I usually make a rough cut in iMovie, then finesse it with Final Cut Pro 5.

Do all the fancy bits in Motion then clean up the sound in Soundtrack Pro.

It's something of an improvement from when I started, using a VHS-C camera hooked up to an old vid deck.

windows movie maker for recording? Why do that if you have premiere? doesn't that seem a bit unnecessary? I use premiere for editing, vegas for grading, Effects Lab for visual effects if needed, photoshop, cakewalk pro (soundtrack recording), and sadly i use windows movie maker to compress video's because i cant figure it out in premiere.

He probably has to capture using analog or something? That's what I used to have to do with my old cam.

Using:

-Sony Vegas 5 (for biggie projects and LOTS of grading)

-Video Explosion Deluxe (a nice dumbed-down clone of Vegas, good for small stuff, keeps Vegas from getting clogged with too many projects all at once)

-MSPaint (Boo-ha!)

-Adobe Photoshop

-Adobe Premiere Pro (I never use it, I just got it before I really knew what I wanted to do with it, and then did nothing)

-Sony Vegas DVD (or DVD something, can't remember the name of it)

-AlamDV2 (Old apps Die Hard, I guess)

-Sometimes, EffectsLabDV

Wishing I had a credit card so I could get CompositeLab Pro. smile
