Word has come down from on high about an exciting new competition being organised by none other than BAFTA - The British Academy of Film & Television Arts.

All you have to do is make a 60 second film based on the theme 'Celebrate', to link in with BAFTA's 60th anniversary.

While the competition is open to anybody over 16, no matter where you're from, the films do have to be shot in the UK. Other than that, pretty much anything goes.

BBC heaven!

The competition is also heavily supported by the BBC, so winning films will be shown on regional BBC television, with the finalists finding themselves flown to the British Academy Film Awards in 2007. The overall winner will be announced during the ceremony and have their film screened in the main BBC One coverage!

This is a pretty huge opportunity for all FXhomers, so you'd best get your filming caps on, as the deadline is 4 January, 2007. Good luck to everyone!!

For full details, check out the official website.

Special Christmas discounts continue!

Our special Christmas discounts on 250 copies of VisionLab Studio (including updates) and 250 copies of the EffectsLab Pro + CompositeLab Pro bundle are continuing to sell like hotcakes. Over a third of the discount stock has gone already, so if you're looking to take advantage of the best deal of the season you'd better place your order soon!

Order your copy now, before it's too late!

I believe so, yes. The full rules can be found on the official competition website, so make sure you check them out. Let me know if you find anything that says otherwise, too. wink

Can you guys get some green screen background plates of England up, or will that not cut it?
Dumb of me asking because I have to age a couple years in 3 weeks anyway...

I just had a look at the site. There were only two film up there so far, and they're both pretty dreadful. Not much in the way of competition biggrin

I'll be working on mine next week...
