Movie: Rage

Summary:: The silence of rage builds between a couple until it explodes into a display of violence. In the midst of this violence and confusion, the couple changes forever.
Author: irishcult

A word from the creator: I envisioned this a lot different, but with lack of time, talent, and sound effects, it's all I could come up with. If i was to redo it a lot would be different; but it's too late. I should have studied the style better, but it will have to do. I don't expect to win, but it should be a good experience, and hopefully I'll see some other good footage. Maybe next time I'll have something better.

A word from the creator: Deepcoiler: This was filmed and edited over the course of about 3 hours, so if you consider it anything better then decent, I'd say we did a good job. Please tell me how the color correction was, I did not have time to film at night, so I tried my best to color it like night. Enjoy.
film freak: It was a rushed film, but fun to make

Movie: Nothing but the End

Summary:: When's there's somthing strange in your neighborhood, who ya gonna call? Tyle Kobolowski investigates the haunting of an office building, what resides here is more horrifying than anything he ever could've imagined.

Author: mantra
Studio: rockutainment
A word from the creator: The footage for ‘Nothing But The End’ was actually shot some 6 years back in 1999. Initially I did make an edit but was never satisfied with it, and with other ensuing commitments it had lay dormant in rushes form since ’99. So, finally, I’ve dusted off the rushes and put this short together for the Hauntfest Film Challenge. It proved to be a fun project to get together in time for Halloween; I hope you enjoy watching it.

Rage

Decription- The Silence of rage builds between a couple until it explodes into a display of violence. In the mist of this violence and confusion the couple changes forever.

Directors thoughts- I invisioned this a lot diffrent but with lack of time talent and sound effects its all i could come up with. If i was to redue it alot would be diffrent but its to late i should have studied the style better but it will have to do. I dont expect to win but it should be a good experiance and hopefully i'll see some other good footage. Maybe next time i'll have something better.

Thanks to:
Jake- For being my friend and having the same grusome humor i have.
Michelle- For well being in the film and taking off ur shoe i know u think ur feet r distubing and u know what ur right.
Mr.CHew- For letting me use a schools camera because mine is broken and just for being the best teacher ever. I will miss you when you leave.
CHEW!
Sam- Thank you for being a nerd with me and creative to.
Jeremy- I might spell you name wrong but ur still my friend. U know more about computers then anyone i will probly ever know. Athough ur creativeity is a little lacked.

WEll i''m sure there is more but i think that is fine.

Thank you for watching

you know I think your right...it is a prediction! if you take the "b" and turn it up side down you get a "P", take off the connection at the end and you get a "F" take the "e" and take out the connector and you get "c" then take off the bottom and you get "r" so thats "Fr" the using one of the connectors you took off you can connect the bottom of the "n" making "o". Then if you start at the end of the alphebet and count back "3" you get "x" then count forward "3" and you get "z" "Froz" and the next letter in the word "zero" after the letter "z" is "e" so thats "Froze" then using the connectors that you took off the other letters and taking the connectors off the number "8" then combining all of the conectors you get "Frozenpede" eek

the forces at work in this world never cease to amaze me

I made the pic myself by scribbling out the watermark, pixel-by-pixel, in Paint. Took awhile, as you can tell. There's still some green stuff in there.

I am in fact using your idea, but I had to alter a couple of things to fit my means. I hope to get it done in time.

I know this post isn't an entree, but just a comment: that sig bites. I would avoid winning if that was even part of the prize. wink I think someone should work on a better one and send it to Timmy so he can edit, because that is just 2 standard fonts over black. I would want a cool one, I wouldn't even use it. o_0

EDIT:

There's my attempt, I am a new Photoshopper, but I would much rather use that than what's currently available. Ben, don't be a smart arse and clone stamp it and insert your name. smile If someone can do better then make yours and top mine. *Note, this was slapped together in 30 minutes, I can clean up borders and text*

Not that great. Really full of stuff you dont need to see. I say work on your storyborading and diffrent camera angles. and cut the crud out. And make a scence intresting. A kid taking 4 minutes out of the movie to fill a scare crow is boring. ANd the begining of the chas scene was bad but got better. It was confusing the kid needed to react to the scare crow moving.
I think you can do beter but keep tring

Umm..... well it was interesting you need to work on it I mean the movie was 6 min. long and could have been alot less. Also try to find a way to stabilize your camera more. When watching a film where the camera moves when not need to, it is distracting to me.

I propose that TimmyD adds hyperlinks to the current films, titles, creator's name/notes about a film on the first post in this thread. If he can't be here to do it, I will.

EDIT: I added an entries post, third down from the first one on this thread.

If you could, try to distinguish which films are from "In List" participants, and which films aren't (I'm sure most to all of them will be in list participants anyways). Thanks Ben.

