I just got done reading the transcript for the webchat, but I have a question about FXvault. Is it going to cost money? In the transcript it said:

"schwar: we want to price it right, and make it simple"

So does that mean the effects will cost money?

The presets for the program are NOT FXvault.com

The presets for all the programs are like the AlamDV2 plugin section (but far better). They are free to download (provided you own the software).

FXvault.com is stock footage, music, photos and sound which will all have a small cost to buy

What is a small cost? You mean small for stock footage, or small small? Like for 10 dollars for 10 clips or $50?

Who decides the price?

The submitter or the FXHome team?

Does the submitter get a portion of the money made from selling the submission and does FXHome get some for hosting it (I assume that's how it would work).

We're still at the design stage where we're figuring out what we want it to do and how we want it to work. We have lots of ideas but nothing is definite at the moment, so we can't really answer these questions yet.

We're always open to suggestions though. Now is a good time to share the ideas you'd like to see incorporated.

Err, all? The AlamDV plugins will be converted and hosted there right? And that will be free for EffectsLab users? Or has anything changed?

*a little confused*

I would LOVE to have an in app "stock store" like the iTunes music store. You can hit "Buy now" and it downloads to your HD. Maybe have a section available for VLab (all media except sound), EL (just "plugin style" stock like explosions and even alpha streamed", and CL (just for backdrops and stuff like that.) We could maybe preview it (like in iTunes) at small res and there would be a water mark on it. Then there would be HD and Standard Def clips (up to user to provide and even price both.) Then allow for "album art" to display as the images, make it very similar to iTMS using our usernames and stuff, but cinema style with descriptions. We could set an album price slightly lower than combination of all clips for people who want all of 'em. This might be complicated, maybe only available in a seperate app onto Hard Disk, then access the folder from the apps (you should really do this Apple's Motion style where you can see a big thumbnail of each media type in a folder on your HD, look into it.) This my sprout some ideas, but I think this would be incredible.

I like the idea of an itunes style vault, but with google-like searching abilities and a rating/review system. Depending on the type/quality of imagery, you may want to have a full-res watermarked preview, so people can see exactly what they're getting (if there are broad discrepencies among image qualities in the vault). I also think a kind of "resident artist" position would be very good, too, by that I mean people who specialize in creating a certain type of media (and do it well) who users can make requests to, but who also just provide a constant stream of new and cool imagery. Sort of like plugins for alamdv, but more official/regulated/established. I for one would be interested in the regular task of creating original musical entries (and taking requests for certain pieces/styles of music/etc.). All this, I assume, would require a certain amount of royalties going to the creator of the media, and then obviously some to fxhome/fxvault as well.

Here's an idea (obviously you would make this in the really cool fxhome style with amazing functionality, but you get the idea):
