Well my good fxhome friends, the time has come to start saying my good bye's for 2 years. As many of you know I am Mormon or a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. I have been wanting to serve a 2 year mission (serve the church and preach the restored Gospel) like many young men do in our church including my older brothers. This summer I have been busy working on my mission papers, and they finally went in, and now are back. I finally recieved my mission call.
I am leaving December 6th 2006 to Fukuoka, Japan! So yes when I get back I will be speaking Japanese!
(here is me when I first got my call)

(me getting happy tears after finding out)

(friends and family supporting me in my mission)

(me as a missionary)

Now I would like to thank everyone here that has helped my become a better film maker and person. So thanks FXHOME team! Tarn, Malone, Schwar, Sollthar, Mechaforce, Sidewinder, pooky, Serpent, Redhawksrymmer, er-no, ben3308, Andreas, Hybrid-Halo, waser,CX3,Evman,TimmyD,Bryce007,RudyPicardo,Miker. And anyone else that helped my out thanks alot!
love you guys and wish me luck!
-Aaron

Wow man. I kept reading and was waiting for the "got you!".
Obviously you're being serious. You know, I think it's a real cool thing to do and I wish you all of luck in Japan.

I'll guess I'll see you around sooner or later. Thanks for all cool movies and have a good time! You know where to reach me.
Ah man, it's hard to write some good stuff in a post like this. Well, just get back here some day!

Yours,
Andreas smile

Hm, this is surprising indeed.

Allthough I can't say I wish you good luck with your mission without lying, I surely wish you a good time in Japan and good luck with their language, I hear it's quite a different world over there.

Maybe you'll find some samurai and come back with a sweet little movie. wink

See you in fxhome 2008 then! smile

Good luck man, I'm quite sure you'll do a great job and the mission will go well (I've never heard of one that went on for two years.. so yeah. wow!).

Definetely keep us updated via this thread when you get out there and storm the interent cafe's. Japan is a beautiful country, and its a language at some point I'm going to take a stab at learning.

Good luck to you! Good times ahead smile

I hope your mission goes well. I didn't serve a mission but I have friends and family that did. Good luck at the MTC. Just think not only are your learning a new language, you have to learn to read a new set of characters too! Wow! Best of luck and stay out of trouble. Sharing ones faith is a very admirable thing.

And as for ssjaaron, i do wish you luck, and i know you'll have fun in Japan. I know several people who've lived in japan, and loved it!!!

Hope you like airplanes!

Sorry to hear you're leaving Aaron, your movies, FX Tests, and help was one of the primary reasons I've stuck with FXHome for this whole time.

Good luck on your mission, man, and good luck learning Japanese! Thanks for all you help, encouragement, and support for my movies throughout the years; I've got files from you in my AIM download bin from well over two years ago. hahaha.

Best wishes, Ben

P.S. Oh, and thank you for kindly putting me on "the list". That means alot.

MOD EDIT: Post edited to remove religious opinion, in order to abide by the restricted subject matter. The rest of your post is fine Ben, just try to keep your opinions regarding religions out of the discussion, thank you.

We'll look forward to welcoming you back to FXhome in a couple of years with some Japanese influenced films maybe? I hope you get time to pop on to FXhome.com now and then while you're out there to tell us its all going OK.

Safe journey!

Again, Aaron, congrats on getting your mission assigment, and good luck!

What exactly will your mission entail? Is it church-building, like they do in third-world countries, or is it something more modern, like pamphlets and Bible distribution? We've got Mormons from Utah on mission here in Texas, and I really think they've done some great things in the community. Every Saturday they wear these long trenchcoats and go bike riding together, like in packs of five. Maybe you could start a similar trend in Japan. lol.

Wow, this is unexpected. I really liked your latest movie's, and was really looking forward to see more from you. Looks like I'm gonna have to wait 2 years.

I wish you good luck with your mission, and hope to see you back on the forums in 2 years.

Yeah, those guys are awesome. Like if Jesus was in the Matrix.....on a bike. wink

Best of Luck, Aaron. It's a very commendable thing to do, devote 2 years of your life to your faith, and I think it's great. It reallly shows how devout and devoted you are, especially for (what I'm guessing) will be your first 2 years living out from your parents home.

Though aaron is leaving, that doesn't mean the end of Initial-Productions....You can bet your bottom dollar we'll still be making films! But it's gonna be a whole lot tougher without aaron. But like aaron said we are still finishing up some things before he leaves, one of which is stalker. So expect that soon!

Japan is a beautiful country with a wild and fascinating culture. While the language is known to be difficult, I have a few friends in my company who work there long term and they managed to pick it up pretty well with the help of some night courses. Particularly in the main urban areas, internet access is pretty much everywhere, including some cybercafes, etc. so with any luck you should be able to check in here from time to time.

Enjoy Japan and stay safe.

Wow, man I'm sure that's a tough thing to do, leaving the world you know. I bet it will be a great adventure though. Good Luck! My video actually went on a similar mission to china this summer, and she HAD to be secretive about it, like couldn't mention it in emails or anything, because over in china christianity is outlawed. Anyways I've really enjoyed your films and really, if you can get a camera out there you should bring one. Good luck in your travels buddy!
