Has anyone pre-ordered an XBOX 360, due to come out late November?

I just did. I got:

XBOX 360 Premium $399.99
Extra Wired Controller $39.99
Play and Charge Kit (for the wireless controller) $19.99
Need for Speed: Most Wanted $59.99
Perfect Dark Zero $49.99

I'm #51 in line and can't wait until I can get it biggrin Has anyone else pre-ordered one yet, or do you plan on waiting in line or something?

I considered it, but most places are all sold out. Also, money is an issue.

I'm gonna hold off for a while until I get my next-gen system. Between the Revolution's cool controllers and download service, the XBOX coming out earlier with the 20 GB (Or is it 40 GB?), and me being a Playstation fanboy, I'm gonna have to think about it for a while.

It'd be much wiser to wait for all 3 consoles to be out before making a choice though.

While you enjoy your 570 dollar investment, I'll be happy with my undoubtedly less than half that price Nintendo Revolution.

And I'll be happy with the $120 I spent 8 years ago on the Nintendo 64 that I still play. As well as my SNES, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy Color. I haven't needed anything since N64.

Mario Kart 64 and Super Smash Bros. 64 rule over all.

I do not want a Revolution; my Gamecube is enough for me.

I also do not want the PlayStation 3. If you want to ask me "why?", well, it's because I've enjoyed the XBOX and the 360 should be definetly a very good system that I will enjoy.

I think its funny when everybody can't find anything more productive to do with $500. Advance my career and buy some equipment? Hell no, I need to sit on my ass in a dark room and play games.

I'm 14, what career do I have?

Ever heard of the holidays, where people buy you things?

Ever heard of a job, where you get paid?

Super Smash Bros. Melee >>>>> SSB 64

I wanted 360 until I realised that it is nothing new. I won't get it unless they announce a Banjo game, because right now there aren't enough good games and that would make it complete. PS3 is powerful and all, but no different game-wise than the 360, same old same old. MGS is the only game I am slightly interested in. Revolution will be cheap, and it's got everything I have evr wanted in a game console.

Bryce, kids should be able to have fun. Most people here have enough equipment (kids) and can advance their careers by making films. FCRabbath is a brilliant young fimmaker, he has a little handicam and Adobe Premiere. Most people here have an NLE and a camera and if they are talented, they will make it while still having a childhood. Push your film careers, but still have all the fun as a kid because it is going by so fast.

I'm not interested. I paid 100 bucks for my game boy color half a decade ago, 30 bucks for my N64 quite a few years back, 80 bucks for my GBA a few years ago, a GameCube for 100 bucks a couple years back, and 100 bucks for my DS a few months ago.

My Game Boy Color lived for over 5 years, which is more than I could possibly imagine, my N64 lived for a year, my GBA lived for 4 years, my GameCube lived for 2 years (it's collecting dust now), and my DS is doing fine. It's great for traveling.

I am completely uninformed about the PS3, Revolution, X-Box 360. And, I guess I can say Ignorance is Bliss. I would, like Bryce and Serpent, rather spend $500 on filmmaking stuff. I would buy myself a copy of the Adobe Video Collection combined with my other saved-up money.

Right now, I'm waiting for Super Smash Bros. to come out for the DS...hahaha....that would be AWESOME.

I did. Unfortunately I signed up for a preorder before I had a way to get 400 smackers by the end of November. Oh well, that's the American way.

I'll probably end up buying a Revolution when it's released as well, mainly for the inevitable Zelda. smile

You will be waiting forever then, probably. If you want a list of great DS games coming soon, I will gie you some info about some upcoming titles, just hit me up on AIM. The closest you will get to SSB on DS is Jump Superstars! in Japan. You will have to import, bt translating is quite simple, people have completely translated it and wrote FAQs at http://gamefaqs.com Import it, it will be worth it, just like Smash, but less deep than Melee, same style. I am going to import it when I get the chance.

GCNs are less useless than you think, I am sure there are a few games that you will LOVE that are out right now, but it is being ignored and is in a shlump stage, so only fans are really even buying games for it anymore. The hotness is at PS2, XB, XB360, DS, and PSP. But overlooking these games is making people miss out, all are getting great reviews, but poeple are just ignoring.

I never said anything about $500 being better spent on film stuff, but the opposite, However MY opinion is that it should be spent carefully on fun stuff, but in the end you will have more fun with equipment (for me.) I play games at my friends house, and I buy games every now and then (mostly DS,) but right now my money goes to film stuff. I also have to pay off a car that I am about to get. I have negative money right now.

you know the boomerang controller is going to most likely be changed by the time the system actually comes out, right?

just to throw it out there, the only system i see worth reserving is the revolution.

Wait any longer for the PS3 and there wont be anything left of it. Seriously everytime I hear something about the console it has had something removed in order to keep the cost down. That and the recent article about the cost of developing games for it has pushed out some software houses has really turned me off. I hope they do throw away the boomerang........

PS3's core specs are superior to those of the 360s. Still, looks like Xbox 360 is the place to be this Christmas.

Uh...actually it isnt. Technically, processor speed is the same with the both, because xbox runs in 64 bit, as ps3 only runs in 32. XBox has 3 cores, and ps3 has 1 cell core (which equals 7 cpus at 32 bit) Memory and graphics are about the same.

