This is a minor issue, but it is really anoying because i dont get information that other people have sent

you know when you get a PM there is a link on every page that tells you if you have any new messages, but mine does not update so it says no new messages when actually i have 3.

Dont know if any one else is getting the same problem but it is really bugging me tard

I seem to be having a simlar issue - I've recieved two email notifications of PMs, but the thing doesn't say that I have any new messages, and I can't find them in my inbox anywhere.

So, if anyone has PM'ed me in the past couple of days, can you send it again and I'll get back to you asap.

Cheers,
Arktic.

I think I had this exact problem a while back. Interesting...Maybe it takes a while to update the inbox? I don't know.

It's possible that somebody PM'd you then changed their mind and deleted it before you read it. If that happened you'd still get the email notification but wouldnt see any messages in your inbox.

The problem with it saying "no new messages" when you do actually have some is actually a different problem I think. It's to do with the way phpBB does things. I'm pretty sure it works the same way as it does with actual forum posts. It checks the last time you were browsing the forum and marks all newer posts than that. It doesn't mean "unread" posts, it really means "recent" posts. Thats why it eventually says "no new messages" whether you've read them or not.
