New movie, looks kinda funny.

http://www.apple.com/trailers/lions_gate/employeeofthemonth/large.html

I love Dax Sheperd, hate Dane Cook with a passion, and love Jessica Simpson, so we'll see how this one turns out. Andy Dick and "Vote for Pedro" Pedro are in it too.

"I'M DANE COOK! I TOOK 5 RITALIN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON WITH SOME MALT LIQUOR AND WEED! I SHOUT EVERYTHING I SAY!!! AH! DANE COOK IS COOL! IM LIKE, LAYING OUT AND LIKE.......DANE COOK IS COOL!"
That's why Dane Cook is lame, he thinks he's the greatest, whereas his 'shout and act-out bad stand-up completely physically' brand of comedy really only appeals to highschool/college kids, and complete jackasses who shout "somebody sh!t on the coats" randomly, thinking it's funny. (I'm not talking about you, but rather the immature emo kids and adults that think they're funny.)

This movie absolutely looks hilarious. Dax as the creepy Mr. Perfect, with the witty hispanic sidekick is a nice combo. (And Efren Ram at that!)

Andy Dick and Harlen Williams are both absolutely histerical as well, I hope they make an as comedic group with Cook as Carrel did with the Tech team in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin".

I think she's nothing like Britney Spears. She doesn't appear to be trashy at all, and it's not her doing if producers want her in movies. Plus, everybody can't really say she's terrible at acting, since she's really only been in one movie, and I doubt the writing was good enough to carry her lines anyway. I dunno, maybe it's because she grew up in our hometown, so we heard alot more about her before she was really famous than most people, but it bugs me when people just say someone looks dumb for no reason, or that they suck at acting if they've only been in one movie, in a gimmicky role at that.

Those are Razor MiniKarts, and they sell them at most Costco or Sam's Club Stores (The ones SuperClub imitates). You can find them here.

Dax is hilarious, in Punk'd and in movies. He was greast with Seth Green and Matthew Lilard in 'Without a Paddle' (and ZATHURA!!!!), so I expect him to be funny in this too.

Personally, I like Dane Cook. He may be a raging, screaming idiot; but then so are a lot of people. Plus, most comedians make their jokes off of fairly obvious observations. Dane just observes people being raging, screaming idiots I suppose.

I guess. I just enjoy comedy, if it's that type of stand-up, to be more of a storyline going on, or a sketch, kind of like Richard Pryor or Jerry Seinfeld, not idiotic generalizations. We all hear enough of those off of the stage.

How is it then, that Dane Cook has the number comedy album debut of all time? Some people obviously have to think he is funny. I think you are not understanding his jokes. Of course the act of him yelling and whatever can be tiresome. I saw him like 5 years ago on Comedy Central and his act in my opinion is very unique and hilarious. Come on, getting head and turning into Vidal Sasoon. That is hilarious IMO.

What I don't get is how you can despise Dane Cook and like Andy Dick. He is such a tool.

Hey it's Mickey from Seinfeld!

This looks really funny. By the way if you were wondering one of the songs in that commercial was F.I.G.H.T. by Unwritten Law.

Atom you remind me of Roger Ebert. If you critisize something, critisize it. I think you have the potential of making more people cry than Simon Cowell.

Jessica Simpson - Probably really ditsy blonde. I don't know much about her and I don't watch her reality TV shows. I could care less about some celeberity's life. I feel bad for people like her. You have to be monitered by everyone. That would suck.

Jessica Simpson is hot. I'll get that out of the way first.

As for whether I like her or not, I have no idea. I don't know of anything she's done, I've never seen or heard of anything she's done, so I can't say I can make an accurate character judgement from my end. Even if I could, it's hard for me to up and judge people I don't know, and may never know. She's probably a fantastic (and hot) human being to be around, but she could just as likely be some blonde Hitler reincarnate (or something in between). A hot Hitler reincarnate.

As for Dane Cook being a raging, screaming idiot... it boils down to preference. I think he's hilarious, and his style of comedy does involve a lot of volume. So what? Does that make him suck? I mean, I can understand being like, "I don't find him funny" but "He sucks" is perhaps a little harsh...

I hate Macs that have their volume turned up in large public auditoriums in front of large audiences. Gah, I can't stand those.

