The software isn't released on CD yet. I believe they are aiming for some time next month for the CD version to come out, once they get all the bugs worked out of the current version.

Sorry,

Me and Malone are currently setting up real distribution but we have done some other forms of distribution before - tell me what you have in mind smile

That would be a great idea. If you had other filmmakers around the world advertising and selling your product on their sites you would not only get more sells, but you would be enormously popular. There are still too many people whom do not know of this great program. I think it would be a great idea if you you let people interested in becoming an AlamDV distributor for free or for a small fee sign up, and either buy quanities of the product (when released on cd) to sell on their sites (and advertise your site, of course), or make it where you can track all the sells a certain distributors web site brings you. I prefer the buying at wholesale in quanities, because then you know when you have a sell and don't have to worry about your orders actually being tracked. You should set a minimum wholesale purchase of like 5 copies, set and wholesale price, and also sell in quanities of 5, 10, 25, 50, 75, & 100+, (or something similar) lowering the wholesale price for each copy when distibutors order higher quanities of your product. What do you think? Is this a possibility? It could only bring more business and people to your site.

Schwar, I tought of a scriptlink that would say that SANSO Productions is the referer and than get a comission on the sale. It would be good business for you and for my company. I wouldn't believe how many people buy theyr computer equiped with Firewire card to do video capture. That would be theyr first video authoring program since it is very easy to use.

It could also be downloadable from my website and they get a key from you...

Think about it wink

Is the CD version going to be more expensive than the download?

Ok: The distributors are the ones making the CD's, not CSB directly (I don't think). Therefore, unless you cut some kinda deal with the distribution company, there is no way you can sell a CD version.

It might be possible to setup a reseller website where they download the demo from your site and get an automatic email with the key. I don't think CSB would mind the downloading demo part, since it would save them some bandwith the downloads. However, you might as well just give a direct link to CSB's product/buy site.

Yes, I could do that, for example with a personal website talking about film making or specialfx, but all the software I advertise, i make a profit on it. I very much like the alam DV product and community but not a the point of advertising, serving bandwith without making money...

Thank for the idea anyway.

Hey av11d - thanks for the help.

Everything to do with official csb-digital business has to be answered by Malone of myself really. We will have control of many things and we would be able to set up dealer networks.

I think it would be best to wait for the CD release then, if you give me your company details, I'll try and sort something out.

Sidewinder: What I tought is to be able to sell the software as a value added reseller like I am with Microsoft. I buy the software at a reseller price and resell it with a profit...I'm in North America and I think it would be easier for the customers to buy AlamDV in CDN$ or in US$ instead of your currency. And since we're in the e business I think that there is no need to have a CD, people can just download the program and burn it...

Schwar: If you want to contact me you can do so with all the informations bellow. I'm not making any pressure on that thing, you have got to be willing (and ready) to export your product...With what I have read, you don't seem to have total control over the program (csb does?...) I tought in first that in was controled by a bunch of starwars fanatic programmers..

Yea, there used to be a company site, too, it was a site about nothing: except with pictures of schwar, malone, and xccession and how they were the entire CSB-Digital. I guess its just being redirected to AlamDV now. I'm sure if they ever release any other programs they will just make a parent site for the company...
