I was having a debate in my english class of which character is better. I was argueing on the side of Sam Fisher.

Why I chose Sam Fisher-

1- He is complete stealth.

2- His games to me are better

3- He has cooler moves than Solid Snake.

Why I didn't choose Solid Snake

1- Compared to Sam Fisher his health is outrageous.

2- (This may sound stupid but...) I can't stand the way his voice sounds

3- He is way too overrated when I'm not a big fan of the Metal Gear games.

I just want to know what you guys think. smile

Where is the choice for Garrett from the Thief series? He’s stealthy, does not wear glowing lights so his enemy’s can see him and does not have half hour cut scenes in the middle of gameplay.

Why i choose Solid Sname:

1) Snake's english voice is that of David Hayter the writer of X1 and X2

2) MGS games have better cinematography

3) Snake is the ultimate rouge patriot, as opposed to Sam who is a some what steriotypical game US patriot.

4) Sam Fisher likes dudes
"You know how i know your gay, your Sam Fisher"

Snake : Dodges Bullets
Sam : Dodges light bulbs and daylight

Snake : fights big Robots
Sam : plays hide and seek

Snake : Has a headband of "Inf. ammo"
Sam : Has 3 glow sticks on his head

Snake : plays in boxes
Sam : plays with himself in the dark

The winner is quite simple.

Why didn't anyone mention the fact that "Solid Snake" has the ultimate Phallic innuendo as a name? It's simple things like that, that Make him #1 in everyones book. Sam Fisher also Co-starred in Brokeback mountain.

Personally, I think Sam Fisher wins out easily. For a start, he has writers that have a modicum of skill, whereas Snake's writers appear to have the maturity and narrative nous of a 10 year old.

But, beyond any of that - he's voice by Michael Ironside. Which means he wins by default. Anybody that questions that is not only wrong, but also slightly sick.

Sam Fisher may like men, though he is voiced by a total badass - Michael Ironside.

I think I'd go for Solid Snake though, even though I'm unsure why I remember him hauling ass. Perhaps it's because Raiden's such a girls blouse that when within proximity he multiplies Snake's coolness.

And before this goes any further, Big Boss also sucks. Infact, barring 1 game. All the MGS games sucked. The Splinter Cell games have improved as they grow whereas the MGS games have over-complicated what was best at a more basic level.

Snake is a cooler character (being further out into fiction/alternative futures) though The Splinter Cell games own MGS any day. razz

wink I've always despised the MGS series for the random story and strange gameplay. In Chaos Theory, however, you feel like a total badass most of the time.

To tell you the truth Sam Fisher and Solid Snake wouldnt last a second against Contra. Ya can't dodge the spread/spray gun... lights out... only way contra would lose is if they had the lazer gun.. that gun sucked and every1 hated grabbing it.

At least Garrett is a stealth character who has been compared to Sam Fisher quite a few times (the Thief games invented stealth game play), from what I have seen (not that I am a huge fan mind you) Samus is an action character.

Tom Clancy is an amazing book writer and the video games are just as good. I like the "real life" spectrum video games such as Black(Not Tom Clancy game but just as good) Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, and Splinter Cell. Real life as in no rediculous amounts of health(unless it has a good reason(Halo Metroid Prime)).

Another stupid reason is the menu system is all jacked up. I takes me about 6 minutes just to get to the loading section.

Master Chief is a wussy, and Solid Snake doesn't need any fancy technology like Sam Fisher. Plus he's a clone of Big Boss, possibly the most badass man ever.

BTW Big Boss could "own" anyone, just give him a knife and he's all set to kick some ass.

Guys , i know we all have our heroes...

But its pointless saying Link could beat them, its just silly..

I mean, Batman could kick the crap out of both Snake and Sam, im a massive snake fan and even i know the Batman pwnz him...

Link VS Batman...

id pay to watch that landslide of a match...

Link with his sword and bow, batman with his EVERYTHING.

lol

Back on topic, lets not bring other heroes into this, Batman could kill them all...

So lets keep it to the posted tpoic, Sam vs Snake

The only technology Sam Fisher has is his goggles. Besides I've seen snake with night vision and heat vision.

The only two fictional charaters I could count as real is Sam Fisher and Batman. They don't have super strength and they are not clones.

Sam is voiced by : Michael Ironside

(nice mullet, do they sell mens hair where you got that?)

Snake is voiced by : David Hayter

(Five'o'clock shadow... at 12 in the morning BOOYAH!)

Snake even has a "pretty'er boy" voice acter.

Snake wins....

Er, yes, so Michael Ironside clearly still wins by a huge mile.

And Hayter only wrote the first draft of X2, the rest was by Singer's in-house chums. And as Hayter was denied the chance to direct Watchmen and the script is now in turnaround and flying all over the place since it got shut down, that's hardly a feather in his cap at this point!

Doing a couple of cheesy voices and writing one half-good movie isn't quite the same as having your head exploded, wiping out giant bugs, having your arms cut off by an elevator and going right into the danger zone.

First, if this topic was anywhere near serious im sure people would give their come backs more thought, the topic is about as credible as a Jesus VS The Hulk topic.

Nothign lost but time, nothing gained but a few laughts.

snake all the way, can you see fisher going one on one bare knuckle in a minefield, can you see fisher taking on a 30ft robot monster, plus snake can survive any form of torture and is so cool people try to clone him! And he's got some of the best one liners in the universe!Plus he can do over 50 grunts before he breaks someones neck, Sam Fisher needs a rocking chair and a warm glass of shut the hell up smile

Live snake Livvvvveeeeeeeee!
