Randomly when I visit the FX site, it closes on me, litteraly out of no where. Happens about 1 out of every 20 FX Home pages I visit. Anyone else have this?

(Using I.E.)

Does it happen on any other pages you visit? It might just be your browser going haywire.

Thats the first thing I thought of, a spyware problem. But I ran about 5 FULL sweaps using every program from Norton Antivirus, Spyware Doctor, and Microsoft Antispy. Nothing came up.

And no, it "only" happens with the FX Site. Now, I know I dont come on the site ALOT, but still, others may be haveing this problem, so why not answer it if we can.

Do you get any error messages?

Go to administrator tools> event logs and see if there's anything interesting there.

Whoops, didn't realize he didn't use those. razz

Yeah, listen to er-no. Use Ad-aware and Spybot.

MS Antispyware wont catch everything as it is very much in beta.

LOL

But, umm, IE is terrible at the moment compared to FireFox. People who don't know anything about computers noticed a difference, and obviouosly more people are moving to FireFox, it's for a reason. ust try it out, you can skin it to look like IE if you want, you can even transfer your IE preferences, but it is safer, RSS (don't know if IE supports this), tabbed browsing, extensions, themes, better support, more stable, faster, and awesome. Download it, install it, and try it, if you don't like it, then I will let you stick with IE. wink

Digi, this doesn't compare to when Timmy used to say "go Mac" (or other people), because FireFox is free and clearly better, and MORE people use it. It is a rational answer.

You don't use Firefox because of a German MC Hammer look-alike? That's pretty abstract....

You owe it to your computer to use Firefox, even if you don't want to.

Lets see...

I ran the text through FreeTranslation.com...

On the paper: "external [link] en does not permit"

In red text below: "cost-free PHP hosting with MySQL"

So you don't like Firefox because 'funpic.de' doesn't support external linking?

He's stealing bandwidth again! (Alex, just download the image and host it on Imageshack.)

It's important to us that FXhome works in all major browsers. If the random closing in IE is a problem with the site then we will try to fix it.

Are there any pages in particular that are causing the problem, or is it completely random? How many windows do you have open at once? What version of IE are you using?

If anybody else is having the same problem it'd be very useful to hear from you.

Malone, I don't think it's any particular problem with FXhome.

In another forum I frequent, a user is having the same issue with his browsers (both IE and FF) closing upon visiting some sites.

I told him to visit fxhome.com to see if the same problem occurred. It did for him.

Here's the thread.

Here's a quick list of sites he was having trouble with:

www.cnn.com
www.mugglenet.com (why in blazes would anyone visit this site..?)
www.6arab.com

Alex...see if those sites shut your browser down.

I have used IE as my main browser for a long time (I tried but ditched firefox, please don't ask why)...never got this before.

Firefox is not installed on thsi computer although it is on two other computers that use both browsers. They do not get this random closing problem.

GOD! Ok, this image will work!

I dont support fire fox because...

Ok, you got me, I steal Bandwidth. Whats the punishment, 50 years federal prison?

Well, the problem seems to be only on my PC, and by that I mean not any of my other computers. After tweaking with it a bit, i found out that everytime I clear my history/cookies, it happens about 4-6 times I visit the site. The system always works after I crash on a page, example...

I load the Home page, it crashes.
I load the Home Page, it doesn't crash. I load the forums, they crash.
I load the Home Page, it doesn't crash. I load the forums, they dont crash. I load the Cinema Page, it crashes.

And so on, and so on. Heads up, the pages I picked out are just random selections. Its all pages with a fxhome extension.

And Ok, ill TRY imageshack, just like Firefox. As soon as I get can get back on my PC and off my Laptop, ill try both of them. Ill also try those pages, should be getting on it tonight.

Your problem is odd. You say IE "crashes". Does it ask to send an error report? If so, did you send the error report?

Okay..

Firstly, you have the Google Toolbar, MSN Toolbar, Yahoo! Toolbar, and the AIM Toolbar installed.
You're subjecting your browser to toolbar madness! burst

Secondly, it looks like you have a virus in your system.

Put a check next to:
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [strtas] l071.exe

Then click "fix checked".

That should solve the problem.

I can tell you right now, having 4 toolbars installed is bad. Think of it sort of like have two firewalls installed. Both firewalls will want to protect the system, leading to software conflict, and then to Windows crashes.
