i'm still trying to get mine to be small enough. Around 50 MB is the size that is wanted right?

What if the file is bigger, but using WinRar makes it small enough?

I hope i get this done in time.

It's already over, so it doesn't matter.

As for my movie, it was as my sig stated: "Twins". It's a mockumentary/sketch comedy (The Office and a lil' bit of Arrested Development-style) about the upside to being a twin, and then the pro and cons of NOT being one. (I believe being invisible as a twin and chocolate are gonna be mentioned, a AI2 story cameo) I'm still working on it, because I want it to be good, so I didn't get it into this contest, but oh well. Better to have a drawn-out quality product than a rushed peice of crap.

VirtualDub can compress video into Divx nicely if you just download the free Divx codec.

For me it's 9:09pm Feb 28, 2006 - I'd say that entries should be accepted no later than Feb 28, 2006 at 11:59:59 for the timezone you are in, unless Tarn says otherwise.

btw, your real name wouldn't happen to be Ronnie would it?

Due to program development commitments and other factors, we won't be able to watch all the movies for a couple of weeks, unfortunately.

Once we have done, however, you can expect a full report and in-depth reviews of the winning entries!

Competition Submitters (and other FXHomers)

I wanted to wish a sincere good luck to everyone that submitted.

I forgot how difficult it was to meet a deadline. After staying up until 3 in the morning for several days to complete my submission, I can appreciate everyone's efforts. I would be lying if I say I didn't want to "win" (whatever that really means). However, I'm honestly more interested in seeing the other participants submissions.

One of the things that never lacks in FXHome movies is creativity and effort. So I'm personally eager to see everyone's work. I know that I've put my best effort in my submission. So no matter how I place in this competition, I'm confident that I'll have something to learn from EVERY SINGLE entry.

I'm sure this may sound insincere and cliche to most, but believe me when I say I wish everyone luck.

As far as I can remember it is only the top ten winners that will be hosted at the FXHome website. Will there be any way of veiwing the other films that did make the top ten when the results are published?

yeah...that would be cool...like even if it's not for a prize or something! like how TF.N did star wars episode i (part of the lightsaber fihgt) that would be pretty cool to do. I think it was...um...what's the word...rotoscoping contest? something like that! that would be the coolest!! biggrin

Yeah, I talked to a guy who spend much time at TFN, and he said that they arranged a lightsaber choreagrephy competition from time to time.. It would have been cool with some competitions here with different themes. Like a best-trailer-competition or best-story-competition or of course the best-FX-competition! biggrin When I read the first news about this competition, we still had a 56kbs modem (no teasing please wink ) and so I couldn't upload a good quality vesrion, so I just skipped it. Now, I've just forgotten that I'm now capeble to participate, and so I have no movie to submitt.. sad So if there will be another competition sometime, I would definitly participate! Anyway, VERY curious to see the movies submitted to this contest! Good luck to you all, and may the best filmmaker win!
I'm really looking forward to the results of this contest! I'm still kind of new here, so I just wondered: have there been a contest like this anytime before? In which case what movie won?

Keep it up, FXhome team, I love yer work!

Tarn, I sent you a PM of the vid, it was hosted on YOUSENDIT, so make sure it didn't fall into a spam filter in the E-mail k? Also, I uploaded it over six days ago, so the link won't last long.

I wonder....where does TF.N even get the clips from? with no lightswords? could fxhome get something like that or even have a competition with one of their lightsaber clips....the only reason i really think they should have a contest with a provided clip is because it sounds cool...it seems more fair (cuz not everyone can get good lighting or angles or get it fast like other filmmakers), and because I and posibly others cannot get a few people together and get it fast enough at the same time so it would be cool if it were all the same lighting, same speed, same clip, so the judges don't get distracted by speed, etc. but pay attention to the lightswords themselves. So that's kinda what i think! I don't know what anybody else thinks but i think that would be cool! biggrin

I have my hopes on everyone, but if Klut wins then at least I'll feel a tiny bit part of the celebration (I made the monkey dance music for him).

Good luck to everyone, I'm sorry I couldn't meet the deadline. But at least I'll get to watch lots and lots of movies that I know will be great.

FXhomer - which movie was yours? The movie 'Blood Brothers' had to be removed as it was submitted as a flash file that couldn't be downloaded. As stated in the rules, submissions had to be in Quicktime or divx formats.

I saved it as an avi, then rendered it as a divx, so i guess that was enough. Could it have just been because i uploaded it to the wrong site?
