Update - topic for E3 discussion now.... smile

_______

Only a few weeks til the consoles are revealed on the show floor at E3 along with launch games and a fully running next generation Metroid Prime (the one game I want to see from the show).

E3 is going to be nuts this year, PS3 and Rev. Not quite sure what Microsoft will be doing there, let me think.. Halo 3? (sigh)

Red Steel by Ubisoft also looks brilliant fun (can't wait to airmouse that around- '2006 Duckhunt' style!) - give that game a checkout on one of the numerous games sites (ign etc).

Oh, picked up today that the DSLite will launch in America and Europe with the new Mario Bros game. Which is pretty sweet considering how much I want that game and the Lite.

Just out of interest?
What consoles are you all getting?
What's the one game you want in the next twelve months?

(and I don't want arguments ok.. and no mention of PC's etc - if you want to talk about PC's and Mac's. Send a PM to A Pickle wink).

Alas, too young for E3. However, I'll be getting a Revolution as a console gauranteed, and since Nintendo killed the horse power, I'll be getting a second console. I'll just have to see the lineups. Red Steel looks crazy, more into the sword part than the gun though. I'll also pickup a DS Lite and Mario Bros. It won't have quite as many scratches as I'll atually respect it. Zelda TP will also be playable on Revs at the show (along with other games methinks). That will be awesome. This E3 will be awesome, one of the best in a long time. However, it will also be busy. tard

I own a 360, but I want a PS3 more and more for every day that passes... smile
I think E3 could possibly be a dissapointment when they are showing playable versions of ex. Killzone 2 which can't really look that good as a game. Or perhaps it can look that good but a console game (or any game) won't have the same fluid camera motion that the Killzone trailer had. That said, It's gonna rock anyway! I am also exited about the PS3 controller that I hope they'll announce...

Waser - Don't you think it's a bit weird that the first game announced for Revolution was indeed a violent game not produced by Nintendo? I also think it's quite awkward that they choose to make a sword game for revolution, I mean that's probably the first thing many people thought when they saw the controller. As they said on the Gamespot.com podcast, who wants to bet that the next game for revolution will be a fishing game? smile

I was very interested in Xbox360 early this year, but when I did read about the Ps3, I figured... "Why is xbox360 worth anything?

So that console is out of my mind for sure.

Revolution I'm getting anyway, I've been a Nintendo lover since N64.
Nintendo has got the best games, you might think their too childish or something like that..

Well, then you're a moron...

I will most likely get a Ps3 after a few years, I'm not really too rich at the moment. But I bet I'll have one in my room, at least the upcoming two years.

The Revolution I'm getting anyway.

Too excited about E3.

There is a possibility that I might get a Revolution since it's the only console that is any different from PCs, and it'll be cheap. The other 2 are just decently powerful PCs with a controller that plug to your TV, afaik. And I already have a PC.

Personally I'm looking forward to hearing more about Crysis and Unreal Tournament 2007, as well as DirectX10 and Vista gaming.

I will be getting:

Revolution
DS lite
New Super Mario Bros.

And of course, Twilight Princess and Phantom Hourglass. This E3 should be amazing. I'm really excited to see some screens of games other than Red Steel. I might also get the new Castlevania DS game.

PS3 for me! smile

I'm expecially psyched about all of the compatibility between PSPs and PS3s, and (finally!) actual online service from a Playstation Console! Also, being able to use the PS3 as a DVR and a LocationFree Base is going to frickin rock, seeing as I don't have either...

I'm a little bummed that it won't be coming out until November though...I guess it just gives me more time to save up for it! biggrin

Ok, Oblivion is coming to PS3, I've already made my decision. That is the only thing 360 had that PS3 didn't. As for Revolution, I really REALLY want a first person Star Wars game with sabers and guns. Revolution is built for the first person genre, especially with long props such as swords and what not.

one word: CRYSIS. (just watch the trailer off gamespy and you'll see what I mean).

Red Steel looks Really kickass as well, But What really is going to rock is Resident Evil 5, and that new game from The max payne Guys. Otherwise, I'm hoping the New rainbow six will be As good as it looks. And of course, GTA5 on the PS3.

I'm skipping school for that. smile PS-It's actually starting, no more stupid "Waiting screen." Everyone wasn't seated and stuff. Confere4nces are always late. Meh, I guess they're waiting for the sales rep (eww) playing crappy music.

Don't know if I've mentioned it but the Nintendo conference is 2 hours long and held in the building where the academy awards are held. It's gonna be huge.

Downloadable on Gamespot.

