Yoda lightsabre handle...

i have just used blender to create these cool models, the picture i copied from is at http://www.masterreplicas.com/StarWars/productsyodasaber.asp?sid=
but, when i look upon the lightsabre handles, they don't look right, i am thinking texturing (not sure though) is the problem, what do other people think of them???

it is meant to be a kinda replica of the original, but i need to work on something to get it to look right, but i can't workout what that something is, i think it is maybe the texturing...

Hey, I think that it's a cool lightsaber. Well, cool lightsaber picture. Too bad you can't use it as a prop.

yeah, i am gonna pester tarn for some textures, similar to those he used on anakin's lightsbare...
so tarn - can u e-mail me some images for textures please
and then, once it's done, i may make a plug-in outta it, kinda have it flying towards someones hands kinda thing...
the whole FORCE type stuff...

you need to increase the specular highlights, these are the areas of white you can see on the side view, metals have very high specular highlights. I don't use blender so I don't know how it handles texturing.
You could also add a bump map to increase the surface detail
Does blender export 3ds files, if it does you could send the model to me and I will have a go in cinema 4d...

Yeah, Make the metal shiny, and make it reflective also.

i think this is the last one, as i cannot see what i could add to it, thank you to axeman for making the new phaser muzzle flash that i used for making the handle look more reflective...
also u may have noticed near the base of the blade i have used a lightbulb effect to give it the BLOB effect like in the films...

Great job. Take a look at the original, and see how much better you've made it. Congrags

well, if you can change it the shroud, (silver thing at the top) is shorter, that might make it look a bit more like the origional (although there was none

Maybe add a grip to the handle and a more silver like texture.

the silver texture is as good as i can get it
, which is a shamer, but i quite like the look of it...
also, there is a grip on the handle, see those 2 black bits, with the phaser muzzle flashes in the middle of them, there are 4 of them, in a cross formation (looking at from the base of the saber, towards where the blade comes out)...

Very cool model!
but deffinately think that the texturing will do it more favours deffinately if u can get the metal texture right then i think it would be absolutely superb, keep up the good work

heh, there should of been 2 pages b4 u posted
u started up the third page
i am only using a free program called blender, so i think it is pretty good, considering...
i am gonna pester schwar to get me 3ds max, so i can do some BETTER quality work
hopefully i can make dooku's saber in that, i tried in blender, but it went horribly wrong...

yeah, luke and vader's are a bit tricky at the mo
, yoda's was pretty simple really...
i am gonna try and do obi wan's from episodes 1 and 2, that is quite tough, due to the wierd grip he has, which is kinda indented...
i have made luke's from rotj
but not his originals

They look brilliant.
If you really wanna work on them more how 'bout a bit of battle damage? They look a bit box-fresh to me. A couple of scratches and chips and stuff? All the stuff in the SW films is a bit battered.
Lucas said: "I didn't want a Flash Gordon kind of thing going. The ships needed to look like they had seen action; like they had been used." (in a biog' by John Baxter)
Having said that, I kinda like 'em as they are!
