|OK This is another one of my short films that is really just to test out some effects. In this film i use old AlamDV2 plugins converted into stockfootage which i then import and composite in effects lab DV. |
It is kind of movie based as it is along the lines of terminator, Basically two people who look the same start having this battle. One from the future one from the real world. Obviousely the one from the future is evil and has been sent to kill his twin.
Its all a bit strange but it was fun to make. Filmed in 1 hour and then the effects and stuff composited in about 3 hours and finally about an hour editing. So you have to bare in mind this is only a 5 hour project.

hehe, you got shot in one leg then held the other in the next shot. You did a Knightrider movie!
Not bad, the idea reminds me more of The One than it does terminator. Pretty decent though, i wouldnt have minded you not including the long shot of ur ass tho

Why did you rate this 5/5? I dont think its a good idea to rate your movies before others post on it and vote. It happend recently that someone else rated their movie 5/5 when everyone else rated it about 3.
I think that while this was kinda cool, it by no means is the best on FXhome, which is what the standings will say until the votes are retallied. I liked how the muzzle smoke was, i think its probably the best gun firing ive seen on fxhome. was the smoke real?
i liked the music too. but there were some continuity problems. the bad guy gets shot in one leg and clutches the other. the lasers fire too slowly and are not straight.
also, in the end when the bad guy shoots those energy balls, i really couldn't tell what the good guy was doing, waiving his arms around. the explosion was decent.
AND WHAT HAPPEND IN THE END. how did hte good guy come back to life, and how can he suddenly have the ability to teleport or whatever the bad guy did?
well, i think for a test, it was ok, for the muzzle flashes (or smoke whatever). the rest was decent. i prefer using the particle system than using stock footage for energy things, becuase they often look more real. or at least have the particle over the stock footage.
hope this helped

Yeah you are definatley right about the ending, i lost a couple of the shots that were needed to make the ending understandable and due to light conditions and bad weather i was unable to re-shoot the scene, it just would have looked really bad.
I apolagize for rating my own movie, but i made this film really as a bit of fun on a saturday afternoon. And who wouldnt rate their movie 5/5 - LOL
Any way back to serious matters -
The smoke i used when the gun fires is not real, as in a blank firing gun, but is stock footage. I will tell you where you can get it...Actually this smoke should be quite well known, so when someone guesses it right i will post a link to it
The music i thought fitted the movie well (even if i say so myself) it is Alien V Predator soundtrack -( yes unfortunately i am not that good at music and dont run or take part in a Orchestra lol )
I didnt notice the leg thing but i suppose it makes it all the more funny - and unless you really think about it you wouldnt know.
Finally, the energy balls thing was a last minute thought, and i didnt it in a fil befoer so i knew i could pull it off ok. But i agree with what you said. I would have liked to have used a different one but i couldnt find a realistic one.
Thanks for all the comments by the way - i can only improve
MY ASS ROCKS
one more thing apologies for the slow host but that it out of my hands im afraid, archive.org are slow but your movies are USUALLY kept online forever

This looked like the average Kid goofing around in his backyard test that I have seen 4 billion times
some of the effects were okay but other than that...

1/5, boring, slow, not very action packed, slow lasers, all stock footage, and sloppy editing. The smoke was not ver varied, if you got his free one, then flip it or rescale it each time, because it was obviously identical. The smoke was from http://nccinema.ch
or the free one Sollthar gave away in the plugins section. 5/5, I think not, but LOL like you said, who wouldn't??!111 Well, me, because my opinion would be biased, and the only point is to piss off people if they think it is too high.

lol - I am an average kid goofing around,
I didnt think the editing was too bad, considering i only did one take on each shot so it wasn't profesionally done at all - anyway lke i said it was a kind of test plus i can learn alot from all your critism.
So thanks keep it coming

To the rating of the movie. Sound effect quality was low and not timed with the video clips, effects were very repetitive and sloppy, things were just not interesting at all. It seemed more like you just rushed through this so that you could say "YEAH I got a movie on FXHome". Real projectiles (lasers) would leave the gun going a LOT faster. Oh yeah, and the explosion, you can see the lines where the clip is. You need to tone up the contrast to fix that.
I don't want to sound very harsh about this, but honestly... (below)

People who want a fair judging of what the community thinks of the movie.
If you knew you were going to do something you would have to apologize for, why did you do it?
Come on, man.

Boring concept, eveything was slow. There was way too much just sitting there, it looked WAY too staged. The teleport effect was ok, but, come on, a laser coming out of a an MP-5? As nutty banana said, a VERY long shot of your behind, a little more than necessary. The sound fx were not good, and everything was really sloppy-looking. OK.

hey dude, i just saw your movies and i though it was ok. I really liked your TNT productin intro thing. That was kick ass but the what wasn't kick ass were your sound fx. Also, your visual effects were decent enough. Why did your Deagle shoot smoke? Anyway, good effort.

It was alright...The part where he ducks and the camera is all shaking around, NO! That's a big not to do in filmmaking, shaking the camera(So is following the person by running with the camera and zooming in and trying to shoot a scene while there is alot of movement where you have to track the person.
I thought it was kinda cheesy, but I liked the beginning. I assumed you were trying to do a Spy vs. Spy type of genre and I thought that was pretty cool. I would get chromanator for the next chapter because sooner or later you have to show both of yourselves in one scene.
Also the end was really confusing. So was the part where the guys is traking the other guy with the little vision thing(Which the overly was great!).
Next time try to make it really interesting. The footage itself could of been made alot more well. I think this one lacked good post production.
PS. Next time don't use lasers. Use all guns it makes it look more realistic, especially in your back yard

Oh, I forgot about sound. Yeah... As for takes, I didn't necessarily think they were messy takes, but it wasn't creative editing in anyway, boring, and as I said, at the beginning was sloppy. Nothng to do with messing up on camera, but more of a combo of post and production work. This is very hard to get used to, I am still working on it after 2 solid years of video study.

Well to be honest...I did not really like this mainly because for some resaon the sound did not match the video, and the story was not that good I gave this a two partly because you rated it a five but that was not the only reason but it was deffinatly a big part of it. I am not a big fan of the music but that did not hurt it to much. Over all the preveiw pictures left expec ting more than I got so I was not really happy with it so 2/5 form me.

Well, the editing wasn't that great, but I did like the sound design so that's why I gave your test a 3.

This was Clearly just a learning test for a kid wanting to make movies. No problem with that, It's exactly how i learned, So keep it up. However, I don't really think uploading every test is really neccessary. If i were you, I'd just wait until I came up with a great Short film and post it up here. I'm pretty sure most people aren't into seeing little kids test films. (Just being honest)

3-4 weeks, meh, i couldnt be bothered, the filming was crap, and ive moved away from filmaking now, I've got into 3D design and things, so maybe you will see a more advanced short with CG elements and Match moving in the future.
Sorry, but i haven't got the time these days to be making movies all the time, sorry to disapoint.
as allways regards,