Sorry if I missed this, but is there an official format (.mov, .wmv) to submit in? So far, both entries have been .wmv, and I won't stoop to the level of installing Windows software onto my purty Mac.
Quicktime is preferred. You want a format EVERYONE can play, since the people will be the ones voting for your film.

Irishcult. Your movie...Well. It wasn't the best. It was EXTREMELY short and just so. Meh, not very original. I hope you do better in the future.

Well mines coming soon all I have to do is add the music and titles. Mine isn't very original either so I know I won't win but I think it helped me learn alot about how not to make a film. I have filmed like 2 movies in the past two weeks and I didn't like either of them. So I resorted to making this quick film thats not that good either but shorter. So you guys don't have to suffer through my bad film making. Hopefully i'll get better as I go along.

I know I have asked this before, but I ask for a definitive answer about anyone who could temporarily host my horror film. Its roughly 15 minutes long, but its not done yet. I hope to finish it by Saturday night or Sunday morning. Anyone who is willing to post the movie with due haste, please send me an email at klausb36@aol.com. Thank you.

Lisab, I am not going to go out of my way to send you an email. Read the topic, there are only 3 pages before your post, just control "f" (find): host. I said I was willing, but note to all: my HD failed, and I am terribly sorry if you depended on me. I will let this thread know if I get my computer up and running again. However, there are more important things I need to do right when I get it back, but hopefully I'll have it soon. In the meantime, use putfile.com, yousendit.com, etc. Both are great. When I get my HD running, I'll do a rehost for those who used a CSB product and want their film in the cinema.

3 remaining days, by the FXhome clock, which is what we're operating on.

Remember, as soon as the FXHOME clock turns to 12:00 October 31 all entries for the prize are closed. You do not have all day on Halloween to enter them, they have to be in FOR Halloween.

Hmmm? The Scarecrow or Rage? Both very well-made movies with lots of time and effort. biggrin But at least they were made, which is more than I can say for my movie. (I have an AMAZING idea, need to write a script once I get some research done....it's gonna be AWESOME!!!)

I didn't have enough time to make mine once I got an idea. Maybe we can do something like real Film Festivals do. Each person on the in-list gets a different Character Name, Location, and Color that they have to incorporate into the movie.

Hi all,

Here is my entry to the competition:

Title: ‘Nothing But The End’

Summary: One mans journey…

Author: Mantra

Studio: rockutainment

A word from the creator: The footage for ‘Nothing But The End’ was actually shot some 6 years back in 1999. Initially I did make an edit but was never satisfied with it, and with other ensuing commitments it had lay dormant in rushes form since ’99. So, finally, I’ve dusted off the rushes and put this short together for the Hauntfest Film Challenge. It proved to be a fun project to get together in time for Halloween; I hope you enjoy watching it.

Download Information: 11.9mb / Quicktime7 Movie / 5mins 24secs

Here's mine! Can't wait to check all the entries out tommorrow

Tyle Kobolowski - Investagatorum Paranormalis
Quicktime 6 - 3 minutes 38 seconds - 6.9 megs

Studio: Cinfinity Productions

Summary: When's there's somthing strange in your neighborhood, who ya gonna call? Tyle Kobolowski investigates the haunting of an office building, what resides here is more horrifying than anything he ever could've imagined.

Word from the creator: Created just for this contest, a fun little spooky movie. Hopefully the first in a long series starring this character. Also the first film of mine shown around FXHome, let me know what you think.

That was great Mantra. My only complaint is the acting was a somewhat cheesy at a few points in the film. If this were in the Cinema, I'd give it a 5. What was it filmed on?

I suppose, if you worked with someone, you could SPLIT the prize (if you won). Which would mean ABOUT 250 points each. I think Ben has, or will be, creating MS Paint PICTURES for runner-up's! YAY! HURRY AND POST YOUR FILMS!!!

What's the file size, because Archive has no limit, unless your browser can't handle the size, but that would have to be in the GBs.

My film IS going to be a few minutes late, just thought I'd give a heads up (it's still rendering). lisab8195, you've had plenty of time to work out these issue's (3 weeks). The turnout isn't one that I was expecting, so I'm willing to give you another hour to work this thing out. For future events, make better use of your time and be more efficient. If this contest were a bigger deal, I'm sure you wouldn't be able to submit your film late, under any circumstances. Good Luck.

Well, here's mine.

Title: Real?

Summary: Got a late start on the contest and came up with this.

Author: miker

Studio: NightMare Productions

A word from the Creator: Didn't have anyone to act so I ended up acting/filming/doing everything. I learned how hard it is to create a film with just you and a tripod.

Real?

Download Information: 7 MB / wmv / 3:38.

