That’s right, you can now promote FXhome using our stylish banners and earn Force rewards at the same time! Compete with other FXhomers in the weekly league table – can you make it to be the #1 FXhome Emissary?

How does it work?

The new banner system couldn’t be simpler. All you need to do is display FXhome banners on your website and other communities you visit. You will earn a number of points whenever:

  • Your banner is viewed.
  • Somebody clicks your banner.
  • Someone registers at FXhome.com after clicking your banner.
  • Someone buys an FXhome product after clicking your banner.

Every week you'll be able to compare your banner score with other FXhome users in the weekly Banner Chart.

Force will be awarded at the end of each week based on your total score.

This is something we'd like to investigate at some point, but first we're going to wait and see how the system works, to gauge interest and response. We'll then know what kind of prizes to throw at it. smile

Thanks in advance to everybody that supports us! The banner chart is already up and running with some early entries.

One question:

Are we able to make our own banners? Can I upload a custom picture to my website and change the image URL in the code you've supplied? Is that cool?

Also, I'm thinking of linking FXHome's site inadvertently with whatever movies and/or filmmaking pictures I put up on MySpace, sort of like how every Photobucket.com-hosted picture is hyperlinked to Photobucket. The way I initially found FXhome was from an accidental link in an Art of the Saber poster, so I think dropping little hints about here without saying flatout "click now to go to FXHOME!!!!!" would do some good and gauge otherwise uninvolved interest.

The reason I'm asking about this is because I'm not sure if you guys will agree with this or not, and I wouldn't want to do anything bad for business. But for the record, I've linked the band Say Anything and the wikipedia article for the Democratic party on random pictures on my MySpace, and plenty of people have talked to me about being referred there. Yes, there is some false pretense, but I think it could only prove helpful to both parties.

Ben: I highly doubt that would work; looking at the URLs and img src's, it looks like everything's calculated by a php scripts that rely on the image being on FXhome's servers. Sorry. smile

How do the points translate into force?

Another problem I'd anticipate with people doing their own banners is that we don't want people creating banners that could potentially be offensive, badly designed or otherwise problematic, which could be mistakenly taken to be 'official' FXhome banners.

I'm sure that wouldn't be the case with you ben, as you've got a good design aesthetic, but it would set a precedent that could cause probs down the line.

Anyway, it's not my baby, so I'm sure malone will have an official word tomorrow. wink

I'm going to go ahead and mockup designs for my MySpace and my regular website, and then submit them for possible approval. I find that if little inconspicuous advertisements are well-integrated to a page, it's alot more inviting than a banner.

Hi guys,

Great idea! I have added one banner to my online picture albums and - bingo - it took just hours to receive my first banner points!

What about my signature here in the forums? Including a banner there should not count. Right?

We recommend you stick to the official banners, but if you really want to use your referral link on another image or in some text then that's fine. Views won't be counted if you do that, but clicks will be.

However, please do not trick people into coming to the website. Clicks should only come from people who are actually interested in what we do. If you trick someone into coming to the site who was expecting something else then they will just leave, which is worthless to us. In fact, it may give us a negative reputation as they will associate us with your scamming.

You may put your banners in your forum signature, but most people viewing it will have already been referred by someone else. So most views/clicks won't count and you won't get many points for it.

Heh, you guys, this is the funniest thing: ever since clicking "community" stopped redirecting to forums, I have sort of a muscle memory with my hand of how to mouse over to "Forums" real quick.

Well now that "Banners" has a space, I keep hitting "Live Chat", every single time, even if I know I'm about to hit it. Crazy.

Is there some way to show on the charts page which individual banners have been shown so we can tell which ones are most popular?

Also your click ratio maths seems a little dodgy. I have 1 view and 1 click through giving me 55 points but only 1% click through ratio!

100 points = 10 force

So as of right now, Xcession can look forward to a 14,936 force payoff by the end of the week (and it just keeps growing!).

I am fairly sure the amount awarded is closer to one force point per every thousand points (views, clicks, etcetera), with a set maximum of two hundred force a week. The amount was changed after the first week, to be a bit more practical.

So for a score of Xcession's, a member would currently be looking forward to receiving approximately 168 force. At least, this is how it was explained to me.

However, this is still in the trial/evaluation period, and is subject to change. Perhaps it has been changed once again, and I am simply unaware. Also, let's not forget that there is additional force awarded if one were to register after clicking your banner, or if they were to purchase a program after doing so.

Take care.
Wizard.

Great idea guys. I'm going to put one on my blog. I don't have my own site however. Anyway, cool idea to get others onto fxhome.razz

By the way, I have a quick question. How does it work? How does it know when someone on a different for, for example, clicks on the link? Thanks.

At the moment, every 1000 points will get you 1 force (with a maximum of 200 force awarded each week). So the force you received is about right. Clicks are worth 1000 points each, so if you get a lot of clicks you will amass force pretty quickly.

We are still tweaking the numbers to give it a bit more balance, but we want to make sure people don't get huge amounts of force for simply hiding the banner somewhere on a popular website. It's only helps FXhome if people see the banner and then visit the website, so that is what we are trying to reward.