....not quite the same...

...but still.

I actually think its his physical acts that make him funny, and thats what I like about him. Although some of his screaming is annoying, and sometimes he does it excessively, ruining a good joke in the process, but overall he's not that bad. I mean who could forget classics like speak and spell like the devil? I know I can't. wink

Jeff Foxworthy holds the title of #1 comedy debut album, I believe. Sure, people think he's funny, but I see it as more of a fad. You like Dane Cook because other people like Dane Cook. Heck, I even loaded up $2 worth of DC on my iPod just incase when someone used it they could find "Dane Cook" on it. (I know, lame, right?) It's like the Livestrong bracelets; some people actually stood for the cause of fighting against cancer, then most of the others just jumped-on it like a fashion trend.

He can be funny, sure, but nowhere near the inventive, witty, thought-out humor of others. His jokes are very base-level, targeted at the slacker college student who doesn't have to think about them. I doubt I'm not understanding them.

Don't get me wrong, I've given him a few tries, I even watch DC's "TourGasm" on HBO every once and a while to catch a laugh.............but it's not there. wink

I saw him like 5 years ago on Comedy Central and his act in my opinion is very unique and hilarious. Come on, getting head and turning into Vidal Sasoon. That is hilarious IMO.
My point exactly. I saw that Comedy Central act 5 years ago and thought it was fairly funny too. But there's the kicker, it was 5 YEARS AGO. The guy's still throwin' around tired material, and if it's a new act of jokes, it's the same tired 'yell-n-jump' routine. Maybe it's just me, but I think Cook is the worst. I used to tell people a while back, before he got big, how it was funny how hard he tried on such a lame act. (IMO, of course)

What I don't get is how you can despise Dane Cook and like Andy Dick. He is such a tool.[/quote]
Andy Dick keeps his stuff fresh, different, and he's never really a main character, so he has no need to really stand out. Cook is the lead, there's a difference.

Now don't think I'm some Jessica Simpson fanatic, but this comment really bugs me, because it's what alot of people say as a scapegoat for a conversation about a celebrity. They just throw out the words "very trashy" without meaning, and think that's that. Trashy how? I hate when people say that about any celebrity, because you have to have some class in order to perform and be famous.

Now Paris Hilton, I would call trashy, but for obvious reasons. You can think what you want, I hate Lindsay Lohan, but 'Wanna =be sexy chick' is generally a term reserved for not-so-popular chicks who think they are BIG TIME stars. Jessica Simpson's one of the hottest celebs out right now, hardly a wannabe.

Nice stereotype. My friends are emo. Just because you laugh at a certain type of joke it doesn't make you immature. It's in the context of which the joke was said/done or how it was created. Comedy is an art. And just like any other art there are different ways of expressing it. SinBad was one of my favorite comedians. He yells and it's halarious.

Yes, there are the twelve year olds who think Napolean Dynomite is the best movie ever but still there are some funny elements in the movie. I know adults that think Napolean Dynomite is halarious. Infact those immature adults you just mentioned would be my parents.

Jessica Simpson acts as well as anyother "mediocre" actress. But there are always those who have to show skin just get attention. For example Jessica Alba. I really don't think I would of liked Fantastic 4 at all if I never saw her in a bra and panties. She acted the worse when she was about to fight Doctor Doom.

"Susan let's not fight!"
"No. Let's!"

That was like the weakest line in the movie.

Normally I'd reserve this part of my post to Rip on emo kids like carazy, But i'll hold back to stay on topic.

The movie looks entertaining, nothing super special (Like talladega nights)

Jessica simpson certainly has her moments, but isn't hot Constantly. (A certain actress from "The girl next door' and "24" IS though)

And to sum up, Dane cook is less manic then he used to be, and his standup has gotten more refined. He's also hilarious. Then again, check out "Daniel Tosh"'s Cd "True stories I made Up"..THAT is superiorly awesome>

In 2005, Cook launched a nationwide tour dubbed "Tourgasm" (highlights from which aired as "Dane Cook's Tourgasm." It debuted on HBO June 11, 2006) and followed it up with his second album Retaliation, which debuted at #4 on Billboard magazine's Top Albums chart, the most successful comedy album debut since Steve Martin's A Wild and Crazy Guy in 1979. Cook wore a T-shirt depicting Steve Martin and "A Wild And Crazy Guy" at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dane_Cook

That's where I got my info, how did you hear about Foxworthy?

