WOOOT! Star Wars Episode III DVD is coming in 2 days! 6 hours of bonus materials.....watching it unlimited times.....and low prices. Circuit City is selling it for $14.99, so others will try to beat that. Also, Battlefront 2 is coming out on the same day! I can't go to the midnight opening event things, though. Anyone else excited or going to the midnight premieres?

What do you mean? It hasn't come out yet.... Are you basing that assumption off the demo?

Jesus.

Anyway, I'm getting neither. Episode III is more of something I'll get when I get around to it. Maybe I'll wish for it for Julaften. Oh, and Battlefront II looks like a harry nut sack.

Heh, I remember Julaften. Some form of Christmas, you had a contest last year, first to guess got a +1 and you told me on AIM and I won. smile

I will get the DVD. Loved the movie, and I expect loads of sweet bonus features. BFII I'll pass on. Console versions suck, won't be out on Mac for a while, and I might not even get it then. I am now dedicating my money for better things.

I'll be getting neither, there are a million better movies out there that I would like to buy instead if I had the money. Same goes with Battlefront 2 and games.

Actually the Battlefront 2 demo was one of the dullest games I've ever played.

Try out Julafton instead, it feels so soft in your mouth, it's Swedish.

I'll get around to buy Episode 3, I'm not in a hurry. smile

Hell I'm getting both! I need to also buy Star Wars Rouge Squardren and BFII and my collection of EVERY STAR WARS GAME shall be updated! biggrin

BFII is awesome. You people have no room to talk because you never played 5 levels of the game at the Star Wars Celebration III convention!

And as for Episode III I'm going to be waiting in line for that most defenitely! biggrin

My SW ep3 DVD arrived in the post this morning, looking forward to checking out all the extras. Also can't wait to finally be able to watch the story in sequence properly in the comfort of my own home.

Battlefront 2, however, can go take a hike. I'd much rather invest in a high quality, cutting edge online shooter like Battlefield 2. Other than the first Knights of the Old Republic game, I don't really go in for the Star Wars games.

Likewise. SW III arrived in my shopping bag during a trip to WH SMITHS today. Looking far more forward to it than the previous two, which i still don't think were that great.

Having experienced the underwhelming mediocrity of Battlefront II, next to its PC peers, i can safely say i have no intention of buying it, downloading it, looking at a picture of it for any period of time, or mentioning its name in conversation every again...save for conversations about terrible games.

I'm getting SW III today, but I'm more excited about Quantum Leap series 2 box set myself, with all the original music from series 2 - the US version has replacement music in some parts because of licensing issues.

Which is the reason I didn't buy Season 2.... I can't believe you guys get it with the original music! The fact that they took out "Georgia On My Mind" from a certain pivotal episode really irked me. Feel privileged!

As for Ep III, I will be getting it at midnight tonight when they go on sale. Talk about getting a geek-stiffy.... smile

I'm afraid to say I'm really rather disappointed by the ep3 DVD.

The Making Of is good, and covers just about anything, but in the process doesn't really go into detail on anything. For people that don't know anything about filmmaking it's fantastic, of course - but for most FXhomers, they'll find that they know pretty much everything already, and instead get frustrated because they want to know more details about specific areas. For example, the 'Compositing' section, which I imagine would be of interest to most FXhomers, is over almost before it begins.

The deleted scenes also appear to have broken sound on my DVD player, which is a bit odd.

They're saving the good stuff for the inevitable ultimate uber amazing to the fifth gift pack, where they'll show the entire production of each in real time.

I usually buy DVDs for the actual film, the bonus stuff I love. But I always think of it as a little something extra, don't and never have expect much. I have never been totally impressed or improved from bonus features except for a few little methods I have seen here and there.

Just watched the movie, the quality is amazing on my big widescreen TV. Truly the best looking DVD I have ever seen... probably because of the direct digital to digital transfer. I watched some of the deleted scenes too, and I liked the whole extended opening sequence, pretty funny stuff. Anyway, watching that made me think how much better the prequels could have been.

Sick as in good, or sick as in crappy? Also, I hopefully get battlefront one for mac for Christmas, and there is like a 5% chance I'll get battlefront II for PSP.

I got it for PSP (I have yet to play it....), hoping to get it for Mac and PS2....if it is any good. I am such a geek....

Anyway, the Making Of on the DVD really let me down. As Tarn said, it didn't really go into that much detail. All of the interesting aspects of it (at least, to me) were glanced over, and it seemed superficial in a way....meh. Again, I have yet to watch the rest of the features.

I will win the feats of strength! Does anyone have an alluminum poll?

I haven't played much yet. However, the gameplay is basically the exact same as BFI, it justs looks better. Do not buy this game if you are hoping for a revolutionary star wars title, that was BFI. But for a true fan you will enjoy mass slaughterings with Jedi and new, larger levels.

Film Freak,

In my opinion, the PSP version is really good. You control with the analog stick and the Triangle, 'X', Circle, and Square buttons substitute for the right analog stick. I still haven't really gotten used to it yet. Also, there is no online play, but Ad Hoc mode, so you can only play against (or with) people around you. The only cooperative modes are Extermination (killing indiginous species...i.e. Ewoks on Endore, Gugans on Naboo, etc...) and this mode where you retreive items. The rest are you against the other person(s). (Up to four players) Again, there is a lack of a *real* single player mode.

That's the all bad stuff though. Everything else is amazing. You get all (I'm pretty sure) of the vehicles, Jedi, planets, characters, and some exclusive extras only for the PSP. Being a Jedi is fricken amazing. (Darth Maul, I love you.) The framerate is suitable, it will occasionally bog down, and for the expansive worlds, the graphics are good. The dreds on a wookie or the "dress" of a snowtrooper even bounce or simulate cloth when you move. My only complaint about the Jedi, though, is that they seem a little easy to get for how kick-ass they are.

Overall, amazing game. If you don't have anyone to play against though, try renting it first.
