I have seen cloning on youtube using effects lab lite. I know how they do it but when I do it, the clips are transparent. How do I stop the transparency?

If you import all of your footage as one clip, then split it into pieces on the timeline, it won't go transparent. Also, If you create an alpha channel in the footage, it will use the alpha channel to composite it rather than using Add or Screen blend modes (which is what creates the transparency).
In reality, both of these ways are kind of workarounds/cheats to get the program to do someething it wasn't designed to do. That's why it isn't easier. If you project requires extensive compositing of this sort, you should look at a real compositing app, like CompositeLab.

. JT9 has conveniently compiled this tutorial to walk you through it. For cloning shots, alpha channels won't be the way to go. If you really want to clone in EffectsLab, a split-screen technique as described in this tutorial is the way to go. But be aware that if you want lots of clones, or if they interact with ech other at all, you must be prepared to do a whole bunch of tedious masking. Or get the right tool for the job.

As Axeman says, using EffectsLab for this kind of job is very counter-productive and rather a waste of time. You'll find it far easier to work with CompositeLab for this kind of shot. As you haven't registered EffectsLab I presume you're just using the demo, in which case I'd recommend trying out the CompositeLab demo too.
On the other hand, if you have bought, please register your product to receive continued support.

Send an email to email@example.com
and they can sort out your account info. The pictures in the tutorial are working fine for me still, so try load it again. Maybe it was just a glitch of some sort.

I just tried the part where I upload my whole footage at once and splitting it, but it still appears transparent. Any theories or suggestions?

What does your footage consist of? Does it have transparancy to begin with?

What I do is put the first footage onto the timeline and the second footage on the layer above and the second footage comes out transparent. Even if I upload the whole footage it still is transparent when I drag them on top of each other

Drag the whole thing to the timeline, then split it in half to create the two layers.

Again... what is your footage, actors, title with transparancy?
All of the actor footage, even the footage of the clones needs to be imported as a single file. Not two files because it wont work that way.

It just shows me as the actor
And the whole thing is a single file but come out transparent when I do the effect
