Virtual sets? [ANSWER]

I read you can use virtual sets with this program-Is this done with imported media? If so does anyone know where I can make or get any?

A virtual set can consist of anything - a still photo, a 3D rendered animation, a video clip. It can also consist of a combination of any of those. The fact it's 'virtual' means that it can consist of anything you want - simply import the elements to the media browser, then arrange them into your set as required.

You can buy some pre-made 'studio' style virtual sets from various stock footage/virtual set companies, but personally I'd always prefer to make my own.

Ahh I see. I was thinkin about using a miniature as a backrond for a project im doing-but im thinking a cg set would be better-now does anyone know what i'd need if i wanted to make my own?

If you've already got miniature skills then I'd recommend going for that, as getting CG to the same quality if you've never done it before will require some serious research and practice.

If you still want to go the 3D route, it's time to investigate the various programs. People seem to recommend Cinema4D as a good starting point, although 3DSMax is also popular. There's also Blender, which is free, but incredibly difficult to use.

My cousin uses cinema4d and he is amazing at it. He's only used it for a few years and can already achieve professional results. 3Dsmax is popular but doesn't help you use universal tools as much. Me and some of my friends use Blender, and If you know where to look for help, you can accomplish professional results quickly as well. Other people I know have recommended Lightwave 3d, Hexagon2, and other such things. Just look around and you'll find plenty of stuff.
