[MOD EDIT] Please do not abuse the forum rating system. Positive ratings are for people who submit good posts. If you want to reward people for other things please use a force transfer instead [/MOD EDIT]

FALL FILM CHALLENGE!

Hello everyone. For those of you with an old script in your closet, get that

thing out! This film contest is for anyone! There is no winner, and

everyone get's a prize! Movies of all genres are excepted. All movies

must be at least 1 minute long, and no longer than 15 minutes. You must

state that you are "in" to enter.

from Lithium Kraft. There will be a poll, but there are no winners.

Everyone gets an equal amount of force. All entries would be prefered to

be on fxhome by midnight Monday on FXHOME TIME. If your clock is not

already set to fxhome time, please do so. If your entry is going to be

late, it will still count, just notify myself or Lithium Kraft ahead of time.

Do not use this thread for submitting your movies. There will an entry

thread and poll later on. Thank you and I hope to see some great movies

from all the fxhomers.

P.S. Please do not submit a movie already on fxhome or in the hauntfest challenge. If you never posted it on fxhome, it can be eligible. Also, tests are allowed, but, as said eariler, must be at least one minute.
Thank you.

Speical thanks to aculag, whose idea of making your own film contests partly gave me the idea to do this. Also, thank you Lithium Kraft for helping me out with the force problem.

There's a chance I'll have something in this contest...still not sure yet. I need to retrieve a DV tape from a friend of mine before I can submit it.

Anyways, I've got my clicker ready, so let's get our movies up and ready!

Yeah, note how I said it dosen't matter when it's posted, as long as you tell us it will be late. Also, the quality of the movie dosen't matter, it can have the stupidest plot ever. This is just to eat up your free time this weekend, and have some fun. If you the time, you could submit your movie Nov. 20, but the voting must be done right afterwards. I hope to see some films from you guys.

Ok, I have no official word from boyocs yet, but we'll be in, unless we further notify you. I think we can have it in by the 14th, perhaps earlier. Can you hold off voting? wink

Sure. One of the main things I thought people would like about this is, everyone can get in their movies, so nobody feels left out.

I think film competitions and stuff like this are fun, BUT.....

We should create a seperate topic section for this, and each contest should have one (1) thread with a link to the "Official Website". That website would have the movie links and info and COMPLETE RULES. The only replies on the forums would be questions about the contest (so as to reduce clutter on the thread). Then, when it is time to vote, modify the thread to have a poll.

This would make everything clearer and easier, and it would also be another step to making film competitions official on FXhome. (If anyone needs help hosting a site, Geocities will work fine.)

I'm IN and i think i can get it in by monday! i had just thought about a short 3-5 min film idea last night and i was wondering how to get it on fxhome since it wont have any effects done with alamdv or effects lab. Thx for the contest. And yes this could be more organized but spontaneous things are more fun, doncha say? o and i dont think you should give people FOREVER to get their films in. set a cutoff date for the films for like say Next Monday. That way you dont have people turning films in until january. And maybe have a big prize for one winner. Everyone that enters can still get that small prize but have everyone that enters submit like 20-50 force or something to the winner. that way you have a little more healty competition. and not to mention bragging rights! wink See ya monday!

Just remember, it doesn't HAVE to be monday! Don't feel like you have to be rushed, you have plenty of time (as seen on page 1, some people have like 2 week extensions and whatnot).

Looks like it will be a good competition! Can't wait to see the submissions!!!!!

Considering there is no real prize, spending time to make a movie for this would not be worth it considering the official FXHome Christmas competition is supposed to be announced soon.

rules rules rules biggrin

Film competitions have had a HARD time taking off on FXhome and making regulations like that risks putting a strangle hold on something that is barely strong enough to exist as it is.

Yup. I live in a very rule-oriented house, so I kinda get like that. You know how it is... wink

I think that for the "good"/"official"/"widely accepted", like the Hauntfest Film Challenge, or when FXhome Film Contests happen, it would be no problem to set up a website and stuff. I just think that it would make everything A LOT easier, cleaner, and less difficult to navigate and find information.

Christmas. Sweet! I've got a new movie I'm working on called "7 days of Christmas" based on living in the life of people of different races each day.

Oh, and it's a comedy, so it might come off a TAD racist.

And..........uh, I'm IN.

Duh. Are you not aware of the FXHome world in which they worship Apple products and Chavs are the underbelly of society? A world in which Democrats and Republicans can coexist, as with technology and nature, good and evil, and George Lucas and movie critics. 'Tis a great place where much expectation is held in anticipation for the newest, hottest product. EffectsLab was the messiah, what shall be the seconde coming? DIGIGRADE? Ah, yes, Digigrade.

OK everyone, THERE IS NOW A FIRST PRIZE!

CURRENT 1ST PRIZE: 45 FORCE + 10 FROM ENTRY

I'm donating 25 of my own force (that's the max for my force transfer) to the winner of this contest! There is now a first prize! If you have a question about the prize or if you win, PM me asking me or telling me how you want it to be divided if more than one person made the movie. Film Freak is also some of his own force, he will be giving 20 force, leaving the current jackpot at 45 Force + 10 from entry.

Let's see some films!

EDIT: Take note I will repost the jackpot in the official submissions thread and edit it if it increases.

Oh.

Also, a note to all who entered: If you could please rate up the first post in this thread, I will also be giving force to the winner. The main reason I'm asking this is because I can only transfer 6 force per day as of now. If you do not, that is fine, but I will not be able to give a suitable amount.wink Thank you.

So I must submit a film of any genre to fxhome as if it was a regular video, or do I submit it elseware? and do this before november 7.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

1) There will be a thread opening soon where you ONLY post movies, not discuss anything. This is the discussion thread. So in a way, yes, it's being submitted to FXHome but NOT the FXHome cinema. Also refrain from submitting anything we've seen at Hauntfest or that's in the cinema.

2) It does not have to be due Nov. 7th. You can get an extension if you need one.

I have come to a decision. I will donate a FURTHER 20 force to the winner of the contest, leaving the overall prize for the winner at 55 force, and 10 force for everbody else. I will keep you all posted on any updates involving the contest.

Nope. It can be a fan film or your own idea. As long as it's not already on fxhome, you can put it in the contest.

Hello all. I am posting here for 2 reasons. The first, to tell you all that my movie is almost finished. And second, to tell you that I will be gone from Nov. 22, to Nov. 29 on vacation. I don't think our house will have internet. So basically, if you have not all posted your movie's by say, the 18th or 19th, the voting cannot start until the 30th. Thank you.

Sorry. If you would like to delete the +2 I got from this thread, then that's ok. I may have to take 3 three days to transfer 20 force, but since I don't didn't really EARN it, I agree that I should not have it. But before you do this, if that's what you decide, please ask the people who gave me those ratings if they did it because I asked them to, or simply cause they thought it worthy of a positive rating. I think they are talking about you +1-ing everybody else for their entries instead of force transfer.

Oh. Well, Lithium Kraft is the one giving the postive ratings. I can't since I'm not a gold user. Plus, if I give to force to everybody who enters, I'll have about 13 force left. I'm sorry that I can't, but I just don't have enough force. If I did, I probably would, but since I don't right now, I guess that is just what has to happen. I will never do another one of these again until I can afford to give the force by transfer. If someone could suggest an alternative, most likely I will choose that. Sorry guys. confused

PS sk8npirate, if you haven't entered but want to, you have until midnight on Friday on fxhome time. This Friday, so theres no confusion.