You must believe in the false, then: There are no official specs of the PS3 yet. NO ONE but Sony knows if the hardware will be better than the XBOX 360...

BUT! Guess what? WHO CARES if the hardware is one MHZ faster? (razz), if the 360 plays the games great and looks great, what's the problem!?

Just because something unnoficially "sounds" better doesn't mean it is.

I don't see many differences at all, and the ones I do, almost all of them are in favor for the XBOX from what I can tell.

However, as I said, "NOT MANY DIFFERENCES." They are both awesome systems.

I never knew anything about PS3 hardware being confirmed, but if it has, then that's great. I fully support the PlayStation series, I don't buy them though.

PLus, they obviously can't get too far away from each other. If the did it would make multi-platform games somewhat of an inconvenience for the developers.

I've preordered my 360, and I'm looking forward to it, although I expect it will be a little disappointing. Really, it's just the XBox with better graphics, but there are two important things to note about the 360:

1. There will be a lot of PC games that will appear on the 360 for the next year or so, because porting to the 360 is simple because of it's similarities with a PC. The XNA environment should enhance this. What this means is that we'll see plenty of games for the 360, but it is yet to be seen how good these will be.
2. Xbox arcade will allow you to download sharware-like games for your 360, which should mean a couple of interesting indie titles.

I'm planning on getting PGR3 for the 360, but I'm looking forward to playing the mini game Geometry Wars 2 as much as the main game. See the video http://xboxyde.com/news_2105_en.html .

I'm actually hoping that the Revolution is going to save this generation.

I think the most interesting thing about the Xbox 360 is actually the "OS" is runs on. The ability to access it at any time during any game is pretty cool. Especially since a lot of games for the original Xbox weren't even Live-enabled; well now they all are, at least from the standpoint of being able to see you're friends list and stream you're music through every game.

I guess that stuff is all pretty cool if you were an Xbox owner and ever said 'Man... they should do that'

I agree with a few of the other people. Revolution. Then, with $500, you will hopefully be able to buy one, along with 2 games, and have about $100 leftover. I don't know how much it will cost, but I hope it's less than $300.

You do know that it's pretty much an industry standard for consoles to start at $300 or higher, right?

I mean, you can't expect to get the Revolution for cheap just because the Gamecube is such. It costs a lot of money to produce a system, and they're never cheap at launch.

PS3 video memory is about 500% faster actually. You can't say the PS3 won't be better as it's coming out about a year later!

Yeah, but remember, PS2 got the jump on XBox and that's what Microsoft is hoping to pull here. PS2 pretty much came out on top this generation, which could be thanks to that, or several other things.

Exactly, and that's why I'm guessing Sony won't release it for another year. By that time, all the kids will be 'begging their parents' for a PS3.

The christmas market is the ULTIMATE release time tbh. Hence the 360, iPod video etc.

Personally, I'm interested in all 3 systems. But I'll definitly be waiting untill all 3 are our to decide. Right now I'm hedging toward PS3, maily for disk capacity. PS3 will be useing Blue-Ray disks, which are supposed to hold 30-50 gigs, whereas 360 will be useing standard DVD, which hold 8. I've already read interviews with developers complaining that when they get to cross-platform games, a game that will fit on 1 PS3 disk will take 3-4 (or more) 360 disks, which will drive up game costs.

Revolution is easier to produce because its not as "powerful", and the head honchos at Nintendo have said many times that if they want their system to appeal to nongamers (which is the whole reason for the one handed controller), then it has to be AFFORDABLE. I wouldn't call 300 dollars affordable. I'd guess it'll be 200-250, effectively whooping XBox360s and im presuming PS3s asses

Yeah, the controller is awesome. I can't wait for revolution to come out. I think sony should branch out a little more in naming their systems. PS1 PSX PS2 PSP? It's all playstation. Where Nintendo has nes, super nes, game boy, n64, gamecube, ds. And microsoft is pretty new at making video games. I am trying to start an arguement, by the way.

Well that's not how you do it, this is how:

Bush hates black people, Passion of the Christ is the best movie ever, PCs own macs, republicans stink, terorists are great, all muslims are evil, and Waser is scottish. smile

--> I think Sony's console naming makes more sence, since it avoids confusion for those that are new to console gaming (as in, "the Super Nintendo is that one that came after the Gamecube 64, right?").

Oops sorry. I meant for that to say, "I am not trying to start an arguement." My mistake.

That is correct.

biggrin razz

All three systems are meant for different people. Nintendo gamers will get the Revolution, Sony gamers with get the PS3, and Microsoft gamers will get the 360. And yes, some of them will be getting more than one system.

But you can't say a system is going to suck because they're all equal in their own respective ways.

I've preordered my 360, and I'm looking forward to it, although I expect it will be a little disappointing. Really, it's just the XBox with better graphics...

Last I checked the xbox 360 is an all in one multimedia jukebox..Read about what it can do..it definitely can do tons more besides play games. (multimedia wise) Oh yeah, it also has games with upped graphics and gameplay.

PS3 video memory is about 500% faster actually. You can't say the PS3 won't be better as it's coming out about a year later!
I dont see any reference to the ps3's memory being faster..they use the same type...and because of the 64 bit system..the xbox is as powerful as the ps3..and the revolution will be as powerful as all three. The companies have to make sure of this or their system will fail in the console wars. And just because something comes out later doenst mean its better. Look at the original matrix..then the last two eek
