Having used the EffectsLab demo for the first time today, I have to say, I’m sold!

Before I purchase it, I have a quick question. I apologise if this has already been asked elsewhere, but I’ve just spent about 2 hours searching in the forums and can’t find anyone with a similar question!

Like a lot (if not the majority) of professional corporate video ‘hacks’, I don’t have an internet connection on my editing PC. But I have total access to the internet at the radio station I work. When I wanted to test the demo, I downloaded the .exe installer onto my PC at work, burned it onto a CDR, and installed it on my editing PC at home. That worked fine. What I want to know is (before I spend my money!) Will I be able to do the same with the full version once I’ve purchased it? Can I put the installer (and ‘magic key thingy’) onto a CDR (or memory stick, if it’s small enough) and install it on my editing PC at home?

Basically, can I download from one PC with an internet connection and then install on another PC without?

Thanks folks – I look forward to contributing to the community further!

Hey, welcome to the community.

You can transfer the installer in exactly the same way as you did with the demo. You'll also have to transfer the key file (which is just a tiny file with your registration details). There shouldn't be any problem with running the program on a computer without a net connection.

As long as the application is only on one computer (at a time I believe) then you are in compliance. Let me look it up some more and I'll add it onto this post.

EDIT: Found on a post by Wizard:

When you buy an FXhome product, you are also buying the license/right to run it on your specific machine. You can, however, un-install the program from one operating system, and install it on another, similar, operating system; as long as you do not have it on two different operating systems at the same time.

Edit : Wow, some amazingly fast responses made whilst I was writing this. Not everything I say will apply as it has just been answered.

Hey there, First off welcome to Fxhome. It's always good to hear someone enjoying the programs.

Now, to answer your question -

Provided that you only install one copy of the software you've bought on one machine of course you can. Purchasing the software grants you license to install the software on a single machine - online or not.

Keep in mind that it's a good idea to check on the site every now and then. Not solely because it's a great community here but also because the programs are largely treated as a constant work in progress so expect new features and various tweaks to be added via updates every now and then.

I hope that helps.

Wow - how fast. I was expecting to check back tomorrow to see if I had a reply! And I've had loads!

That's great, thanks very much everyone. My intention is to only install it on one machine, so that's perfect for me. And yes Hybrid, I'll always be checking back for updates and to see what cool new particles, etc. people are coming up with! smile

Also, keep in mind, that, as a method to prevent privacy, the FXhome products expire after a certain amount of time (I think it's 2 months, no?), and at that time, you will need to download an update to the program to continue using it. All of the updates are free, so you don't have to worry about re-purchasing the product, and EffectsLab will tell you when you need to go download an upgrade, and, to boot, Tarn will post a news item announcing the update. So you really can't miss that part. smile

EDIT: This is no longer the case, see next post.

Nope, the timestamp feature is no longer in the new programs. They were removed largely because Fxhome isn't a company which wants to inconvenience it's paying customers simply because people exist who want to steal their software.

Those people will pay when they die and go to hell!. wink