Dane Cook, to me, is not a fad. I do not like him because other people do. I'm really dissapointed how you have such a hate but don't back it up with anything other than just your own personal opinion filled with rage. As stated before, you make horrible stereotypes about the type of people that like Dane Cook. You are terribly wrong Atom.

How does Andy Dick keep his stuff fresh? When's the last time Andy Dick did stand up? Made a comedy cd/dvd? He is nothing but a Pauly Shore type B-role actor.

If you do not like Dane Cook that's fine. I won't understand it, but okay, fine. But don't go saying who does and who doesn't like him and for what reasons. It really shows your age and maturity.

One more thing. So you understand the Vidal Sasoon joke? You fully get it because you've been there, with a girl, getting that done? Not until then can you really really get that joke.

(BTW, if your with that girl who does that, don't laugh if your listening to that cd with her...Better yet, listen to it by yourself. smile

This doesn't look good AT ALL. It is one of those movies where every highschooler/middle schooler is going to go see on a friday night and it will be just like every other comedy that comes out. With some worse acting by Jessica Simpson. Kinda like Me, you, and dupree. It will have maybe one funny part, then the rest of it you are mad you spent your money on it.

Then again I only like movies like, Life Aquatic, I Heart Huckabees, and Me you and Everyone we Know. Oh, and basically anything with Will Ferrell, Steve Carell and Bill Murray (best actor ever).

I actually thought the critics were wrong on this one and that it wasn't that bad of a film. Simpson is still unimpressive as an actress but Dane is much better than the critics give him credit for. Had some very funny parts. 4/5 stars from me.

Ah, man, I laughed out loud at this! Wrong? About whether something/someone is funny or not? You're absolutely ridiculous, man; comedy is probably the most subjective genre of acting. Surely something being "funny" or not is fueled by the receiver's opinions, no?

Just because one person finds it funny doesn't mean everyone will. Nobody can be genuinely funny, because nobody'll ever be liked/well-received by everyone.

As for the movie, it was pretty funny, but not as good as I'd hoped. The scene where Dax tries to do all the stuff Dane does is funny, especially when he tries to finish Jessica Simpson's sentences and fails every time. Oh, and the line,

Dane: "....because we're all pink on the inside."
Dax: "Pink like a vagina!"

Hi-larious. School for Scoundrels was funnier, though. Dane Cook's still the man, despite some of his lame jokes. I get it all the time that I'm just like him, so why hate someone you're compared to? Hah.

Lighten up son! It's ok not to like dane cook, But you don't have to try and start a revolt agianst his comedy. If you don't think its funny don't listen to him. Stop trying to convince other people that he's not funny. I think dane cook is hilarious! I also think jessica simpson should be shot, but I'm not going to try and convince you that she's a retard! Your right dance cook is CRAZY and that's why I think he's funny, does that mean I'm emo? No I just think what he say's funny. But if you don't then thats cool...

He is a trend currently, but before retaliation, he had a small loyal fanbase, including me. About 4 years ago, my cousin from Michigan showed me some of his stuff and told me that there were quite a few people in Michigan at the time who listened to him. So is he a trend: yes, has he always been: no, I eventually think he will die down in popularity and a part of me will be content. You know the feeling when you discover something(movie, band, comedian, etc.) and are a loyal fan only to be just another ant in the crowd of a crazy trend when he hits it big later on, well thats me along with a ton of other fans. I am extremely happy for him though.

I saw this movie yesterday:

I'm a huge fan of dane cook but i've decided he belongs more on the stage than in the cinema. Don't let that comment make you think I thought he was bad in this movie though, I simply prefer him more as a stand up comedian. Employee of the Month was okay. In the beginning I thought it was gonna be awful but it definitely picked up as the movie went on. Some of the parts of the movie I thought were very funny like the part i think Ben pointed out before. There were also a lot of things in the movie that I found funny because of the ridiculousness of what was going on.

I think people are too critical sometimes with movies. Sometimes you have to realize what kind of movie you're judging. This was not intended to be a breakthrough masterpiece; it was meant to make you laugh and entertain and i was entertained overall.
