im brand new and just got the free demos of all 3 fxhome products.
im COMPLETELY lost. i must have watch a billion tutorials and read a billion forums but i just cant get it.
can someone please explain it simply for me? ive been doing movies and all for a while now but nothing like this effects stuff. ive been using much simpler things such as imovie only because i have an extremely low budget right now. i want to get final cut pro if theres any comments about that? this whole green screen and all these terms are blowing my mind. i love some of the things ive been watching under the cinema but im still lost.
please help!!

Hi there

Could you be a bit more specific to what exactly you need help with? I'm sure you understand that no one here can lead you through everything, so being a bit more specific then a general "Help me" will surely help you getting some replies.

There also is a little word called "Practise"
i got effects lab's demo and i had no idea what i was doing, then in a weeks time Bam i was already making muzzle flashes.
Effects lab and Composite lab are all easy to use after a bit of practise.

i downloaded the effects lab maybe 3 days ago and i havnt been able to close it down. i keep tryin to mess with it but cant do what im thinking. the terms "mask" and "composite" confuse me. what exactly does a mask do?
and i was trying to do some reading up on green screens and it said some things i dont understand. is it all that hard?
when you have something, lets say a person standing in front of a green screen, and u import it into the timeline, and you import another clip like mountains for example, does the green automatically dissapear? like how does that work?

A mask is where you draw a shape on the video file and make whatever is under the mask disappear. If there is not another video under it will look like a black hole.

Wiki on Compositing: In visual effects post-production, compositing refers to creating complex images or moving images by combining images from different sources – such as real-world digital video, digitized film, synthetic 3-D imagery, 2-D animations, painted backdrops, digital still photographs, and text. Basically you can add an effect or a video file to another video file.

oh ok so a mask..is like if i wanted umm..like the headless horseman for example, a guy sitting on horse, i would put a mask on his head and it would dissaper? you would first film the shot with everything, then film the shot with him not there, so then the mask would look like what was behind his head?

and compositing is like, just putting 2 video clips on top of each other?

Yeah. Have you watched the video tutorials? They are going to be much more helpful than a bunch of us users trying to explain everything, I think. Not that we mind answering questions, but if you want to get a grasp of the basics, I think they would be the simplest explanation for you, as they have visuals to show you what the various terms mean, and exactly how to do it in the programs.

Sounds like you haven't preview rendered. Click the RAM button at the top left of the timeline.

Did you add a bullet using stock footage? Unless the footage is super slow-mo you aren't going to see the bullet anyway.
