confusde about video forms (.avi, .mpg etc.)

I downloaded the trial version of one of the FX products i am trying to open a video in it but i dont know how to change the video file type into one that the FX product supports...any help?

What format is your video? Any decent editing program will be able to export to AVI or MOV formats. What programs are you using?

I have a question regarding this now that you mention it. What if we have a video that isn't recognized by our fxhome products for our NLE? I only have movie maker so I can't really convert files if they aren't images or .avi or .mov so I wouldn't be able to work on them.

You will have to download a video converter. I suggest a program called Mpeg Streamclip. however if you want the best quality for editing choose to convert to DV files.
