Hey everyone, I am still having a hard time grasping the particle engine and I need some help real fast. If you have read Julius Caesar then you know about Brutus's Wife Portia. She commits suicide by swallowing a coal. Here is what I need to do.

1. I need to make the coal glow
2. I need to use the engine to make smoke
3. I need to know how to make it burn out of her throat

Thank you in advance

Christ, thats pretty ambitious.

Are you using the demo or have you bought a product? If so, register your products with the site - thereby upgrading yourself to a Gold account - and you'll become eligible for proper support from us.

You do realise you'll never be able to use any of the footage you put effects on? The demo exports all footage with a white cross over it.

I only mention it because it would be a shame to give you all this help and for you to do it all...only for you to find you can't use it!

If you haven't already, check out these tutorials:

http://fxhome.com/support/vidtutes/?t=12&f=%2Bcat%3A3&cat=3

and

http://fxhome.com/support/vidtutes/?t=14&f=%2Bcat%3A3&cat=3

They both contain some useful tips for the particle engine.

For making the coal 'glow', I'd do that with grading rather than particles.

Check out this old tutorial for some ideas:

http://fxhome.com/support/tutorials/view.php?i=41

Specifically, look at the sections describing how to make the 'ring' glow.
