Well, uh, yeah, it's getting fairly close to Christmas (and my Birthday! Whoopee!) and I thought it was about time to announce our Christmas lists, as we all did last year. Mine is both for my Christmas and Birthday, and it's not meant as everything I expect to get, but rather, a choice of things for my many relatives to decide over.

Ahem....
Chris-mirth-day-mas List, 2005

*Canon GL2 3CCD MiniDV Video Camera (Now, I can't ONLY put this on the list and let everyone pitch into it, because, well, it's somewhat selfish to do, and leaves my less-loaded (hehe) relatives with nothing but a sad face to the fact that they couldn't pitch in enough. I know you'll say something Evman, bud, so I thought I'd point that out first.)

Now,
*MiniDV 60 min. Tape
*Sony PSP Console Giga Pack (Giga Pack includes Memory Stick)

*PSP Games (I have no PSP currently, so these are almost pointless to list, but here’s hoping)
-Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories UMD (PSP Game)
-Need for Speed Underground: Rivals UMD (PSP Game)
-Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland UMD (PSP Game)
-SOCOM U.S. Navy Seal: Fireteam Bravo UMD (PSP Game)
*PS2 Games
-Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (PS2 Game)
-Ultimate Spiderman (PS2 Game)
-The Matrix: Path of Neo (PS2 Game)
-Call of Duty 2: Big Red One (PS2 Game)
*DVDs
-King of the Hill: The Complete 5th Season
-Lost: The Complete 1st Season
-Arrested Development: The Complete 1st Season
-Arrested Development: The Complete 2nd Season
-South Park: The Complete 6th Season
-War of the Worlds (Widescreen Edition)
-Office Space: Special Edition (Widescreen Edition)
-The 40-year-old Virgin (Widescreen Edition)

*Logitech Wireless Headphones MP3 version (Black)
*”Wired” Magazine Subscription
*”Entertainment Weekly” Magazine Subscription
*”Time” Magazine Subscription
*Barnes & Noble Gift Card (or really any in-depth filmmaking book)
*iTunes Gift Card
*Polo Shirts
*A nice (digital) watch

My parents, who run a small plantation in Atlanta, have afforded me the luxury of rightful ownership to ten acres of their plot. I have 18 african slaves to tend to the field, and, this Christmas I am hoping that my parents will allow me to build on my property. Yes, the thought alone startles me as well. My father can be a tempered fellow, but I believe he can also be quite generous and heroic.

At any rate, building my own small house on my acreage would be a dream come true.

Good topic to get me started on my list, this is a rough draft, I need to select my priorities on the expensive jank.

Dynamics Plugin for Cinema 4D
Adobe AE
Ping Pong Table/Foosball table
iPod Video
Tape Deck thing to upload stuff to computer from a seperate piece of hardware (Any reccomendations?)
Another External Hard drive (after that whole crash incident)
Tons of DVD-R's for backup
Mini DV tapes
Fifa 06 DS
Castlevania DS
Metroid Pinball
Sims 2 DS
A few other DS games
Speakers for Computer
Maybe a mighty mouse
For kicks: CPO Studios mouse pad, shirt, and mug
Props for a Class film
Sword
CD-R's
Disk rack
SSBM Action replay
Mario Strikers
SW Ep. 3
War of the Worlds
Maybe some kind of massage like chair for legs
Kicking targets for martial arts
SW Ep. 1 Sith Attack droid toy (I have wanted this toy for about 6 years:-))
Jump Superstars DS (Import)
Subscriptions to Mac World, Photoshop magazine, film magazines, and a Cinema 4d zine
A couple of crates of Bawls
New wallet
A few gadgets from thinkgeek.com
Maybe an FXHome T-Shirt
Time Subscription
Sw. Ep. 1 and 2 DVDs to complete my late DVD collection
Decorations for my room (movie posters, some stuff Sharp posted in the forum, and other cool glowy things, my room shalt own)
CD booklet things to keep all of my software installation CDs (I am very wary after my HD failure)
Windows Emulator to run basic Windows Apps
Throwing Knives
Slingshot smoke ammo
Targets
A nice Pen
Maybe a hundred business cars
iPod dock
Some kind of thing to keep chargeable electronics on (DS, Cell Phone, old PDA, iPod)
iPod Speakers/Alarm Clock - Sleek for room
Bookshelves and night stand - sleek for room

Bah, I know I bore you and no one will read, but it is fun to type it all. I read most last year. Also note: I don't expect to get everything, and I will add little things, and maybe something big will spark my interest.

