Win over $500 of software!

2006 has arrived, which means that the FXhome Fanfilm Competition Deadline is fast approaching!

We hope you're all busy putting your entries together - don't forget, the top prize is a full copy of FXhome's VisionLab HD, worth over $500!

How to enter the competition

As the name suggests, we want fanfilms! We don't want any ordinary fanfilm, though - we want to know what you're a fan of and why.

The subject is entirely your choice - the more interesting the better! We want to see enthusiasm! Passion! Excitement! What makes your chosen subject special?

Upload your submissions (maximum 5 minutes long) then email a web link to team@fxhome.com.

Click here for full competition details and rules!

The clock is ticking!
DEADLINE: February 28th 2006

If anybody knows of any other film making communities that would be interested in this competition then please mention it to them. Remember it's open to everybody, you don't need to use a FXhome product.

Also feel free to use the competition banner as your signature on other forums. If you cut and paste the following BBCode it should work on most forums.

Good luck to everyone! not really, I want to win razz

My entry I was going to submit to this competition along with another for $10,000 was coming along nicely, that is until my Gl1 burned out yesterday with quite a few scenes left to do. It only plays back blue which makes me think my head drum is just completely burnt. That is going to be about $300 to fix I would think, but even worse, at least 3 weeks of service time and probably much more. Not going to make the dead line of either competition unless I find another GL1 or other widescreen capable camera with mic imports.

Oh well, I tried. mad

I was gonna do Monk (the single best TV series...besides Prison Break), but no one would get the humor...too bad.

I've started, I will be ready to shoot this weekend. Then a few days before deadline I'll shoot the remaining scenes. Good luck everyone! Also to Hajiku_Flip, that really sucks. I had to pay around $500 to get mine fixed this summer.

Hey, you still have a month. There's not much you can lose by entering, you know! Plus it's a max of 5 minutes (which is short). Give it a shot!

Just started my entry today,
and got at least 2.30 minutes of footage.
The final film should clock in at around 4 minutes.
Im filming it at school using a GL2 and a XL1. So far the footage looks great, and everyone involved is very aggreable. Ive gotten some great feedback so far, and it looks like ill be filming all next week durring lunch and after school.

dont give up irishcult, throw an idea out there!

Regards,
Adam

I have already started filming mine. By far the hardest part is getting original music. unsure

Well, I upgraded to VisionLab, so it seems a little pointless to compete. And I don't have time to subtitle any of my swedish movies. I'm looking forward to see the winner though. smile

If anybody wins software they already own we'll actually refund you the money you paid for it.

Well, I've just finished filming a short-movie just for the fun of it and it could be considered a fan film, and I could most-definately finish it in time. The only problem is that its going to be way to long. The total length of the currently unedited footage is about forty-five minutes, and the part that has been edited, even with, unregrettbly, a one-minute sequence cut out, it tallys up to three minutes and forty-two seconds, for the most part rendering the five minute deadline an impossibility.

I was also planning another Fan Film but that one needs CL Pro and possibly an upgrade to ELab Pro, and it'll be feature length.

So I won't be competing, but good luck to those who do enter.

I guess you can use any method of making the 'fanfilm'? Like all 3D animated, a cartoon, stop-motion etc. I'm thinking of doing a short lego brick movie...

Man, I read that so many people won't make the deadline sad

I'm glad to inform you all that I will make the deadline.
Will my movie be good? Will the other fanfilms be good?

Is this the last thing I'll ever need to make in Chromanator?

^Oh yeah, this movie looks sexy^

Those questions and more will be answered very soon!