I'll post a .MOV version up ASAP

Mellifluous, I don't get it. The guy goes on the grave, the other guy appears, and then is found dead? It had some great color correction though.

Lisab, i'm tempted to say no to you. You've seen everyone's offers for hosting and have had days to act on it. I dont know though...

Im surprised with the last minute turnout, i like it!

I'll be posting a poll soon, along with an updated list of movies with links.

Everyone who has a submission:: could Private Message me the Title, Summary, Author, Word from the Creator (optional), Download information, thumbnail, and a link to the movie file. This is just so i can keep track of everything and post it on the topic post.

I'll be posting the poll soon.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED IN THIS CONTEST. MAY THE BEST FILMMAKER WIN!

Rearrange 'ssjaaron' to 'jorsan'. Change that 's' to a 'd'. Anyone else draw the parallel? wink

Pardon my lateness.

My film is crappy and it was finished 2 weeks ago, and has been on the internet, I just haven't been on FXHome enough to remember to post it.

We've been swamped in our creation of a haunted house in our actual house. (me and ben) and for me it's 10 or so minutes until midnight (Halloween) so, I'm SORRY if I didn't make the deadline. Plans got in front of getting it posted, and I'll have a video of the haunted house creation (and all the debates and yelling that went into it between Ben, Myself, and others) on the internet soon. IT IS AWESOME. But, back to the movie:

No, nothing else running apart from Premiere, and I disabled itunes in Processes too.

And make sure you get rid of the extra a and s too, and yes, you've got a mighty coincidence...

File: Divx (if you are on a mac you can use this codec)

The movie I was planing, and working really hard on got cancelled cause the lead role had to go on vacation when we were nearly done.
But fear no!! I wanted to make a halloween movie, so I did. It's a bit short (and wierd) but it's kind of like what all horror movies are like, just as scary, and just as good IMO razz

So watch it, and enjoy it.

Here it IS!

TimmyD, have you got my info, I sent it early yesterday but it hasn't been added to the first page yet. Do we really need to be so strict about that when not even half the contestants got a film submitted? Do we really need to make more reasons for there to be less films to judge?

Klut, the link is the problem, not the file...we can't hear the sound or see the video cause there's something wrong with the URL.

Frozenpede, they said it had to be submitted by the 31st, meaning it had to be submitted before midnight early Halloween morning. But given the low turnout, I personally am all for letting everyone with a film in.

I'm sorry everyone, i will PM everyone if i got the details or not, please dont worry, it's just that i am extremely busy with school right now, so i'm sorry. Everything will get done however, it just may take a little longer than projected.

The Plumber

A Klaus Krew Production

The story of a fugitive who steals a plumber's identity and embarks on a maniacal slaughtering. Beware; this horror film is more disturbing than a plumber's butt crack.

TimmyD, come on, how about being a nice guy, and letting the films that came in on the 31st participate. The more contestants, the better, right? There are some really good ones, that were only a tad bit over the line. Couldn't you let them slide?

For real. I understand you taking affirmative action on getting this contest going, but this was miker's deal, and you delegating all the rules and stipulating who can and can't be in is....well...........kinda whiney.

I don't see what the big deal is, letting people into the contest. It's just an internet contest. Big deal.

Hey lay off of Timmy alright. he is just trying to run his contest. If you didn't get in you didn't get in. it shouldn't be a big deal. There will be more contests. Just let Timmy and Miker deal with things the way they want to. Everyone knew the rules a long time ago and you entered the contest knowing the rules. Lets just all get along

Atom, don't post things like that if you dont really have an idea of what's REALLY going on. Me and Miker have talked about mostly every rule that me and him have set in the contest, and we're still keeping close in touch with Aim and are currently organizing things.

Ok, heres for the good news: Everything should be up and finished by tonight USA Eastern time, so get ready. AND, the poll will be up for exactly one week from when i start it. Yeah.

I think anyone who enters before the poll is in. Lisab's is just sitting there. Not letting it in would be a crime.

Why is it that some people can manage to post their films on time and some can't? The contest rules wont be altered to fit YOUR needs. It wouldn't be fair to those who were responsible with their time. Just take this as a learning experience and BE ON TIME for future contests (there will be many more to come). I admit mine was late, therefore my film wont be eligable either. If you feel the due date for the films was unclear, you had plenty of time to ask about it to make it clear. It is just an internet contest, I think you'll survive if your film isnt eligable.

well, since there is a considerable amount of films that were late, how about a different poll for those? *bes suggestive*

Exactly, if its just an internet contest, then why should people care they aren't getting in? (The whole "its just an internet contest" thing is a double sided sword, people.)