I <3 Christmas. I voted Christmas because I don't really need DigiGrade, FCP's grading system is enough to keep me pleased for the time being.

I voted Christmas because it gives me time off school, I doubt Digigrade will be able to do that.

My Christmas list:
Vegas 6
Chromanator
Armor and costumes that I can use for the movie that I'm going to be making.
Various movies and games
An iPod
A new cell phone would be nice as the one I have right now is broken again.

And that's pretty much all I can think of right now.

Dude, I don't get alot of money, but I think it's really selfish to ask for few, but so EXPENSIVE gifts such as 3ccd cameras or computers. Putting so few things on a list that are so expensive isn't really fair to your relatives/loved-ones. I personally think it's better to put a larger list up with semi-expensive things to give your gifters a number of gifts to choose from to use. And, as I've said before, it's for my BIRTHDAY AND CHRISTMAS, so combine your Christmas and Birthday Gifts and add them up, I'm sure your total would be loads higher than my list.

I want...

An external DVD±RW burner, because I have a 4 year old laptop that can only read dvds and burn cds.

An external hard drive, because I only have 40 gigs, and about 4 gigs are free most of the time.

A firewire PCMIA card to accompany my USB2.0 one, because my laptop only has 1 USB 1.0 port without either of those.

Another MiniDV tape.

Animal Crossing for the DS when it comes out, for no apparent reason.

I think that's about it. If you think that's small, then you won't believe this. For the last couple years, I haven't asked for ANYTHING for my two birthdays and the last two christmas's. Exceptions were when I bought FLStudio 5, EffectsLab, Chromanator, and Premiere Elements, because those were purchased to 'support' my hobby.

In short, I'm going to save up for the next few years, when they come out with 4ghz+ laptops (I wish).

And I don't have anything I want this Christmas. I'm not supposed to be playing video games, I own a shelffull of military history books and I have not finished reading "L'armee Francais", so books are out. I am saving up for a camcorder so they can't get me that. For my birthday two months ago I got cds and I'm satisfied with my computer. Any advice besides telling my parents to put this years Christmas money in a savings account? confused

Panasonic HVX-200 HD Camcorder
LaCie Biggest Disk - 1.5TB of SATA storage
Arriflex Light Kit
Kino-flo's
Canon 20D Digital Camera
A render farm (8 Dual Core Dual Opteron servers running Linux should do it)
Mac 23inch HD monitor
Broadcast Monitor
Color Calibration for Monitors
The new Quad G5 Powermac for good measure...

That should get me started.

Serpent, Throwing Knives???? Anyway, atom, don't ask for need for speed underground rivals, it stinks.

Here's mine:
Magic trick set $50
Soul caliber III PS2 $50
Super mario sunshine GCN $20
Shadow the hedgehog GCN $50
Mario and luigi DS $35
Star wars battlefront one for mac $50
Battlefront 2 PSP $43
Calvin and hobbes complete box set $80
Game controller for mac $50? (anyone know the average price?)
And I think thats about it.
It all adds up to about $500 USD.

P.S. Serpent, some of the things on your list I have never even heard of. razz

Mine is:

Misc:
iHome iH5 for my ipod
Various cds
iTunes gift card
Remote control watch for tvs

Video games/movies
Tony Hawk's American Wasteland
Burnout Revenge
Madden 06
The Movies (Is it just me, or does this look like a great game?)
The Sims 2
Super Mario Strikers
SW EP3 DVD
Batman Begins DVD
MAYBE the first season of 24 on DVD

Adding to my brother's comment, NFSU is defineitly one of the worst handheld games I've ever played. I got Burnout Legends today for PSP and it is much better. Got it for $33 too, good deal.

