Soemthing I haven't seen and certainly if 've missed it, please pardon my ignorance...

What I'm looking for are 2 types of FX in this instance, one would be the "TetraGrammaton" Cleric Gun flash seen in the film Equilibrium.

The other, though the same looking FX, in this case would have more of a "gaseous" look instead of a fire-arm bright light...

Here's my reasoning- I have a film project I'm working on that would introduce a character later nicknamed "The Cleric" [obviously as a reference to one of my favorite films] who plays paintball for a misfit team.

The "real" muzzle flash would be a nice addition for some work I'd like to put together for a fan-film on the subject, but this "CO2 looking popping cloud" paintball gun effect would be necessary to substantiate the character I've begun to create/write in.

Any suggestions or help?

They seem to vary quite a bit. I've long been a fan of the bizarre "Cross potent"-shaped muzzle flashes, but the rest seem unrelated...

eek You Got It, Amigo!! biggrin

Hope this helps!

Initially in the film, there's muzzle flash [2 types as photographically illustrated here] as well as muzzle glow in a darkened room [check youtube.com for about a 1000 different references to the opening segment...]

The particle effect "gaseous" one need only represent a fast cloud effect similar in speed and size to the firearm's related one.

EDIT: Woa! Excession! Good job!

Yes- the gunfire represented throughout the film is more or less an "extended" flare as opposed to an "expanding" flare for most shots- only using the Grammaton Tetra for major shots that are in middle or close-up [as I'll try to duplicate at some point].

Glad to see there's another EQ fan here as well- I really found the movie to be exceptional- regardless of its commercial success!

Let's see, it might take a while, but I'm pretty sure I know how to do it smile keep your eyes on the preset archive

The CO2 can be created by just gassing up the gun a fireing it.

I look forward to seeing what you come up with, Red. I managed to get a decent looking one using 2 layers of muzzle flashes, and masking the middle out of one.

True- I own quite a few paintball rifles/pistols. The tell-tale puff is common, but it has never created a Tetragrammaton "T" nor can it be done...

Much like the "live fire" weaponry photos above- the Tetragrammaton "T" is impossible to create physically/practically in real life- hence a request for a particle effect puff.

DANG that's crazy! Just yesterday I attempted to make it (having no idea this discussion was going on, btw!) with a single flash, quickly finding out that it won't work at all... razz Then I tried it with a particle object and a hastily-made texture, which didn't turn out all that great either. I did end up making a good angled (i.e. non-frontal) flash, though. But Axeman's is great (except I currently can't find a way to make it more intense, short of using multiple copies), and I can't wait to see what Red comes up with!

Axeman's definitely got the talent!

I'll certainly use Axe's as part of my library- I'm wondering, can it be "colored" to have that warmer amber hue- [note teh photos]? I know some of that can be manipulated, but I'm wondering if I'd need to create a 3rd layer or manipulate one of the two existing layers to get either a "blue hot" or "amber hot" look from scene to scene...

I'm still looking into a particle effect that's more of a gas or "cloud" puff as well...

I got this preset on hold for now though, since I can't really figure out how to make it work in 3d space. Axeman's preset rocks though, so thanks to him smile

Oh, and the person who gave me a +1 can remove that since I'm not sure I can submit a fully working preset just yet, since I'm working on some other presets at the moment, quite a few grading, optic, and particle presets. Thanks anyway.

No ill intent on my part and most certainly if it's a moot point, please let me know- but it'd be grande if this item could be re-examined!

Red'- if you're still busy doing other things, I'm not one to poke incessantly [as obvious by the last date this was posted] but I'd still be interested in an updated version of this preset if it's possible.

If it's just not in the cards, no problem! Please let me know and maybe I'll get proficient enough to add/expand on teh current set of presets aready in my collection.

Sorry to dig up an old request, but I thought it might help to have the history of this particular request viewed to remind people of the undertaking!

Best wishes one and all!

You ought to be able to open the color controls on those presets and shift them toward a warmer color quite easily. I can do it for you if you like, but I'm not sure such a minor modification justifies submitting a new preset. It should be quite an easy adjustment. I'll try have a look at a more gaseous emission sometime in the near future. Not sure exactly when I'll get to it.

Sorry it took so long for me to get to this last post- mea culpa!

No rush; anything I'm doing that would require such an effect is still on hold pending my getting the script done.

You'd be doing me and all of us the favor here so I'll not rush the "puff particled" FX.

As per your note- I completely forgot that it's a relatively easy manipulation once in the program to change the hue, color and such [chaulk that up to my age and "geezerism"! razz ]

I'm much obliged to you and anyone else who can/could help out.

I may take a stab at creating some of this as well- I'm retiscent as to the quality I'll generate: but then what's experimentation for, if not mutants!

Thanks again!
