We've just released v938 of all the program installers. This is a recommended update for all FXhome users. Please visit the download pages as soon as possible:

CompositeLab
EffectsLab
VisionLab HD

Changes include:

• Brand new Grain filter in VisionLab HD and CompositeLab Pro
• Improved media support
• Several timeline issues resolved
• Particle engine settings tweaked
• Many cosmetic alterations

Language translations

2006 is the year that FXhome moves in bold new directions. Part of that involves making the programs as user-friendly as possible, which includes translating the interface into other languages.

At the moment we want to translate to four specific languages:

French
Italian
German
Spanish

Being a small, UK-based team, we’re not particularly multi-lingual, so we’re asking for the community’s help on this one. If you would like to help us with translating the software language files, please reply to this news post or send an email to team@fxhome.com.

Please only offer to help if you are fluent in one or more of the above languages. Previous translation experience would, of course, be preferable. Thanks in advance to anybody that can lend us a hand!

Tarn,

Nice update, much appreciated. I have a request. Is there a way for you team to add a feature that takes the playhead all the way back to the first frame of my project? As of now, unless I'm missing it somewhere, when I hit Home it takes me to the beginning of the work area. I think it would be helpful to have a key that takes me all the way to the very beginning frame fo the project...my two cents, anyway.

I don't know if this has been asked and i know it sounds stupid but what exactly is Key Frame Animation? I mean is it anything like the pictures that you see on the effectslab pro page? or is it something very obvious?

Keyframes and animation (tweening) are explained in your EffectsLab Pro manual. Below is an excerpt but I suggest you read the appropriate sections in the manual.

Most of the information about your objects is held in keyframes. Whenever you change an attribute a new keyframe is placed on the timeline at the current playhead position on the appropriate track.

Short for ‘in-betweening’, tweening automatically works out how an attribute changes from one keyframe to the next. This means you do not need to place keyframes on every single frame, but only when you want an attribute to change.

Hi Tarn (...and everybody else at FXhome),

since German is my mother language I should offer you my help translating the software language files.

I have worked as a journalist for eight years (...not any longer...but - no - they did not fire me biggrin - I left) so I feel qualified for this job.
The only problem I have (...well, in fact it is a pleasure, not a problem smile ) is that my little daughter is 16 months old and very "possessive" as far as her daddy is concerned. In addition to that ETA of child number two is early May. That does mean I will not be able to spend huge amounts of time. But...

...I have often revisioned stuff (proof-reading) that had been written by other people (degree dissertation e.g.).

So, if it turns out that there is too much stuff to translate (....for me) I could at least have a look at the results of other German translators. It is not that I doubt about their abilities wink but two additional eyes do see more.

Ok, and - by the way - this is/was my first post. smile

Barnu

p.s.: I will send this to team@fxhome.com, too.

Nice update on the interface, the contrast on the sliders is much better!

EDIT: And by the way, Swedish would be cool!
