A reporter stumbles on a meth lab not knowing that its being guarded. Forced to a safe hiding spot the reporter hopes that he and the sniper are not alone.

This was a movie I made for a film study class. It was shot over the course of 3 days and took about one and a half weeks to edit.

Please leave feedback I need to know whats good and what isn't.

Hey steelglass sorry I haven't commented earlier but anyway I downlaoded and watched and I liked it very much. It had some cool shots but some were very vague and confused me a bit like the pots and pans and lysol and whatever that was. I kind of understood what was happening but it was just a bit too vague. Also that pistol gunshot sound shouldve been louder because with that blowback gun a louder effect would've made that badass. Also I thougth the camera thing was cool. Another thing I didnt' like was the varying grading. Im sure it was some part of the story where it kind of got a sepia like tone but I wouldve rather it was just a constant similar look. You put some different ideas into a overused plot which I thought was good because I wasn't bored. Good job and I look forward to seeing more.

Hey sorry if all the chemicals got you confused. The stove and all the chemicals is suppose to be a meth lab. I decided on a meth labe because that is a growing problem here in northern Minnesota.
Do you think you could give me a rating while your at it. It would be much apreciated.

Hope I explained it better here.

Thanks for the comments.

Oh ok I am stupid I think I got sidetracked and forgot about your original description. Now that I realize what it was I udnerstand it and I think it is much better. It doesn't have that boring tripod or insane wobbly handheld look. It has a nice style that kept me interested. Im going to give it a 4/5.

decent shots, the cowboy piece kinda confuses me it seems like hes really close to the reporter "maybe its suppose to be that way" but then nothings ever shown of him afterwards from the horse riding shot. i can understand using the camera to get a shot of the area but was the camera flash really needed, it wont help the picture in outside in the bright snow and if the sniper lost him then it just helps pinpoint his position again. other then that the quality was good despite the old brown clip that unless it was representing something like a flash back or something then the color of the shot could have been the same as the rest of the movie.

i give it a 4/5 pretty close to a 5 though~

Yes those sepia colored clips were flashbacks and happened earlier.

Good: Use of Real Guns, Suitable Outfits, Decent acting, Decent Editing, Servicable cinematography.

The Bad: The Random Horseman That Just happens to be around, The Fight scene, The Sepia flashbacks, The Opening shots were Really shakey and didn't help.

Things that would improve this alot:

Mainly Color Grading. And Maybe Re-shoot some of the Opening shots so they'll be abit smoother. And Re-shoot the fight scene.

Pretty Good considering...

Over all it was pretty good. I like the white blinking transitions you had there at the end. But I HATE when PRO killers or snipers can hit their targets in movies. That guy should have been dead with the first shot from the sniper. I mean that sniper had all the time he needed for a shot and you're telling me he misses. Then what the hell is he doing out there in the first place! LAME

Sorry but that sniper was never ment to be a pro killer. He was actualy supposed to not be good. I guess he was supposed to be kindof a wanna be sniper.

From what i Understood, That sniper Was defending a meth lab. This might tell you something about his skill. And I'm sure he's probably had some.."samples" of the product.

Oh my mistake, I thought he was trying to kill the guy. Then thats pretty lame to just have a sniper lay out there all day making sure no one finds this shack out. Then the sniper waits till after the guy finds the meth to give him a warning shot. makes sense if you really really stretch it. (why not just have a guy sit out there and tell people they cant come in? Or to mind their business.

No the sniper did not intentionaly miss to give him a warning shot. He was actualy trying to hit him but like your herd before he is a meth maker and is probably going to be pretty messed up being around all those chemicals all day long. I guess I made this movie for the watcher to do some thinking and actualy make up some of the story themselves.

You should've used a digital sound effect for the pistol, even though you were using a blank/real one. The sound quality changes between the sniper gun shot, and the pistol sound, and seems kind've funky.

That's just my opinion, however.

This short was great, I think. You have surley done a good job in the editing room, and that is partly why I give this a 5/5. I loved the blur effects, and the way you had edited the movie. Great job!

The style of it, reminds me a little of how I like to make movies mye self. biggrin

The story is propbaly a little bit to simple, but believe me, it is dificult to make a great story, when you just are to make a short on five minutes.

lol hm.. well i think ur "meth" lab was pretty funny.. a few questions
How did this reporter just STUBLE onto it? its out in the middle of no where.. second question.. how does a guy jacked up on meth, mannage to miss that many times.. then hit him on the hardest shot? (while hes running... seems like he would have been able to shoot him better when kid was standing still

third.. cowboy thing? (i think thats enough said). i dunno the editing was done well (in my opinion). but it lacked realizm, along with a few other things

decent film 3/5 if you ignore the story line flaws.. (not trying to be mean) but if i hadnt of read what it was about.. i would have been like "he found clorox bleach.. and now.. hes getting shot at for walking in snow?"