Also, Sony is so crappy at conferences. The English-speaking sales rep sounds like a boring math teacher. They showed 3 laps of one course in GTHD. There was no music, no fun. Nintendo delivers fun conferences, even fanboys from elsewhere agree. The crowd isn't cheering or yelling "holy sh**" when they show stuff.

PS1 games on the PSP is cool, but you can already do that with emulators (which is what this is, a first party emulator.) But they showed of Ridge Racer. Why not FFVII or a popular game?

Oh good, geeks can now spend real money enhancing their Warhawk fleet online. What a way to suck money away Sony!

Awesome, a watered down version of iTunes with popular music only for a price on your video game console. Joy. This better get better.

Ok, the Japanese history game is #1 so far IMO and then this sword fighting game, but that doesn't even look that fun. It looks like button mashing fighting and not a lot of controlling of your character. So far, I am extremely dissapointed. Maybe MGS will be shown and I'll be happy.

I guess Lair looked cool, obviously not gameplay though. Getaway teaser showed nothing.

Don't know what Afrika is really, but it looked awesome.

Hotshots Golf looked boring, but Sony sure does love Giraffes.

Monster Kingdom looks promising.

Wow. 8 Days looks really promising, could have a cool story and gameplay. Glad they showed reall gameplay. Same goes for Naughty Dog with a VERY nice environment, great graphics. Holy hell this 1950s England alien game looks awesome.

ROLLING ON THE FLOOR LAUGHING.

$500+

Now, fold a controller right now and try swinging it like a sword. This controller will be used for flying games only and if not then the controls will suck. What a joke.

At least they had a few cool looking games (many looked identical...)

Wow.

Sony really blew it. This technology is Wario Ware Twisted on a larger scale. It could be good for a limited number of games: Tilting and flying games.

Reports that the cheap version of the PS3 will not have:

any memory card slots, memory stick slots, SD slots etc.
Wi-fi support
HDMi output ( therefore no Blu-ray movie output )
20gb HDD

the dearer version will have all the above but not;

the dual HDMI outputs promised,
only 4 USB ports not 6 as promised,
one ethernet port not 3, as promised but quickly dropped last year.

Typical Sony style, too. They’ll do it with the graphics, too... show everyone CG, and then a year later produce actual in-game stuff.

And some new Wii games:

OH MY GOD HOLY GOD YES OH DEAR GOD YES!!!!

"IGN Quotes:

Pit (Kid Icarus)
Solid Snake (Metal Gear Solid)
Zero Suit Samus (the blue "no-suit" Samus from Metroid: Zero Mission)
Meta-Knight (Kirby)
Wario (Wario)

as playable Smash Bros. characters as confirmed by Nintendo! SOLID FREAKING SNAKE! What the heck?!?! AWESOME. I am totally excited they mentioned Smash and more details are being unveiled. They didn't forget it, nor did they forget characters like Pit from Kid Icarus. WOW.

Ah, yes! And Sonic Wild Fire...oh and some more PH for DS, oh the list does seem to go ever on.

I have soo many things to look foward too.

OH YEAH! Breaking news, I forgot. They announced some new characters for Smash Bros Wii. Here are the new chars announced so far.

Pit (Kid Icarus)
Solid Snake (Metal Gear Solid)
Zero Suit Samus (the blue "no-suit" Samus from Metroid: Zero Mission)
Meta-Knight (Kirby)
Wario (Wario)

So much Nintendo news coming in so fast! This is far better than I expected. Zelda with the Wii controller looks awsome, and so does Mario Galaxy. Star Fox on DS, Phantom Hourglass, Wii sports, oh does the list go ever on or what? Red Steel looks awsome though. I absolutely have to get my hands on that!

Well, the show isn't over, and I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo still has a few tricks up its sleeves. Keep your eyes peeled tommorow.

PS- Pooky told me over MSN about Mari Galaxies and before then I didn't realise how great and intuitive it really was: joy stick, A button, flipping, and other buttons are dedicated for Mario's controls, the Wiimote controls environment things too make Mario's travelling through the area/world possible:

example: You see a rubber rope like thing, with the Wiimote, aim on it and press B. Drag it back and put it in Mario's hands. Let go and he goes flying.

Also, Mario's graphics look very clean and cool with great lighting, rendering, and pretty reflections and textures.

If Snake is in SSBB (Super Smash Bros. Brawl - awesome name IMO), that means more 3rd party characters which rocks (Sonic maybe?). It's coming out in 2007 though, too bad. unsure We got Zelda, Mario, and a bit more to tide us over until then.

So far, Microsoft have impressed me for the sheer number of games they have arriving to the console, although they don't seem to have anything exclusive aside from Halo 3. Sony haven't done much to make anyone go 'wow', the MGS4 trailer has caused a bit of a storm, but I remember the Snake Eater trailer causing a media frenzy and the game ended up so bad... nobody brought it.

