I will be giving 100 force points to the person who can make the best particle flame-thrower effect for EFFECTSLAB DV. I know its not a huge reward, but i really need a fire for a flamethrower that is as photorealistic as possible.

I know about stock footage. it will not acheive the effect I am looking for.

also, if someone can do this same thing using the muzzleflash engine, and make a really good looking fire, i will give them 100 force points. this is preferable, becuase the muzzle flashes are easier to animate and so on.

thanks a bunch.

NOTE: these only apply to the FIRST person to make them

Hi I saw some really amazing stuff their.

Just one thing, I need it to be a flame thrower, not a ball of fire shooting across the screen. Like the fire should be coming out of somthing, almost like a water hose emmits water (although it appears totally different).

so far katsu seems to have the best. However, he has visionlab, and not effectslab dv. so sorry katsu, but i cant use that preset unless you somehow make it usable for me. and if doing that would make it look alot worse... Still, even if it is not useable to me, it would be great if you uploaded it so all the other visionlab users can use it.

also, if sombody could think of a way to make a really GOOD flamethrower effect in the muzzleflash engine, he would get 150 force points. but dont get your hopes up cause it would have to be really really good.

wow, you guys are amazing. I didn't think anybody would really respond to this, but people really are!

also, even if you dont win the prize, for the good of the whole fxhome community, upload your presets. thanks a bunch.

regards,

SGB

PS I will push my director to put the maker of the best fire in the credits of my new movie too.

It'll still work, presets are only program specific when they use grading filters unavailable in the other programs in which case it'll only load what can be used. In this case, you'll be able to import all the particle effects as the preset as every program has the particle engine.

And in case of my flamethrower preset, the only thing you'll be missing is the compositie glow filter.
Anyways, I submitted the preset so I'd say give it a try if it appears on the preset library.

(Edit: You can fake the glow a bit, by duplicating the flame, blur it a bit and make it transparent)

well, i haven't had any experience making fire, but heres my try.

http://www.wfhproductions.com/fire_test1.wmv

and heres a pic

I think it would end up looking alot better if you used the particle system.

I still wanna mess with it more, so i probably won't upload it as a preset yet. biggrin

I dont know much about the muzzle system, but if you imported actual flames as a texture, and then set it to somehow randomize how thick the muzzle is, it might look good.

although, i have absolutly no idea how this would be done mad

still, great job guys, i could never do that kinda stuff. once i start recieving presets ( or once they are accepted into the preset library) Ill choose the best one and send that person the force points.

SGB

Nice try, but fire has many more colors than just white and orange. Good try, but im beggining to think its impossible in the muzzle system.
