Ok, so we weren't going to release anything more till the project was wrapped and in the can. But, we've been getting emails from people asking whether the project was dead, on hold or what not. In short, we got tired of saying (as I'm sure they got tired of hearing) "We're working on it, have patience." So, to that end, we've put together this little teaser to let everyone know that yes, we and SG-2 are still alive and kicking.

(Just to restate, this is a teaser, not a trailer smile Enjoy!

Nice one. Good to finally see a stargate fanfilm with decent production values.
That has some parts that look visually pretty promising (aware cinematography! unfortunately a rare thing here).

The buildup is good, the music fits (bill brown is always a good choice for teasers), the cinematography sticks out from the crowd here, solid grading, very good and creative sounddesign and the acting seems to be pretty believable.

Good, keep it coming. smile

Hey JohnCarter, what were you reasons for a rating of 2? I'd like to know so I can continue to improve my skills.

Hi,
Finally got to watch it, I agree a lot of time and effort has gone into this, I wish you do well with this, which is ironic as the more success you have the more chance MGM will find out and then stop your film, all that time and effort wasted sad

Good clear quality, good clear sounds, looks good, if you can get your film to have entertainment values to match your filming you'd guy will be onto a winner.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks Ian and Sollthar and everyone else for your reviews. We're always glad to get as much feedback as we can. This is a fanfilm in the strictest sense, combined with our love for filmmaking. We'll do our best to deliver a solid bit of entertainment.

Again, thanks everyone and keep those reviews comin'.

Great visuals! Loved the shot where the sun just peeks in front of the guy. I thought the "you're going die" echo and the tone used was a bit cheesy and did not sound like something an elite fighting commander would say/use. He also spoke just a bit too fast.

I say this with absolutely no sarcasm, but have your actors watch some film tough guys-T2, Die Hard stuff like that. The actors in the trailer did not seem one bit tough or battle hardened.

FX were great!! Nice work.

Well, I meant to give it 2.4 but we can't.

I rarely give more than 4 to anything so let's consider this on a scale of 4.

One for cinematography because as Sollthar points out, it is a usually sorely neglected part of films around here... One for quality of integration of effects - which is above usual for here as well and .4 for sound design. The voice of your actor does not convey well what he says. The look of the film seems good but the action seems weak from what we can tell from the teaser. Editing could be much tighter - I refer to the girl falling with her gun amongst others. CG looks good and believable for the most part.

0 because you were not original with your trailer - you copied the style of the Tony Scott Domino trailer. First the repetition of sentences without the editing to back it up is annoying and redundant. Second, the visuals doesn't support the rythm hence created.

Ultimately, it is just an opinion. I look forward to the finished film.

First off, I want to give a big thanks to John for not only taking the time to view and rate this, but also explaining his rating. Thats something that is invaluable to me as a filmmaker and I much appreciate it.

I'm being honest here when I say prior to your post, I had not seen the trailer for Domino. I'll have to go check it out. I'm not apologizing for anything we've done here, because we're doing the best we can. And we're having fun which, in the case for not doing a production for money, is the whole point smile

Again, I love hearing everyone's opinion and reasons. Thanks guys.

Mmmm... Must be in the air of time because I am seeing this everywhere now and it is getting tiresome. Ironically enough, on the Domino special features, they mention that everybody will be copying their style soon...

I usually do not take the time to review anything anymore because it usually turns into flame wars. Thanks for having the maturity to take criticism for what it is worth: another person's opinion, good or bad.

There is nothing to apologize for. You are doing your best but you are also asking for people's view on it. Keep having fun. It's the number one best reason to make films.

Personally, I thought the echoeing effect was what I liked most about the Trailer - auditive, that is. I thought it was well done technically and I liked the feel of it - and the fact it did more then just repeat what your character said.
So I guess that's a good example how opinions can differ, as two previous posters didn't seem to like it.

I agree though that the captains voice wasn't strong enough to really make his character 100% as tough as he should be. Maybe some minor tweaks would be good, a bit more lowtones, more bass - maybe even pitch the voice down a bit.

Hmmmmmmmm......

Pretty good. One thing I saw did need work was some of the cg, but overall a neat trailer. I liked the echo-ish part at the beggining and the mussle flashes need a bit of tweaking also. Despite all of that, it looks promising, and above all, I loved that explosion, which, I would really like to know how you did now that you said it was real. And wasn't legality an issue? You'd think people blowing things up in the middle of fields would disturb someone.

So good cinematography overall. And I again press for more info on those explosions. Like "how did you pull that off" ect.

Regards,

-Lando

Thanks for your comments Landon. Wanna know a little secret? This was my first try at compositing CG on a live background, so I'm glad it was liked at all biggrin Ahh yes, those muzzle flashes. Hehe, if you look at the first teaser we put out, I think you'll agree we've come along way in our progress upwards towards better muzzle flashes. But as always, there is much room for improvement, so we will be working on that as best we can. The good thing of this is that even if you like nothing else, you'll most likely enjoy the ending razz.

Thanks for taking time to comment. We do appreciate it.