EDIT:And i find being rated down for this is absolutley preposterous, please remove that rating. The rating confirmation specifically says that you are not to rate people down because you disagree with them, which i believe the case is here.

EDIT2:Thank you.

Listen,

ssjaaron and myself discussed his entry, it was late and therefore not eligible. Me and miker also decided that its your own fault for not getting it in on time, this was up for a week, and all of the information was there.

Do not continue this argument on this topic, PM or mabye we can do a group chat thing, but stop with the arguments on this topic, this was intended to be a fun thing and it's seemingly gone corrupt. I will admit there was a lack of organization and such, but it was Me and Miker doign this in our free time. Stop arguing, a week from now we'll have the results and we can be done with this, and mabey we can do better with any future contests.

Thank you,
TimmyD

OK i see but still that was not very clear. Next time try to say that a little bit more ahead of time and make sure everybody knows. Sometimes on these forums people will just read the rules and then make there movie so, you can't always rely on them to go looking through every page for missing info. Just try to be a little organized next time. And I would say that this is a little more your fault than anyones who did not make the deadline because they didn't know that it was on fxhome time. Because it was even said until 3 days left

The Gun is probably one of the most confusing movies I've seen on here. "Hey we got a gun in the mail" "I think I'll wake up." "Hey someone went to stock up on stuff I think I'll go back to bed." "Ok, now I'll roll over in bed." Gun Noise, End.

Is this how it's supposed to end?

I'm in agreement with Timmy on this one, as Unfortunate as the understanding may be it has taught you both a valid lesson, these are;

Timmy - Be more specific in the future when you're dealing with people who might misinterpret certain rules. Whilst I think you're doing a great job with this competition so far, it wouldn't hurt for you to spell out the obvious sometimes.

SSJ - Don't leave it to the last minute, your submission was only 10 minutes before the deadline by your own watch which is cutting a fine line really. Most submissions were handed in days before the deadline - learn from their example.

It might also be worth noticing that the amount of negative force points you've amassed by generally being immature/over emotional about a generally silly subject has already cost you more than donating 20 force to the winner, perhaps it's time you bit the bullet? It really isn't the end of the world.

There's always the FXhome christmas contest to enter. wink

Im torn, I dont think the comp went real fair...but then thats not the fault of whoever wins so they still deserve the 20....but so does whoever wins ssjaarons contest

I might just cough up 40...even though I made a big fuss about giving up anything earlier haha.

You're more then welcome to create your own contest. I learned a ton about organization and how to run things better. I think our next contest will be much better off. Anyways, I hope everyone enjoyed this somewhat and got the main point out of this contest, to have fun.

Heh, yeah.

Starting up a competition for the movies which weren't part of this competition (If you didn't stick to the rules then you essentially excluded yourself) is a little silly really. We can't have competitions popping up for everything because it would create a rather stale environment for fair competition.

Oh, and because FXhome will be running a competition soon too. Don't exhaust yourselves over 500 force points when you could be entering a contest to win something far greater.

I dont really view ssjaarons comp as a seperate one seeing as all the films were made for the Hauntfest and most people beleived that they HAD followed the rules...thats why some of us question the fairness.

Anyway enough of that, its over. Why dont we set up the next competition now so that you could have.....little less then 2 months? for the Christmas competition..... in fact here I go to start the thread smile

Great idea Aculag. I think it would be cool if you got force for entering, like, the contest starter gives all who participate a +1 or something. That way, there will be no winner, but everyone gets something, and it's totally fair.

C'mon people, watch these and vote!!!! I don't mind losing, but I'd like to see some kind of race among the entries. It's kinda boring to see one entry with fifty votes and everyone else with one.

Now that it's such a runaway hit, I'm kind of embarrassed to admit that I didn't understand "Nothing But The End." It's gorgeous-no doubt about that, but anyone care to explain what was happening?

The concrete knowledge and immense precision that goes into these contests amazes me. A contest that was oh so quick to exclude late entries, now can't even remember when it started the poll.

I agree with Hybrid-Halo. Althogh there was lack of orginazation it was a huge learning experiance and what little orginazation that it did have should still count as something and be taken seriously. and if you didnt make the cut just put up with it and wait till next year which will hopefully be more orginized and maybe post the ontest eairlyer so that there is more time to get a film done. So thank you Timmy for holding this contest.

Thank you all very much for any complements or anything i've recieved for this contest, but not all credit can go to me, Miker was the one who started it! razz Us both together really ran it and made it go and discussed things, but it looks as if i was the "spokesperson" for the group. Thank you all smile

Anyway, whether or not the poll is closed or not today, it looks like we have a clear winner:

Mantra's
Nothing but the End

Congratulations, Mantra, we'll set up the force-giving soon, and we can finally say that this contest is finished! biggrin
