will say:

"Good luck, McMurphy."

To cover it up. LOL wink

I'm with Waser.

Maybe people are being sarcastic and poking fun at McMurphy because he rarely gave thought to what he was posting in other peoples threads. Mind, I don't believe anyone wishes him anything but the best. So for the second time from me, good luck out there. And on a tangent...

McMurphy - I hope you like Spiders, because there are spiders out there which you can pretty much ride. Infact, last thing I heard they were housing new troops in the shells of skin shedding arachnids so prepare yourself mentally and physically for living inside what used to be a giant spider. This outer spider basically lays a zillion eggs every full moon, sprouting waves of flesh eating children each armed with teeth that inject anasthetic so you can't feel them eating your face while you sleep. So sleep with your eyes open...eyes open!

Anyway, Cheerio!

People have great misconceptions of those spiders. I'm assuming you mean camel spiders, which are no more than a couple of inches long. Still, that's damn enormous for a spider.

At first glance I found myself wondering if this was another not so factual post... biggrin

Regardless, my Grandfather was a Marine, served post Korean War through Vietnam. He retired in the 70's. I am proud of his service and appreciate the blood and sweat he gave to make sure my candy ass can sit in a climate controled computer room and type this message.

I appreciate all those that choose to serve in the armed forces but have a special place in my heart for those that earn the globe and anchor. To get one you have to be one bad mo' foe. Good luck and God's speed my friend.

Ok, I wasn't poking at anyone. I honor Murphey's decision, because he is one of the many who keep us in the US safe. I was like Aculag said, being sarcastic to people who say "fight Bush's war." I dont think I would poke at anyone preventing harm to any person, in the US or any other country.