Just to clarify, we were talking about Need for Speed Underground Rivals, not Most Wanted, which does look like an awesome game. As for the Movies, have you actually played the game? That's dissapointing, as it seemed like a cool game for people like us. wink

Sure. It's for my birthday and Christmas. And, btw, don't you think it's abit conceited to only put ridiculously expensive items on your Christmas list and that be it? Is it really just me? How will that make the relatives who can't afford to get you that stuff feel when someone else already has?

I get what you're saying. But if that is all someone wanted, then thats that. Your parents don't have to get you what is on your list. I agree and disagree with, they both have downsides and advantages.

Also atom, sorry to tell ya, but american wasteland isn't coming out for PSP. But my brother owns THUG 2 remix for PSP, and thats pretty good. So I would reccomend not asking for american wasteland for PSP, since it dosen't exsist. razz I think battlefront II looks great for PSP, so I might ask for that for my birthday.

P.S. atom, you said your Christmas list is also your birthday list, are Christmas and your birthday close together? Just curious, cause mine is Jan. 12.

Mobile phone is completely free.

iPod video is free as I sold my old MP3 players making a profit of £400.

Video Camera is the only thing I'm officially getting.

Wow. I'm so far behind. I payed 120$ for a 128mb flash mp3 player last year. I'm still using it because I have dropped it and smashed it in almost every single way, I have even dropped it in a puddle of water in the parking lot while it was still playing and NOTHING happened. It was awesome. I have a tendency to get attached to inanimate objects.

"The new ipod is so cool...but I can't just bring myself to part with my mp3 player! What would it do if I got a new one!? I can't take it!"

Therefore I am not asking for an ipod for christmas.

Because... it's generous to give them more options to give YOU things... Thats just funny.

I have my birthday 10 days before xmas, and my list isn't nearly that long, or expensive, fyi.

Kind of stupid to want one now, as they get much better next year?

On topic: I don't make lists no more, but if they ask me what I want, I will ask for something cheap this year.

Film freak
Yeah, both me and my brother Ben have our birthday 3 days after Christmas. It really pretty much has no upside, as mot people are still celebrating Christmas on it.

Oh, amd yeah, American Wasteland. I meant to put THUG 2:Remix, must've been watching a commercial for Wasteland or something.

Anyone else see the fx lightsabers from master replicas? They have them out at my best buy for some reason and I think they're really cool. It's a replica hilt, with a tube coming out. When you turn it on, it has authentic sound fx and it lights up blue or red, depending on which model you get. $120, a little pricey, but it's pretty sweet. Here's a site where you can view a picture of it: http:///www.masterreplicas.com
They have some INCREDIBLE items, including an excact studio replica of darth vader's helmet. Thought that was cool, I want to get it for Christmas. They even have a mace windu purple version. To see the lightsabers, just go up the search bar and type in stars wars.

I had no idea Best Buy has MR Sabers, that is pretty cool. I think the coolest think from MR is the AT-AT model. I would kill for that. Note to whoever commented on the lists being to long: That was my list of things I want, definately not things I will get.

I will also add the Serenity DVD.

Obviously somebody hasn't ever been to Sharper Image. This is what I think the place to go for replica lightsabers is. This guy is awesome if you're looking into a saber for Christmas. I don't personally have one, but have thought about it for years and tracked other shoppers remarks.

Haha, I finally read through this topic:

I meant to say cards, but I scratched that off anyways.

Also, I love how everyone, after only Atom and I posted our lists said: "Those lists are huge, you guys are rich, do you expect to get everything, how can you afford all that? Yet, you failed to read anything I sai below that. I don't expect to get half of the list, I don't expect to get any of the expensive things, in fact I wont get any of the expensive things.

Hypnotize is awesome.

It's one of those albums that grows on you. And can everyone please punch the cretins who say that it's a 'B-Side Job' because SOAD made it quite clear that they balanced both albums with good songs.
