Sorry to all our users who have had problems with the recent timestamp errors in EffectsLab DV and Chromanator. Both applications are now updated and ready to download.

Those still experiencing problems can you please make sure to do the following:
1. Through control panels uninstall the current/old install of FXLab.
2. In C:\My Documents\FXhome there is a folder called "EffectsLab". Delete it.
3. Reinstall EffectsLab from the site, make sure the version you download is "b884".
4. Run EffectsLab and let it activate.

If you're still encountering problems please also make sure your voice is heard. The eye of Schwaro is watching. smile

Mine works, but I am curious as to what it does. I looked around and don't see where I missed it. If I did, I apologize.

The timestamp extends the period of use left for the program, normally lasting a 6 month period before it needs updating again. This is to both force program updates (which is essential in regard to making common program use bug free) and also to help protect the program from those who share it through file sharing networks.

Chromanator still runs with the timestamp error. But EffectsLab works great.
So has Chromanator really been updated?

Chromanator and EffectsLab operate on different timestamps, so neither would affect each other.

Should Chromanator be working now? When I open the application after installing, the "timestamp" error appears, then the program closes.
(It is the same error that there was for EffectsLab)

I know this is a silly question but just in case: You did download and install Chromanator 1.0.9, right? smile (Installing the latest EffectsLab does not fix Chromanator's timestamp issue.)

No, by all means feel free to exclude yourself from bug fixes, stabilisation, faster rendering, new features including presets. Oh, and you won't be able to use the program when the timestamp runs out.

The timestamp updates are something you have to do every six months or so. This is because the timestamp essentially protects the software from piracy and ultimately helps guarantee the future of FXhome. Being forced to update also means that customers arent suffering from technical problems in older versions of the software.

By installing this update and future updates, you will be able to use the programs as well as gain access to the new features. EffectsLab is at current a preview release and unless you install the updates you won't end up with a full program.

Except this isn't a major release like that, it's pretty much the same thing(I'[m sure there are bug fixes, but I've really had no problems since day one so I can't appreciate them so much). For me it's just an annoyance and a reminder that presets still aren't here.

I know you weren't being completely untrue Hybrid-halo, sure you'll have to keep updating to eventually get the release with all those features. It'd just be nice if we had real incentive to update the program every 6 monthsother than the fact that you have no choice if you want it to work at all.

I agree that at times it can be a nuisance, though it's a small price to pay to prevent the program from being pirated.

Usually there is more of an incentive to update and in the near future there will be updates based around new features. This timestamp expiry problem caught the team off guard though so you can view these recent updates as a quick fix.

As I mentioned earlier (possibly in another thread). The updates during this preview stage work largely as tests to check that everything new added is working on everyones system, whilst the new features remain inaccessible I can guarantee you that they're drawing very close now.

It's less that 10mb to download and install once every six months too, hardly a great nuisance. wink

hey it's not to bad at all, it sucks ive had to use the key resender and wait, but it's not the be all and end all. Thing is, if this wasn't done piracy would be rife, there would be no incentive as such. The fx home website is the heart while the programs are the brain, it's a great idea and it means you can't keep em seperated, one won't work without the other, and fact is alot of us use the website ALOT anyway so whats the big deal. And for me the real buzz about the programs is the website, without it i'd proberly give up caring about the programs i bought and use a different one, here it feels like the creators really care about us and enjoy our company and feedback.

Yes, you can keep all your ".effectslab" project files. They will work fine in the updated version. If you saved them in your "My Documents\FXhome\EffectsLab" folder then just move them somewhere else before deleting the "EffectsLab" folder.

No, there are no changes to memory usage in this build as far as I'm aware.

Have you tried lowering the memory usage in EffectsLab's Preferences? Also, if you're low on RAM, try not to run as many programs at the same time as running ELab.

By "annoying error", do you mean the message that says EffectsLab has expired and that you need to download and install the latest version?

If so, then yes, you must download and install build 884.

This is indeed an update that fixes the error of which you speak.

As far as you old files go, I did not see a warning this time that states old proj files are unusable. Save you proj files somewhere unistall and install the update per Hybrid-Halo's direction.

Then take a deep breath twisted
