I would love nothing more than a gorgeous fireball preset, with plumes of smock coming off. Like the one in Undead or the recent guiness advert.

I remember seeing something when EffectsLab Pro and CompostiLab Pro were launched. It was a picture of a fire ball in a woodland clearing with black smoke pouring off.

If any of you good folk could muster something like that up I would be eternally grateful. Got a sequence edited and ready. Just need a fireball to slap on top.

Cheers guys

Have you checked out the Flame Thrower Redux preset in the library? I'm sure you can tweak it to get the fireball effect you're after.

It was this pic.

But with it flying through the air, the smoke wouldnt flow out as much. I'll try and find a pic or screen grab from Undead, thats the exact thing i'm after. In the mean time here's a link to the trailer

http://www.apple.com/trailers/lions_gate/undead/large.html

As you can see in the trailer, it's more of a glowing white tip and then plumes of black smoke tailing it.

Tried and tried to get it down, but gonna take me a while to master the old particle engine

I just watched the trailer and I made a new version of it with some stock footage flames in it, it makes it look much better. And yes you should be able to make that in EffectsLab DV, all it was is the Orange Burst optic preset for the tip and then smoke particles and the 3 flame particles.

If you want I would be able to post another version of it with real flames in it, it looks much more realistic.

EDIT: Here is the updated version.

wow! is that /\ going to be in th preset library soon, or is that just a stock image? That would be fantastic if you could make that as a preset!

At the time I do not think the entire effect could be made into a preset. This is because hatsoff2halford is using two particle emitters (an emitter for smoke, and an emitter using three flame textures, if I understand him correctly), and an optic preset.

That is a nice looking effect, and it would be great if it were to be made into a preset. Unfortunately, at the moment I do not believe there is a way to make a preset with multiple effects bundled into it (example: a preset with a "Neon light" effect, can not have a particle effect as well).

It is always possible that all three effects can be submitted as presets, and then you put them together, but that wouldn't be very efficient or practical. Maybe some time in the near future, there will be a way to combine multiple effects into one preset bundle.

Looks good though.

Yeah, I see now what you mean about the multiple effects...guess I should have read that better before I posted. I'm still pretty green with this stuff, so that is nice to know about the inability to compile seperate effects into a preset like that. Thanks!

OK, guys! Finaly I've come up with a fireball which I'm happy about...! I just submitted it, so I just hope they accept it. If they do, I'll give a link! wink

Here's a picture:

The preset itself is without the optic, but that's easy to put in...! biggrin
What do you think of it?

Job's a good un!

Just what I wanted.

Is it just a simple case of slapping the optic on top and it moves along with it and everything?

Exciting times.....

Yeah, I created the whole fireball itself with the particle engine. (Including the smoke smile ) You don't need an optic, but using one, you'll get a slight glow around the fireball, which looks a bit more realistic...! wink

Yes, they accepted my fireball preset!!! Thank you very much, FXhome team!! biggrin Appretiate! I thought the reason you didn't accept it the first time was something about me not mentioning the emitter points. But thanx for fixing that, and accepting my preset! And here it is, people! biggrin Do you guys like it?
