Just a quick question. I know if you use AlamDV in a film, you must put the logo in the end credits. I am currently working on a commercial for local broadcast and needed to use AlamDV for some effects. I know I can't put a logo in a 30 second commercial, but is it legal to use AlamDV in this way. Thanks.

I know if you use AlamDV in a film, you must put the logo in the end credits.
So not only do i have to *PAY* for the program.
I am *FORCED* to include the logo in my films credits?
I would understand this if the software were free.
But it is not...

Why is that a problem?
Any movie you watch with special effects is going to give the effects artists credit. In the case of AlamDV, the effects are already created, you simply have to place them in your movie. And they are created by the programmers of AlamDV and the community of users. Rather than credit the creator of each effect you use, you simply include the AlamDV logo. No big deal.
Especially when you can get such high-quality effects at such a low price tag.

i think you guys shouldn't say alamdv "logo".
that's too much.
i personally have no problem adding in, and have done so by saying :
special effects created by so and so, using AlamDV2.
putting the logo in could mess up the credits format, and I don't bother with that.
I have added the colored logo in one thing so far (vimy ridge: SE. coming soon!) but nothing else.
i think just add it in text. if you guys have a problem with that, than the only thing i can really say is that you have some ego issues..... not to sound crued though

Thats why we say to contact us. If you are using AlamDV in a situation where you can't include the logo (like an advert) then we can always sort something out - as long as you contact us.

You guys complaining have never seen the Dolby logo at the end of a Hollywood movie? Or words like filmed in Panavision etc. It is pretty standard stuff.

perhaps in this advert you could include a small watermark, like u get on channel 5 in england, it has there logo in the top corner ALL the time...
maybe a similar thing could be devised for alam, make a small logo, big enough to tell what it is, but small enough to be subtle, and not to interfere with the advert itself...
just an idea though...

yes, i noticed that (oh, andi think episode 2 was the first one to have them in color....), but for our productions, we don't spend time on 10 minute long credits.
I think it should be (if it isn't) just somehow credit alamdv, not actually have the logo splattered across, etc.

Yeah that is what i am saying.
I dont have a problem crediting the company and creators of the software.
Or even including a url.
But i am not going to include the logo of every piece of hardware or computer application i used in my end credits.
