What about Shotgun "muzzle flashes" and other "black powder" guns?

I submitted a black powder flash a few days, ago. It's alright, would probably look better with a particle engine combined.

They are difficult to do with the muzzle flash engine because of the large amaounts of smoke black powder creates. I did have a go at creating a shotgun blast just with a muzzle flash, and it came out ok, but its pretty much guaranteed to look fake. I did submit it, so perhaps you will see it one of these days. Eventually I intend to have a go at some muzzle smoke using Penguin which should work much better for these types of guns.

Also, I created a plug-in or two of black powder flashes using actual footage I shot, so when FXVault is up and running you could use that stock footage.

I recently submitted a Muzzle Sparks preset and a Muzzle Smoke preset, both of which are particle effects. Provided they make it through the submission process and are up to par, you should see them posted soon. Combine them with a standard muzzle flash and you should get a pretty decent shotgun blast.

I do think that the best results are always gonna come from the real thing, so here are the links to the Black Powder plug-ins, which you can use as stock footage.

Here is the link.

There are 4 different image streams there, from 4 different shots, for some variation. You can at least check 'em out while you are waiting for the presets to be processed.
