I will soon make soot a small battle outdoors and will most likly need a few bullet hits. Anyone who has tried this in the particle generator?

I'm thinking about some smoke-looking hits, not really
sparks.

Preset(s) would be great! biggrin

Check out Sollthar's great bullet hits at http://www.nccinema.ch
You have to buy them to use them. I did that and they are great! Good luck.

I just submitted a short smokey puffy preset which should work for what you want.

Yeah, those are good. If I'm going to buy stock footage it will be that! biggrin But I think I prefere presets, so I can change some settings and stuff. EffectsLab DV (well, I think I'll upgrade to VisionLab) seems great for smoke effects!

Hello erfa, just to let you know, I wrote a quick post covering how this kind of effect can be done quite a while ago. Although I did not work on the effect long, and was only meant as a quick example to help some one, the post could still be beneficial to you.

So if you are still looking for a way to do this yourself, or just want a little bit more insight into how this is done, the topic is in my list of posts, and I could fish it out for you if you prefer, although I am sure you will have no need for it, as Brettstas is most likely going to look good.

I have not had much time, but hopefully when I get some time to tinker with some new effects, I will get into making a few presets myself. Until then, a few effects I have created in the past have already ended up in the presets library, so I am sure you will be able to find some helpful effects there in the near future.

Good luck with the battle.
Wizard.

The link to the post is here. The videos may take a while to load, and as I previously said, they were only made as quick examples, so the effect will most likely look much better if you were to put the time that I did not have, into it.

I am not aware of how much the particle engine has changed in the most recent release, so I can not tell you if all of the settings apply just as they did the day I wrote it, but it was only written as a starting ground, and will hopefully still serve as that to you. If you have any question, or want any advice, feel free to private message me at any time.

Good luck with the effect.

Thanks a lot Wizard, I'm sure I'll find what I'm after if I manipulate those settings a bit. smile
