Animated displacement filter?

Could anybody make an animated displacement filter for elab, I mean like the 'ripple' filter?

I'm not really sure what you want it to be animated like, could you give some more details on what you want?

I mean a distortion filter that you can place over footage, but it doesn't stay still, it ripples or moves. Like when you throw a stone into water and it ripples - a filter like that which you place over footage. Sorry about my poor explanations.

You can't really do this as a preset, because a displacement map requires a piece of footaga as the source of the displacement, and you can't include a clip of any kind in a preset.

The best way to do this, I think, is not to animate the displacement effect, but to use motion footage that provides the effect you want. Film the water in a pool, or off the side of a boat, for example, and use that as the source for your displaement map.