I look forward to who wins the e3 show awards. Should be interesting.

Nintendo fanboys scare me...Calm down kids, it's only SSB, I'm pretty sure in the grand scheme of things, It's not exactly earthshattering...

Also, just to make sure the facts are straight, MGS 3 was incredible.

I'll save you the read, CX3.

It's a bunch of Nintendo-fanboy's downplaying the greatness of the PS3 and up-playing that of the Wii. Wow, who would have thought? A new SSB, Wario, Yoshi, Metroid, Mario, DK, Zelda, etc. game? Why am I not surprised. Not surprised at all. The sole reason I dislike Nintendo. The same freaking games, people, stories, and one-group-of-kiddy-games-appealling-to-one-group-of-people games over and over and over. Meh. Don't attack me, (Serp, evman, etc.) because you know it's true. Nintendo never wants to break out of their element. Their element is overusing and abusing their personal favorite character over and over. I'm just plain exhausted by them. It's ridiculous. You complain of the PS-line not putting out new, fresh ideas/games, when Nintendo does the same thing again and again. You claim the PSP has no good games, because each is a copy off of a PS or PS2 game, then you say "OMG ONGNOGMOMG !!!!!111" when they announce the same N64 titles from 7+ years ago on the DS.

Ha, it's really funny. Everbody's like "meeeeehhhhhhh" when the Sony conference is going, and then "F*(k yeah!!!!!! @$$ $h*t yeah!!!" at SSB. I don't get it. It truthfully makes me laugh.

Everything you just said Atom is also the exact reason as to what Sony and Microsoft have done, and yet, they don't have any innovative way or marketing their new sequels. Nintendo do always try and do something new with each sequel, something which cannot be said for the other big franchises from other videogames companies.

I won't start, because honestly, I had these arguments on the internet seven years ago and they haven't changed.

Nintendo however have caused the biggest positive media frenzy, thousands of people are cueing for their booths at E3 (unlike the Microsoft or Sony booth) - there was a sign outside the Nintendo booth saying 'wait time 180mins, and yet still people joined the cue.. that's insane. I've been to a few games conferences and exhibitions in my time and yeah, it's insane. At this E3 the reception has been the best for Nintendo. That is all fact, read into it what you will.

I myself am pretty excited about Too Human on the Xbox 360, I'll be following that one closely.

WOW. http://revolution.ign.com/e3/2006/videos/ One of the latest vids. It shows someone using the virtual console! Pretty sweet. There's also a short vid of the light gun. Just it in the case, no footage of someone playing a game with it.

No, we like the Wii, we are stating facts that dissapoint us and the Sony fans as a whole. Yu aren't a Sony fan, you are a random casual fanboy who has n idea what he's talking about. I love Super Smash Bros. I am excited at the game, and the new characters they have introduced, I am happy. If you said HECK YES, ASSASSIN FOR PS3, I wouldn honestly not care and be happy for you because it could definately be a cool game. The only N64 title that's a remake is Diddy Kong Racing, the rest are SEQUELS. I didn't say OH YES F YEAH for Diddy Kong Racing, nor did anyone.

PS- NINTENDO announced 3 new IPs at the conference, something no developer did. You are getting your facts 100% wrong. PSP games are terrible IMO, the only ones worth playing are Lumines, Lemmings, and some platformer. I find DS games fun, why do you fund this offensive?

The only titles Nintendo have remade on the DS are: Mario 64, and Diddy Kong, and one of those was an old 2nd party game. So piss off and do some research before you pretend to think you know what your talking about. AND PLEASE, I hate this the MOST. Do not put words into my mouth, I do not "know it's true" because it is literally FALSE. I like Nintendo, I dislike PSP, and I dislike the PS3's price tag. I would like to have a PS3, but everything they announced was stupid to me and I would only get it if I had an extra $700 lying around (if I were to say, want games with my system.) Now shut up, and never say a fact again unless you provide examples. You don't even know the deifinition of sequel, at least learn that.

Now, Smash Bros. is my favorite game of all time, period. I am allowed to be excited and I did not attack anyone at all. Shut the hell up dude, seriously.

PPS: Microsoft is literally with Nintendo now in this console war.

OH YES! YEAH! DIDDY KONG RACING! wink

Just kidding. One problem with our post atom. Remakes? Nintendo is not recycling old ideas. They are finding new ways to create them. Sony isn't. For example, it hard to remake a puzzle game with a new feel. Nintendo did with Tetris DS. What's Sony doing? Making lumines 2 and lumines for PS2 which are most likely almost the same game as lumines 1 for PSP.
